Abstract

This study examines the disparity in Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) levels among high school teachers, distinguishing between rural and urban settings within two regions on the Aceh East Coast, specifically Langsa City and Aceh Tamiang Regency. The research encompasses 560 teachers from both private and public high schools in Langsa City, an urban area, and Aceh Tamiang Regency, a rural area. Data is acquired through the test and questionnaire to capture teachers' TPACK levels. The data analysis used in this research is Global Moran's I and Anselin Local Moran's I to visualize patterns and disparities in teachers' TPACK levels. The research results reveal a significant disparity between urban (Langsa City) and rural (Aceh Tamiang Regency) areas. Langsa City has a random TPACK distribution pattern (Global Moran's I Index = 0,02438), while Aceh Tamiang Regency has a clustered pattern (Global Moran's I Index = 0,17018). This indicates that Aceh Tamiang Regency has higher disparities among high school teachers in TPACK levels compared to Langsa City. Then, Langsa City has better equality in the quality of high school teachers. Furthermore, analysis from Anselin's Local Moran's I reveals a concentration of teachers with the highest TPACK levels in the municipal district and teachers with low TPACK levels in the peripheral area. It can be found in both regions' hot and cold spots. Received: 2024-06-13  Revised: 2024-07-03 Accepted: 2025-06-26 Published: 2025-07-30

Abstract

Pusung Kapal Village has ecological and geological potential, positioning it as a promising geotourism destination. However, its current utilization remains limited due to insufficient geospatial information regarding the area's potential and a lack of facilitated spatial data-driven tourism management. This community sevice program was conducted in Pusung Kapal Village, Seruway District, Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh Province. The primary objective of this project was to accelerate geotourism development through territorial potential mapping and the implementation of geospatial technology-based innovations. The target of community service is the community and tourism-aware groups in Pusung Kapal Village. This service aims to accelerate the development of geotourism through mapping the potential of the area and implementing innovations based on geospatial technology. The activities consist of a preparation stage, an implementation stage, an evaluation stage, and a reporting stage. The outcomes derived from this endeavor include 1) enhanced community competency in geotourism mapping and promotion, 2) the distribution map of geotourism site footprints; 3) the geotourism promotional video of Pusung Kapal Village, 4) the geotourism information website of Pusung Kapal Village. This activity is expected to foster community self-reliance in their efforts to advance geotourism destinations within Pusung Kapal Village.

Abstract

Students should be the primary beneficiaries of teachers' TPACK proficiency. This study aimed to investigate the proficiency of pre-service geography teachers in Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) through the lens of student perceptions. TPACK, a framework that integrates technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge, is crucial for effective teaching in the digital age. By understanding students' perceptions, this research sought to identify areas where pre-service teachers excel and where they might need further development. The respondents of this research were public high school (Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri/SMAN) students from Langsa City, Aceh Province. The number of respondents involved was 184 students. They came from SMAN 2 Langsa, SMAN 4 Langsa, and SMAN 5 Langsa where the pre-service teacher was placed during their teaching practice. The research method used is quantitative descriptive based on a questionnaire which aims to measure TPACK proficiency in pre-service geography teachers according to student perception. The results of the study showed that pre-service teachers' TPACK proficiency was very good based on the respondents' perspectives, especially in the aspects of pedagogy and geography content knowledge. However, technological knowledge has results at the good level, which is lower than the other two aspects. Based on these results, the recommendation offered is that the technological capabilities of pre-service geography teachers should to be improved to provide a better learning experience for students.
