Abstract

This study aims to analyze physical activity, gross motor skills, and social skills in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and to examine the relationship between these three variables. This study used a descriptive quantitative method involving nine children with ASD at SLB-D YPAC Bandung. Physical activity was measured using ActiGraph GT3X for seven days, motor skills were assessed through long jump, ball throw, 10-meter run, and balance tests, while social skills were measured using the Social Skills Questionnaire (SSQ). Data were analyzed descriptively and using Spearman's correlation to examine the relationship between variables. The results showed that the level of physical activity among children with ASD tended to be low, gross motor skills varied between individuals, and social skills were in the moderate category. Correlation analysis showed no strong relationship between physical activity, motor skills, and social skills, reflecting the diversity of developmental characteristics in children with ASD. However, these three aspects remain important to improve through structured interventions tailored to individual needs. These findings emphasize the importance of a holistic approach in supporting the physical, motor, and social development of children with ASD.

Abstract

Burnout is one of the psychological problems that athletes often experience due to the high demands of training and competition. This condition can have a negative impact on athletes' performance, motivation, and career sustainability. One of the psychological factors that is suspected to play a role in lowering the risk of burnout is mindfulness, which is the ability of individuals to be consciously and attentively present to current experiences. This study aims to analyze the relationship between mindfulness and burnout in National Training Center SEA Games Indonesia woodball athletes. This study used a cross-sectional correlation design involving 23 woodball athletes who were members of the Indonesian SEA Games National Training Center program. The sampling technique uses total sampling. Mindfulness was measured using the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS), while burnout was measured using the Athlete Burnout Questionnaire (ABQ). Data collection was carried out indirectly through filling out an independent questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson Correlation tests. The results of the study showed that athletes had a fairly good level of mindfulness and the burnout rate was in the medium category. Correlation analysis showed a significant relationship between mindfulness and burnout (r= -0.516; P<0.05) with strong relationship strength, and of the 3 dimensions of burnout Emotional & Physical Exhaustion most correlated with mindfulness (r= -.608; P<0.01).   These findings indicate that mindfulness is related to burnout conditions in woodball athletes. This study concludes that mindfulness can be one of the psychological factors that play a role in helping athletes manage the stress of training and competition, thus potentially lowering the risk of burnout.

Abstract

This study examines how female taekwondo athletes perceive physical abilities, menstrual cycles, and diet. This study applied a quantitative method with a ceoss-sectional correlational design. A total of 36 female taekwondo athletes were recruited through total sampling techniques, divided into junior (n = 21) and senior (n = 15) groups. The instruments used included the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short From (IPAQ-SF) questionnaire to evaluate the perception of physical ability; Semi-Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ) to measure diet; and the Menstrual Distress Questionnaire (MEDI-Q) questionnaire to assess the menstrual cycle. Data analysis was carried out using the Pearson product moment correlation test and descriptive statistics. The results of the study revealed that in the junior group, there was no significant association between diet and menstrual cycle (r = 0.159; p > 0.05), as well as between diet and views on the perception of physical ability (r = -0.025; p > 0.05). Meanwhile, in the senior group, a meaningful relationship with moderate negative strength was identified between menstrual cycle and perception of physical ability (r = -0.516; p < 0.05). In general, these findings indicate that the association between menstrual cycles and views on physical ability is situational and is more strongly seen in senior-level athletes.
