Abstract

Although many scholars have conducted studies on Language Learning Strategies (LLS) around the world, this issue is still new in the context of English for Medical Purposes (EMP), especially as used by Indonesian pharmacy students. Further, a majority of those previous studies have been conducted using exclusively quantitative research. In response to these empirical and methodological gaps, the current research adopts a qualitative case study to examine the LLS used by Indonesian pharmacy students, as guided by Oxford’s (1990) LLS theory. This study utilized in-depth interviews to gather information from participants. The thematic analysis of the semi-structured interviews presented five major strategies used by learners: engaging in social interaction, enriching their vocabulary, using web based language learning, practicing through online platforms, and employing fun learning. Findings demonstrate that most of their learning strategies involve employing online platforms.

Abstract

This study aims to explore and analyze the correlation between Islamic law (fiqh) and Sharia economics in Indonesia, both from a theoretical and practical perspective. The research methods used are literature study and descriptive analysis. Data was collected through a literature review from various relevant sources, including academic literature, official documents, and case studies related to the implementation of Islamic law in the economic context in Indonesia. The results showed that the correlation between Islamic law and Sharia economics in Indonesia is very significant. Fiqh, as the foundation of Islamic law, has a major impact on the development and implementation of Islamic economic principles in Indonesia. Various aspects of Islamic law such as muamalah (economic transactions), zakat, waqf, and others, provide a strong theoretical foundation for the practice of Islamic economics in Indonesia. However, there are challenges in integrating fiqh with Islamic economic practices in Indonesia, including in terms of harmonization between the principles of Islamic law and existing government regulations. In addition, public awareness and understanding of Islamic law and sharia economics also play an important role in the successful implementation and development of the sharia economy in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the socio-cultural factors that form the background of Islamic legal thinking, both in historical and contemporary contexts. Thus, this study seeks to understand how socio-cultural factors influence the development and interpretation of Islamic law over time. This research uses a qualitative approach by conducting a literature review as well as a historical and contemporary analysis of the development of Islamic law. Data is obtained through literature studies that include primary and secondary sources, such as classical Islamic law books, historical texts, and related academic studies. The results showed that socio-cultural factors have a significant role in shaping Islamic legal thinking. From a historical perspective, the development of Islamic law is often influenced by the socio-cultural context in which it developed, such as customs, customs of society, and political-economic conditions. Meanwhile, in the contemporary perspective, globalization, modernization, and other socio-cultural changes also affect the interpretation and application of Islamic law in society. This study concludes that understanding socio-cultural factors is very important in understanding the dynamics of Islamic legal thought. By considering the socio-cultural context, Islamic legal thinkers can develop relevant and adaptive approaches in formulating legal solutions that are by the demands of the times.
