Abstract

This research stems from the analysis and review process of the field of Visual Communication Design (VCD) as one of the disciplines that contribute to the preservation of Minangkabau culture and local wisdom. From several research findings, it is evident that VCD can be considered as an academic discipline, and more narrowly, visual communication design media can be employed as a subject in preserving Minangkabau culture and local wisdom. One of the objectives of this research is to underscore that the field of visual communication design, as a subject, can be utilized to promote efforts to preserve and enhance the existence of this discipline in conserving the culture. The research methodology adopted for this study is qualitative (literature review and content analysis). Data were collected through the process of analyzing and reviewing books, journals, articles, and works produced through visual communication media. The research results manifest in descriptive statements that emphasize visual communication design's potential as a medium for preserving Minangkabau culture and local wisdom. Furthermore, this research can be used as a reference and can contribute to the development of the curriculum in the case study area, namely the Visual Communication Design program located in West Sumatra

Abstract

The education of children plays a crucial role in influencing the values and principles of the future generation, particularly in the face of intricate contemporary issues. The goal of this research is to explore the significance of child education principles found in the Qur'an and Hadith, and how they can be applied in modern education. The research approach employed involves a literature review along with qualitative analysis, collecting information from sources such as the Qur'an, Hadith, and recent scientific publications on child education. The findings demonstrate that in the Islamic viewpoint, children's education places importance on qualities such as morals, knowledge, orderliness, empathy, and setting a good example, while also adapting to technological advancements and societal shifts. The conversation highlights the crucial role of parents and educators in establishing a supportive environment for children's education aligned with religious beliefs. The study's findings suggest that incorporating the teachings of the Qur'an and Hadith into children's education is crucial in cultivating a generation that is not only academically proficient but also possesses admirable character in the digital 5.0 age.

Abstract

Prasasti Adityawarman merupakan peninggalan sejarah penting yang mencerminkan perjalanan pemerintahan Adityawarman di Sumatra Barat pada abad ke-14. Namun, informasi mengenai prasasti ini masih tersebar dalam berbagai sumber akademik dan kurang dikenal oleh masyarakat luas, terutama generasi muda. Fenomena ini menunjukkan bahwa diperlukan sebuah media yang dapat menyajikan sejarah prasasti secara lebih menarik dan mudah dipahami. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang buku ilustrasi yang mendokumentasikan sejarah delapan belas prasasti Adityawarman dengan pendekatan visual yang informatif dan edukatif. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Design Thinking, yang mencakup tahap eksplorasi untuk mengumpulkan data, konseptualisasi untuk mengembangkan sketsa awal dan konsep visual, eksekusi dalam pembuatan ilustrasi serta desain buku, dan evaluasi untuk menguji efektivitas buku ilustrasi terhadap audiens target. Hasil akhir dari penelitian ini adalah buku ilustrasi yang menggabungkan elemen visual dan naratif guna mempermudah pemahaman terhadap sejarah prasasti tersebut. Perancangan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi media edukatif yang menarik dan efektif dalam memperkenalkan warisan budaya kepada masyarakat serta meningkatkan apresiasi terhadap sejarah lokal.

Abstract

The current COVID-19 vaccination is needed which aims to increase thebody's resistance to avoid the dangers of COVID-19. Therefore, it is important to design social education campaigns to provide an overview to the public about COVID-19 and about COVID-19 vaccination. In this design there are five materials that will be conveyed to the public using interesting and easy-to- understand information. Researched using quantitative methods including conducting observations, interviews, literature studies and documentation as well as data analysis methods using SWOT. Among them Strength (strength), Weakness (Weakness), Opportunity (opportunity) and Threat (threat). Made in motion graphic videos that are interesting and provide clear information for the public to watch. And coupled with supporting media that can help get information from the main media such as posters, X-banners, billboards, brochures, t-shirts, handsanitizers, tumblers, mugs, paper bags, wall clocks, notebooks, stickers and also one of the social media such as YouTube.

Abstract

Pantai Bantayan merupakan salah satu pantai di kawasan Aceh Utara tepatnya di Kecamatan Seunuddon yang memiliki banyak potensi wisata. Kebersihan merupakan salah satu faktor yang menentukan kualitas suatu kawasan wisata. Kesadaran masyarakat sekitar akan kebersihan akan menentukan keberlanjutan wisata dan kelestarian alam di pantai Bantayan, hal tersebut dapat dimulai dari skala kecil, rumah merupakan tempat yang tepat untuk memulainya. Tim Modul Nusantara Universitas Malikussaleh melaksanakan kegiatan sosialisasi pengolahan sampah rumah tangga dengan bimbingan dosen Modul Nusantara. Sasaran utama yang peneliti pilih adalah kaum perempuan yang terdiri dari ibu-ibu, sebab akan berdampak langsung pada aktivitas rumah tangga. Peneliti memberikan sosialisasi tentang cara sederhana yang dapat dilaksanakan untuk mengolah sampah rumah tangga. Selama sosialisasi, peserta sangat antusias terhadap pemaparan peneliti tentang pengolahan sampah. Peserta dapat memberikan timbal balik berupa langkah penangan sampah yang selama ini dilakukan.

Abstract

Museum Tuanku Imam Bonjol terletak di Bonjol, Sumatera Barat, Indonesia. Museum ini didedikasikan untuk Tuanku Imam Bonjol, seorang pahlawan nasional Indonesia yang memimpin Perang Padri melawan penjajahan Belanda pada abad ke-19. Museum ini menyimpan berbagai artefak bersejarah, seperti senjata, dokumen, dan benda-benda pribadi yang terkait dengan kehidupan dan perjuangan Tuanku Imam Bonjol. Selain itu, museum ini juga menyediakan informasi mengenai sejarah dan budaya Minangkabau, memberikan wawasan mendalam tentang sosial dan politik pada masa perjuangan tersebut. Museum ini berfungsi sebagai pusat edukasi dan wisata, Museum Tuanku Imam Bonjol mengajak pengunjung untuk memahami dan menghargai sejarah perjuangan bangsa Indonesia. Tujuan perancagan ini membahas pengguna (User Interface/UI) aplikasi Museum Tuanku Imam Bonjol dengan menggunakan pendekatan User Centered Design (UCD). UCD adalah metode yang menekankan pada kebutuhan dan preferensi pengguna selama proses pengembangan produk. Proses UCD terdiri dari empat tahap utama: analisis, desain, evaluasi, dan implementasi. Tahap analisis melibatkan pengumpulan informasi mendalam tentang pengguna potensial aplikasi, termasuk penelitian demografi, kebutuhan, dan interaksi mereka dengan teknologi. Hasil analisis ini menjadi dasar untuk tahap desain. Pada tahap desain, konsep dan prototipe awal UI dibuat berdasarkan temuan analisis, dengan fokus pada kenyamanan, kemudahan penggunaan, dan daya tarik visual untuk memastikan aplikasi fungsional dan menyenangkan bagi pengguna. Evaluasi melibatkan pengujian prototipe dengan pengguna sebenarnya melalui tes kegunaan dan umpan balik langsung, yang kemudian digunakan untuk memperbaiki dan mengoptimalkan desain sebelum implementasi akhir. Implementasi adalah proses menerjemahkan desain yang telah dievaluasi ke dalam produk akhir, di mana pengembang memastikan UI sesuai dengan desain yang disetujui dan memenuhi standar kualitas yang diharapkan. Pendekatan UCD memastikan bahwa aplikasi Museum Tuanku Imam Bonjol tidak hanya memenuhi kebutuhan fungsional tetapi juga memberikan pengalaman pengguna yang optimal, sehingga meningkatkan keterlibatan dan kepuasan pengguna.

Abstract

The transformation of the elderly toward active ageing is a crucial issue as Indonesia’s ageing population continues to grow, posing social and economic challenges. Older adults are often perceived as passive and dependent, whereas with the right approach they can remain productive and independent. This community engagement program empowers seniors through the establishment of RUJAK POLO (Rumah Jaringan Usaha Kerja Produktif – Productive Work Network House) as a hub for training, collaboration, and community-based creative enterprise development.The method applied was Participatory Action Research (PAR), involving 20 seniors in Argosari Hamlet, Sedayu, Bantul, from problem identification to training in eco-printing and crafts, business management mentoring, and participatory evaluation. Results show significant improvement: 80% of participants produced simple products after training (compared to 25% before). They also gained additional monthly income of Rp150,000–Rp300,000 from local market sales.Beyond economic impact, RUJAK POLO strengthened community organization, self-confidence, and social bonds. The program supports active ageing, aligns with SDGs 8 and 11, and serves as a replicable best practice model.

Abstract

According to available data, colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common malignant neoplasms. Depending on location, type of cancer, or gender, this disease ranks 2nd to 4th in terms of worldwide incidence. CRC from year to year shows an increasing trend both in terms of morbidity and mortality. Many factors may be responsible for the development of this disease, including genetic and environmental factors. Although CRC-related mortality is very high in high-income countries, CRC-related incidence and mortality is also increasing in developing countries. CRC that is detected early is completely curable with surgery and subsequent treatment. However, the recurrence rate is high, and cancer drug resistance increases the treatment failure rate. Access to early diagnosis and treatment of CRC for survival is somewhat possible in developed countries. However, these facilities are rarely available in developing countries.

Abstract

In designing the promotional video for G’Royal Kerinci coffee, a qualitative descriptive approach and the 4D method were used to produce an effective and engaging video. The qualitative descriptive approach aims to gather in-depth information about G’Royal Kerinci coffee through interviews with farmers, coffee processors, baristas, and consumers, as well as direct observation of the production process and local culture in Kerinci. This observation includes stages of production from planting, picking, processing, to packaging coffee, and observing the surrounding environment and culture that influence the quality and characteristics of the coffee. Additionally, document analysis from various reports and articles documenting the history and quality of G'Royal Kerinci coffee provides further insights. The 4D method (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) is used to systematically design and implement the promotional video. The Define stage involves identifying the purpose of the video, which is to increase awareness and sales of G'Royal Kerinci coffee, as well as defining the target audience such as premium coffee lovers, millennials, and young professionals. In the Design stage, the video’s concept and theme are crafted to reflect the uniqueness and quality of G'Royal Kerinci coffee, accompanied by the creation of a storyboard and script that outlines the storyline, visuals, and narration of the video. The Develop stage involves video production with shooting in coffee plantations, processing plants, and coffee shops, as well as video editing by adding background music, narration, and visual effects to create an appealing and professional video. Finally, in the Disseminate stage, the video is launched on various platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, and the company’s website, supported by promotional strategies through social media, paid advertisements, and email marketing to reach a wider audience. This approach results in an informative promotional video that successfully captures the audience’s attention towards G'Royal Kerinci coffee.
