Abstract

This study examines the perspectives of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) and Muhammadiyah scholars on the phenomenon of child molestation in Probolinggo City. Children, as the future generation, require special protection, especially from the increasing incidents of sexual violence. The study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, where data was collected through in-depth interviews, document analysis, and observation. The findings show that both NU and Muhammadiyah scholars strongly condemn child molestation, viewing it as contrary to moral values and Islamic teachings. Both groups emphasize the importance of moral and religious education as the primary preventive measure and support strict legal enforcement against perpetrators. Although there are differences in approaches to handling cases, the perspectives of these two organizations complement each other in the prevention and management of child molestation. This study provides insights into the role of scholars in formulating policies and strategies that align with religious norms and societal values to protect children from sexual violence.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi dinamika kemandirian wanita dalam peran rumah tangga dari perspektif Kompilasi Hukum Islam (KHI) dan kajian kitab Fathul Nizar. Dengan menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif, penelitian ini menyelidiki fenomena dan isu terkini yang dihadapi oleh wanita Muslim dalam menjalankan tanggung jawab domestik mereka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa meskipun KHI dan Fathul Nizar memberikan kerangka hukum yang mendukung peran wanita sebagai istri dan ibu, praktik di lapangan sering kali menunjukkan adanya konflik antara tuntutan domestik dan partisipasi dalam dunia kerja. Wanita sering kali mengalami stres akibat peran ganda yang mereka jalani, yaitu sebagai pengelola rumah tangga sekaligus pekerja. Selain itu, keterlibatan suami dalam mengasuh anak dan pembagian tugas rumah tangga masih terbatas, yang dapat menghambat kemandirian wanita. Penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa akses terhadap pendidikan dan pelatihan sangat penting untuk memberdayakan perempuan dalam konteks ekonomi, sehingga mereka dapat berkontribusi secara finansial tanpa mengabaikan tanggung jawab domestik. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat memberikan wawasan bagi kebijakan pengembangan yang lebih mendukung kesetaraan gender dalam keluarga dan masyarakat.

Abstract

As women in the modern era are stakeholders of development, therefore the implementation of development must emphasize the importance of women's empowerment efforts. This article discusses a community service activity conducted to raise the awareness of adolescent girls in Legundi Village, Bantaran Sub-district, Probolinggo Regency, about the importance of education and their role in society. Through a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, the activity involved team preparation, observation, research and evaluation to measure the success of the activity. The evaluation results showed an increase in adolescent girls' enthusiasm for learning and understanding of the importance of education. The bibliography includes references on Islamic education, community development and character education.

Abstract

Buying and selling is an activity that is often carried out by humans everywhere. Sale and purchase is a contract in which the seller gives ownership of his goods to the buyer, the goods are accepted by the buyer, and money is given to the seller in return. Moreover, wholesale buying and selling is often applied in Probolinggo City. Wholesale buying and selling is often applied in buying mangoes that are still on the tree and without being weighed. The method used is empirical. By looking at the phenomena that occur in the field. From the results of the study, it is said that it is permissible to buy and sell wholesale according to Islam. Because both parties are equally willing with the proposed offer. Even without weighing first. If it is agreed, it will continue in the process of transferring property rights. Meanwhile, in terms of urf, wholesale buying and selling has become a habit practiced in the Probolinggo community. Abstract

This study examines the practice of halal food consumption within the local culture of rural Muslim communities in Palopo, with a specific focus on the Hijaber Palopo community. Halal food consumption is not only perceived as a religious obligation but also as part of social identity and cultural expression. Using an Islamic economic anthropological approach, this research aims to uncover how halal practices are performed, interpreted, and socially constructed within a local context. The study employs a descriptive qualitative method through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Findings reveal that halal consumption practices within the Hijaber Palopo community are influenced by local values, the reinforcement of religious identity, and social change driven by the penetration of social media. Halal is not only a religious norm but also a means of community empowerment, social solidarity, and a symbol of Islamic lifestyle and status. This research highlights the importance of understanding local dynamics in the practice of Islamic economics and contributes to the development of a culturally contextual halal discourse.

Abstract

Global economic developments have shifted consumption patterns toward short-term gratification, often neglecting environmental sustainability. This study aims to examine the relevance of classical economic thought—specifically that of Jeremy Bentham and Thomas Robert Malthus—regarding sustainable consumption from the perspective of university students. Using a qualitative library research approach, supported by questionnaires and limited interviews, the findings reveal that most students understand Bentham’s utilitarian principle of maximizing collective happiness and Malthus’ theory of limited natural resources. However, real-life application remains limited, with practical considerations such as affordability and convenience taking precedence. Students tend to adopt a hybrid perspective that combines ethical values with ecological awareness. This study highlights the importance of integrating classical theories with modern sustainability challenges to foster more conscious consumption behavior, as well as the strategic role of higher education in promoting behavioral change among the younger generation. Abstract

The high divorce rate in Probolinggo Regency reflects a crisis in family resilience, driven by poor communication, economic instability, and shifting values due to modernization. This article explores the local tradition of Walagara, a Tenggerese cultural wisdom rich in values such as loyalty, mutual cooperation, deliberation, and spirituality, as an alternative solution to reduce the rate of divorce. This study aims to explore how the Walagara tradition, as part of the cultural heritage of the Tengger tribe, can strengthen family values and mutual respect within households. Using a qualitative approach and case study method, this research examines the relevance of Walagara in fostering marital harmony and the challenges of its implementation in the modern era. Findings reveal that the revitalization of Walagara values can be integrated into premarital education, family dialogue practices, and digital-based educational campaigns. This strategy emphasizes the involvement of traditional leaders, religious figures, communities, and youth to reinvigorate the tradition as a form of social capital. The study concludes that Walagara should not only be preserved as cultural heritage but also applied as a practical tool to strengthen family institutions in contemporary social contexts.

Abstract

The phenomenon of early marriage remains prevalent in various regions of Indonesia, including Wonoasih District, Probolinggo City, despite the government’s regulation of the minimum marriage age through Law Number 16 of 2019. This study aims to analyze the impact of early marriage on family welfare, focusing on economic aspects, psychological harmony, as well as children’s education and future. The research employed a qualitative method with a case study approach through interviews, observation, and documentation involving 6 female informants who were married at the age of 16–19, with educational backgrounds ranging from elementary to senior high school, and occupations as housewives, factory workers, and domestic helpers. The results indicate that early-married couples experience economic vulnerability due to low educational attainment and unstable income, which affects their ability to meet basic family needs. Psychologically, emotional immaturity leads to frequent household conflicts, stress, and even divorce. Furthermore, the interruption of education, particularly among women, reduces the family’s human capital accumulation, while children born from early marriages are at risk of developmental delays due to suboptimal parenting. These conditions affirm that early marriage has multidimensional consequences that weaken family welfare. Therefore, integrated interventions through education, economic empowerment, and cultural value strengthening are necessary to prevent and mitigate its negative impacts.

Abstract

The practice of talak lisan (oral divorce) outside the court remains prevalent across various regions in Indonesia, including Probolinggo City, and poses serious challenges to the protection of women’s rights following divorce. This phenomenon contradicts Indonesia’s positive legal framework, which mandates that all forms of divorce must be authorized through court proceedings to ensure legal certainty and substantive justice, particularly for the affected women. This study aims to analyze the procedural conflict between oral divorce practices and the formal legal system, as well as their implications on the legal status and rights protection of women who experience divorce without judicial endorsement. A qualitative approach was employed, using a case study strategy and a normative-juridical method enriched with empirical data gathered through semi-structured interviews and document analysis. The findings reveal that oral divorce practices are often legitimized by socio-religious norms and the authoritative role of religious figures, yet they fail to provide legal safeguards concerning spousal maintenance, child custody, and civil status. This procedural disparity weakens women's legal standing and highlights a critical gap in the implementation of gender justice and legal certainty within Indonesia’s Islamic family law system. The study offers both conceptual and practical contributions toward reforming Islamic family law to be more responsive to social realities and the need for legal protection of women, and it advocates for greater harmonization between religious law and state law within the family justice system.

Abstract

Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) merupakan salah satu pilar utama dalam pembangunan ekonomi nasional dan daerah, namun keterbatasan literasi kewirausahaan, inovasi, serta pemahaman terhadap prinsip ekonomi syariah masih menjadi kendala bagi banyak pelaku usaha di tingkat lokal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran edukasi kewirausahaan dalam meningkatkan daya saing UMKM berbasis syariah di Kelurahan Curahgrinting, Kota Probolinggo. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif yang didukung oleh data kuantitatif sederhana, penelitian ini memanfaatkan kuesioner, wawancara semi-terstruktur, observasi, dan dokumentasi untuk mengumpulkan data dari pelaku UMKM dengan berbagai jenis usaha, termasuk kerajinan, perdagangan, dan kuliner. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa literasi kewirausahaan para pelaku UMKM masih berada pada tingkat dasar, dengan kebutuhan utama pada pemahaman strategi pemasaran digital, manajemen keuangan sederhana, dan penerapan nilai syariah dalam praktik bisnis. Edukasi yang diberikan melalui penyuluhan dan pendampingan terbukti mampu meningkatkan kesadaran dan keterampilan pelaku usaha dalam mengelola bisnis secara lebih profesional, memperluas jangkauan pasar, serta menjaga kepatuhan terhadap prinsip syariah. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa edukasi kewirausahaan berperan penting tidak hanya dalam membangun kapasitas usaha, tetapi juga dalam memperkuat daya saing UMKM berbasis syariah di tingkat lokal. Artikel ini memberikan kontribusi praktis bagi pengembangan program pengabdian masyarakat di perguruan tinggi serta memperkaya literatur tentang integrasi pendidikan kewirausahaan dengan prinsip ekonomi syariah dalam konteks UMKM.
