Abstract

Generation Z has unique characteristics that distinguish them from previous generations, such as dependence on technology and preference for dynamic and interactive learning methods. This article aims to examine the effectiveness of interactive approaches in learning Islamic Religious Education (PAI) for Generation Z students. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach in several secondary schools in Indonesia. Data were obtained through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The results show that interactive approaches, such as the use of digital media, group discussions, and simulations, can increase students' engagement, understanding, and application of religious values. This article recommends wider implementation of these methods to optimize PAI learning.

Abstract

The cultivation of Islamic character values in the school environment is one of the important missions in value-based education. This article aims to examine the role of teachers in shaping Islamic character through routine activities at school. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method in several Islamic-based schools. Data were obtained through interviews, observations and documentation. The results show that routine activities such as congregational prayers, recitation of the Qur'an, and discussion of Islamic values are effective in building students' character. This article recommends close collaboration between teachers, students, and parents in supporting the formation of a solid Islamic character.

Abstract

Instilling Islamic values in students is one of the main objectives of Islamic religious education (PAI). Stories about the Prophet and his companions are one of the effective methods to convey these values. This study aims to examine how PAI teachers use stories of Prophets and Companions as learning media in the classroom, as well as their impact on students' understanding and behavior. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method in one of the elementary schools in Indonesia. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and document analysis. The results show that the use of Prophet and Companion stories can increase students' interest in learning religion and help them understand and internalize Islamic values. This article suggests the development of a story-based learning module to improve the effectiveness of PAI learning.

Abstract

Professional zakat is one of the instruments in poverty alleviation as long as it can be managed properly. The Regency Government in collaboration with BAZNAS implemented a salary cut strategy to increase the participation of ASN and its employees to pay professional zakat. So the objectives of this study are, first, to explore the management of professional zakat carried out by BAZNAS through collaboration with the Regency Government, Second, to analyze the role of professional zakat in alleviating poverty, Third, This study was conducted with a qualitative approach through a case study type. The case study was conducted at BAZNAS Situbondo, because BAZNAS collaborated with the Regency Government to cut ASN salaries, especially ASN in the Ministry of Religion to help madrasas and teachers whose economic conditions were not yet classified as prosperous. Data were collected through observation, interviews and documentation, and strengthened by FGD with related parties. Data were analyzed interpretively and tested with triangulation of sources and techniques. This study produced findings, first, zakat management carried out by BAZNAS uses the following management principles: Planning, Organizing, Actuating and Controlling, with the realization of collection, distribution and utilization, reporting and accountability, and financing, second, professional zakat has not been able to completely eradicate poverty, but can only be an additional income for mustahik, third, the design of the professional zakat management model is more on the model of providing educational facilities and teacher salary assistance, so that it can increase the income of teachers, especially honorary and religious teachers.

Abstract

This article aims to explore and understand the role and empowerment of communities in the creative economy sector, focusing on their ability to further develop through the enhancement of existing skills. The role and empowerment of the community are carried out as an effort to improve the quality of community welfare through the creative economy, which includes family welfare, empowering the poor, elevating the dignity of the lower-class society, and positioning the community as the subject in taking action. Village communities, with their limited knowledge in living the activities of the creative economy as small businesses in the traditional sector, face limited infrastructure and governmental access, which becomes one of the inhibiting factors for the development and growth of the economy at both regional and national levels in general. Furthermore, maqashid shariah is used as a perspective in observing the implementation of the creative economy, where Islam has guaranteed the right to life for everyone in the same position by establishing fundamental elements in the shari'ah guidelines, namely the preservation of religion, life, lineage, wealth, and intellect. This research used the literature study method, which was a method used by the author to collect several books or journals related to the research theme. Thus, the literature study was a research method conducted by using books, journals, and other literature as reading materials, notes, and sources of information in researching to provide answers to the problems that were studied.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the activity of Sholat Mujahadah as local wisdom towards teacher spirituality in educating students at the Mambaul Ulum Islamic Boarding School. The Mambaul Ulum Islamic Boarding School, which is an Islamic boarding school based on the Koran, has interesting habits carried out by its educators. This habit is transformed into a form of worship which they call the mujahadah routineThe Mujahadah tradition carried out at the Mambaul Ulum Islamic Boarding School is a manifestation of spiritual worship that not only strengthens the relationship between teachers and God but also functions as an effort to form the character of students. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques are done through observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis uses the Miles and Huberman model. The results of the study indicate that Sholat Mujahadah has a significant influence on teacher spirituality. This tradition helps teachers develop calmness, patience, and sincerity in educating students, improving the quality of teaching. This local wisdom not only functions as a religious ritual, but also strengthens social ties and spiritual values ​​in the Islamic boarding school environment.

Abstract

Kemampuan berpikir kritis menjadi salah satu keterampilan yang penting dikembangkan dalam proses pembelajaran, termasuk pada mata pelajaran Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam (SKI). Namun, pembelajaran SKI sering kali masih berpusat pada guru dan kurang melibatkan siswa secara aktif. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan strategi pembelajaran yang dapat merangsang partisipasi dan pemikiran kritis siswa. Pengaruh ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi penerapan strategi pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada mata pelajaran Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam (SKI) di Madrasah Aliyah Al Huda Banyuwangi Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi partisipatif dan wawancara semi-terstruktur dengan subjek penelitian yang terdiri atas guru SKI, Wakil Kepala Sekolah Bidang Kurikulum, dan siswa kelas X. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan strategi PBL secara signifikan meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Mereka mampu menganalisis informasi secara mendalam, mengevaluasi berbagai pandangan, serta menyampaikan argumen yang didukung data valid. Tantangan dalam implementasi PBL meliputi keterbatasan waktu pembelajaran dan keterampilan guru dalam menerapkan strategi tersebut. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa PBL dapat menjadi strategi pembelajaran yang efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada mata pelajaran SKI di Madrasah Aliyah Al Huda Banyuwangi. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan adanya pelatihan guru terkait PBL serta dukungan kebijakan sekolah untuk penerapannya secara optimal.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman anak usia dini di Taman Kanak-Kanak Islam Terpadu Insan Kamil Purwakarta mengenai tata cara wudhu dan salat melalui penerapan pembelajaran kontekstual. Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) ini dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus dengan melibatkan 15 siswa. Setiap siklus meliputi tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi, di mana siswa terlibat dalam kegiatan praktis yang relevan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman siswa, dengan persentase keberhasilan naik dari 70% pada siklus pertama menjadi 85% pada siklus kedua. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran kontekstual efektif dalam membantu siswa memahami tata cara wudhu dan salat. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan penerapan metode serupa dalam pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) pada tingkat usia dini untuk mendukung pemahaman praktik ibadah secara mendalam. This study aims to improve young children's understanding of ablution (wudhu) and prayer practices at TK IT Insan Kamil Purwakarta through the application of contextual learning. This Classroom Action Research (CAR) was conducted in two cycles involving 15 students. Each cycle included stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection, where students engaged in practical activities relevant to daily life. Evaluation results showed an increase in students’ understanding, with success rates rising from 70% in the first cycle to 85% in the second. These findings indicate that contextual learning effectively enhances students’ comprehension of ablution and prayer practices. The study recommends the broader application of this method in early childhood Islamic education to foster a deeper understanding of religious practices.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia, as traditional Islamic educational institutions, have undergone significant transformations in recent decades. Adopting a modern curriculum is important to ensure that pesantren students have skills that are relevant to the times. By integrating religious and general sciences, pesantren can produce graduates who not only have a strong Islamic understanding, but are also competitive in the world of work. While existing studies have explored the integration of modern subjects into pesantren curricula in several regions, there remains a research gap concerning how this integration unfolds in East Java, where distinct cultural and regional dynamics influence educational practices. Therefore, this research aims at analysing the development patterns of pesantren in Indonesia in a case study of the Sidosermo Pesantren Area in Surabaya by highlighting how they integrate deeply rooted traditions with the demands of modernity. Using a qualitative approach, this study collected data through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and literature study. The results revealed that the pesantren managed to maintain traditional values, such as the teaching of the yellow book and grave pilgrimage, while adopting modern elements that include formal curriculum, digital technology, and professional-based management. This integration process not only strengthens the role of pesantren as centers of religious education, but also places them as agents of social change that are responsive to the challenges of the times. Nevertheless, pesantren are faced with a great challenge in maintaining a balance between maintaining tradition and innovating. This study demonstrates that the success of pesantren in facing modernity depends on their ability to hold on to fundamental Islamic values, open to global developments and information technology today. The recommendations include developing a hybrid curriculum combining religion, science, and technology; integrating e-learning tools; promoting pesantren-based economic initiatives; and strengthening alumni networks to support institutional growth and student careers. Pondok pesantren di Indonesia, sebagai lembaga pendidikan Islam tradisional, telah mengalami transformasi yang signifikan dalam beberapa dekade terakhir. Penerapan kurikulum modern menjadi penting untuk memastikan bahwa para santri memiliki keterampilan yang relevan dengan perkembangan zaman. Dengan mengintegrasikan ilmu agama dan ilmu umum, pesantren dapat menghasilkan lulusan yang tidak hanya memiliki pemahaman Islam yang kuat, tetapi juga mampu bersaing di dunia kerja. Meskipun studi sebelumnya telah meneliti integrasi mata pelajaran modern dalam kurikulum pesantren di beberapa daerah, masih terdapat kesenjangan penelitian mengenai bagaimana integrasi tersebut berlangsung di Jawa Timur, di mana dinamika budaya dan regional yang khas memengaruhi praktik pendidikan. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pola pengembangan pesantren di Indonesia melalui studi kasus di Kawasan Pesantren Sidosermo Surabaya, dengan menyoroti bagaimana mereka mengintegrasikan tradisi yang mengakar kuat dengan tuntutan modernitas. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif, penelitian ini mengumpulkan data melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif, dan studi pustaka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pesantren berhasil mempertahankan nilai-nilai tradisional, seperti pengajaran kitab kuning dan ziarah makam, sekaligus mengadopsi elemen-elemen modern yang mencakup kurikulum formal, teknologi digital, dan manajemen berbasis profesional. Proses integrasi ini tidak hanya memperkuat peran pesantren sebagai pusat pendidikan agama, tetapi juga menempatkan mereka sebagai agen perubahan sosial yang responsif terhadap tantangan zaman. Namun demikian, pesantren dihadapkan pada tantangan besar dalam menjaga keseimbangan antara pelestarian tradisi dan inovasi. Studi ini menunjukkan bahwa keberhasilan pesantren dalam menghadapi modernitas bergantung pada kemampuan mereka untuk berpegang pada nilai-nilai dasar Islam, terbuka terhadap perkembangan global dan teknologi informasi saat ini. Rekomendasi dari penelitian ini mencakup pengembangan kurikulum hibrida yang menggabungkan agama, sains, dan teknologi; integrasi perangkat e-learning; penguatan inisiatif ekonomi berbasis pesantren; serta penguatan jaringan alumni untuk mendukung pertumbuhan kelembagaan dan karier santri.
