Abstract

This study explores the strategic operational management decisions implemented by MB Bakery & Coffee and evaluates its competitive position within Palu City's coffee shop industry using Porter’s Five Forces analysis. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews conducted in Besusu Tengah Urban Village, East Palu District. The analysis focused on ten strategic decisions in operational management, revealing how MB Bakery & Coffee has adapted to the dynamic and competitive landscape. The Porter’s Five Forces framework identified several key findings. First, the emergence of new coffee shops in Palu presents a significant competitive threat, requiring MB Bakery & Coffee to strengthen its value proposition. Second, customer purchasing power remains stable, primarily supported by loyal, long-standing patrons. However, the influx of new cafés and shifting customer preferences present challenges in attracting new clientele. Third, the threat of substitute products is currently minimal, though continuous innovation is essential to sustain market relevance. Fourth, supplier power is notably high, as MB Bakery & Coffee maintains strict quality standards for food ingredients and coffee beans, reinforcing its commitment to product excellence. Lastly, competition intensity is strong, with 67 coffee shops recorded in Palu City as of 2023. MB Bakery & Coffee faces direct rivalry from two businesses with similar concepts, highlighting the need for ongoing strategic refinement. The study concludes that while MB Bakery & Coffee has effectively executed several operational strategies, maintaining a competitive edge in Palu’s saturated market requires continual innovation, quality control, and customer engagement

Abstract

This study aims to enhance the quality of teaching in elementary schools by leveraging technology, with a focus on developing students' digital literacy skills. A descriptive qualitative method was used with two teachers as research subjects at SD Inpres Malakantu. The study's results showed a lack of technology use in learning, with the primary teaching materials still being books. The researcher provided examples of multimedia-based learning materials, particularly utilizing the slide master feature in Microsoft PowerPoint, Canva, and Google Classroom. This study found that the limitations of teachers' technical skills can be overcome through the development of skills using technology. The integration of technology in elementary schools is considered to increase student engagement and the quality of learning. The use of technology at SD Inpres Malakantu was identified as a solution to challenges in delivering learning materials. Research recommendations include strengthening teacher technology skills training, full support from schools and the government in integrating technology into the curriculum, and further research to understand the long-term impact of technology implementation on student achievement and their learning experiences.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how library management can contribute to improving students' reading interest at SD Inpres 1 Kawatuna. Based on interviews with the principal, teachers, and library managers, it was found that although the library facilities are quite adequate, the main challenge faced is the low interest of students in visiting the library. The main factors influencing the low interest in reading are the limited variety of book collections relevant to students' interests, as well as the lack of engaging literacy activities. Therefore, more creative efforts are needed to enhance literacy programs that can capture students' interest and foster better reading habits. Additionally, this study highlights the importance of integrating technology into literacy activities, such as the use of digital applications and e-books, to attract students who are more familiar with technology. Although challenges related to limited funds still exist, support from various parties, such as the government, the community, and parents, is necessary to create a conducive and attractive library environment for students. With effective library management, enhanced book collections, and engaging literacy activities, it is hoped that students' interest in reading will increase, ultimately contributing to improved education quality in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to optimize raw material inventory control and reduce cost waste at CV Sidomulyo using the linear programming method assisted by POM-QM for Windows software. The data used consists of primary data in the form of inventory quantities and raw material prices and secondary data from company documents. The linear programming method was chosen because it is able to provide an optimal solution in allocating limited resources by considering various existing constraints, making it suitable for inventory efficiency problems. The results of the analysis show that the optimal annual procurement quantities are 150 liters of paint, 20 kg of nails, 24 pcs of glue, and 2,480 sheets of wood or 24.80 m³. The application of this method resulted in cost savings of Rp68,814,500 compared to the previous cost. Theoretically, this research strengthens the application of efficiency and optimization concepts in operations management through a quantitative approach, and proves that linear programming can be used as a strategic tool in inventory decision making. The limitation of this study lies in the scope of data that only covers one production period and has not considered price fluctuations or seasonal demand. The findings are expected to be the basis for further research and practical reference in more efficient inventory management.

Abstract

In the era of globalization, halal certification has become a crucial element in the marketing of food, beverages, and pharmaceuticals, particularly for culinary businesses. This is due to the increasing demand from Muslim consumers who require products that comply with halal standards. In Islam, consumed food and products must be halal and thoyyib, as prescribed in the Qur'an and Hadith. However, most SMEs businesses in Desa Masaingi have yet to obtain halal certification, which ensures that their products and services meet the halal standards set by the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH). This community service aimed to enhance the knowledge and awareness of both the community and business actors about the importance of halal certification, halal production processes, and the market opportunities that can open up by obtaining such certification. The methods used included location observation, inspection of home industries, education on halal and thoyyib products, and registration for Business Identification Numbers (NIB) and halal certification through the OSS application and BPJPH official website. The results of this community service showed that these activities successfully improved the community's understandingof halal principles and motivated culinary business actors to obtain halal certification. Consequently, culinary business actors in Desa Masaingi, particularly in the Pangi tourist area, are expected to be more open to the halal certification process and enhance their product competitiveness in broader markets.
