Abstract

The phenomenon of increased involvement of homemaker women in parasocial relationships serves as the background for this research, which poses challenges in managing domestic time. The Nineties Teume community is a fan group of the South Korean boy band Treasure, where the majority of its members are housewives. The aim of this study is to identify the factors causing homemaker women in the Nineties Teume community to engage in parasocial relationships, to analyze the time management strategies they employ, and to examine Islamic perspectives on the phenomenon. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, documentation studies, and comprehensive literature reviews. The results indicate that parasocial relationships develop as a coping mechanism for stress, personal entertainment needs, and recreational fulfillment through music media; common time management strategies include optimizing leisure time, implementing flexible schedules, prioritizing family and domestic tasks, practicing pragmatic multitasking, receiving support from family members, and adjusting to time-related challenges. From an Islamic perspective, this phenomenon is criticized because it tends to idolize nonmuslim figures and listen to music that contradicts Shari’ah values.

Abstract

The shifting structure of roles within households continues to evolve alongside the growing involvement of women in sustaining the family's financial needs. This study explores how the Islamic value of ta’awun underpins women’s active participation as primary economic providers within the nuclear family. It aims to portray the lived experiences of women engaged in both informal and formal sectors while interpreting the dual-role dynamics they encounter daily. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and quantitative data from questionnaires. Contributing factors include financial pressure, the need for self-actualization, and inadequate spousal support—each contributing to dual-role burdens and relational tensions. From an Islamic standpoint, this involvement is considered religiously legitimate and embodies a cooperative spirit rooted in blessing. The findings highlight a transformation in gender roles within the family and emphasize the importance of spiritual values in harmonizing domestic and public responsibilities. Furthermore, the study is expected to provide a foundation for developing family policies that are more responsive to the realities faced by women in contemporary society. Keywords: ta’awun, gender roles, working women, nuclear family, spiritual values Abstrak Perubahan struktur peran dalam rumah tangga terus berkembang seiring dengan meningkatnya partisipasi perempuan dalam menopang kebutuhan ekonomi keluarga.

Abstract

Postpartum depression is a serious psychological disorder experienced by some mothers after giving birth and has the potential to disrupt family harmony. This study aims to analyze the effect of postpartum depression on family harmony and explore prevention efforts in the context of Islamic family law. This study employs a qualitative approach using a case study method involving six postpartum mothers and one clinical psychologist as expert informants. Data collection techniques include literature review and in-depth interviews. The results indicate that postpartum depression is triggered by insufficient mental preparedness, limited social support, and cultural and family environmental pressures. Symptoms include sleep disturbances, unstable emotions, and self-harm impulses. The absence of the husband in providing emotional support is a crucial factor exacerbating the mother's psychological condition. Conversely, spiritual approaches such as dzikir, prayer, and self-reflection have proven to bring inner peace and aid in the recovery process. Islamic Family Law emphasizes the importance of the husband's role in supporting his wife physically and emotionally, as well as upholding the principles of mawaddah wa rahmah within the household. This study recommends the importance of premarital and prenatal education, the husband's involvement in child-rearing, fulfilling the wife's right to support and protection within the household, and collaboration between medical and religious approaches in supporting postpartum mothers.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of parenting styles influenced by Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) on children's mental health through the framework of maqashid sharia. Using a qualitative approach, this study reveals that children raised by narcissistic parents are at risk of damage in their emotional, social, and cognitive development. this research promotes a more empathetic and constructive parenting model. Furthermore, muhasabah (self-reflection) is presented as a spiritual solution for parents with narcissistic tendencies, helping them to become more aware, responsible, and emotionally present caregivers. This study contributes to developing a parenting framework that aligns not only with psychological well-being but also with the ethical and spiritual values of Islam, aiming to preserve the overall well-being and moral integrity of children.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research investigates comparatively the translation model of the term color (لون) and its derivations in the holy Qur'an. In this case Arabic is the source language, while Indonesian and English are the target languages. This research is a descriptive-analytical research using a qualitative approach. The data analyzed were in the form of 33 words related to color terms which include: white, green, black, yellow, blue, and red. The data were then analyzed for their translation model into Indonesian in the Indonesian Koran (Kemenag RI version) and in the English Koran (Shaheeh International version). The basis for the translation analysis used by researchers is the Foreignization and Domestication approach proposed by Lawrence Venuti. The results of the analysis show that translation using the foreignization approach is more dominantly used by translators in the target language (TL), namely Indonesian and English compared to the domestication approach. This happens because translators prioritize the presence of source language culture to readers. Meanwhile, the domestication approach is applied by the translator if the target language does not have an equivalent form with the source language. Abstract

This study investigates how real-life conversations with international tourists enhance the speaking competence of English for Tour Guide students in Banyuwangi. The project was designed to provide authentic language develop both linguistic and intercultural competence. Qualitative descriptive as approach and data were collected through observations and students’ reflective reports. The findings indicate that while students displayed enthusiasm, hospitality, and the ability to initiate interactions, they faced significant challenges in vocabulary, pronunciation, and translating cultural concepts into meaningful English explanations. Literal translations often reduced the symbolic value of rituals such as Gandrung Sewu and Tumpengan, leading to incomplete communication. Psychological barriers, including nervousness and fear of making mistakes, also emerged, although these decreased once interactions began. Non-verbal strategies such as gestures and visual aids supported communication but required stronger verbal elaboration. Overall, the study suggests that authentic exposure provides powerful opportunities for building communicative confidence and resilience, yet students need structured preparation to succeed in unpredictable intercultural encounters. By combining linguistic, intercultural, and psychological readiness, students can perform more effectively as cultural mediators and ambassadors of Banyuwangi in global tourism contexts.

Abstract

This study critically examines the presence and representation of neoliberal discourse in a Vocational High School English textbook used in Indonesia. Drawing on Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), the research uncovers how the textbook's language, content, and imagery reflect and perpetuate neoliberal ideologies, including individualism, competitiveness, and market-driven values. The researchers collected the data from an English textbook of a vocational high school in Indonesia, representing the neoliberal aspect. By analyzing textual and visual elements, this study reveals how such ideologies subtly shape students' perceptions of success, identity, and societal roles beyond language learning objectives. The findings demonstrate that the textbook serves as a tool for language acquisition and a medium for ideological dissemination, promoting values aligned with global neoliberal norms. This research highlights the importance of critically evaluating educational materials to ensure they align with the holistic development of students and local cultural contexts. We recommend that curriculum developers, policymakers, and educators foster a more balanced and contextually relevant approach to English language education.
