Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini mengimplementasikan game-based learning atau pembelajaran berbasis permainan untuk meningkatkan kosa-kata Bahasa Inggris siswa di UPT SD Negeri Sukaratu, Kec. Pagelaran, Kab. Pringsewu, Lampung. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana game-based learning diimplementasikan agar dapat meningkatkan kosa-kata Bahasa Inggris siswa kelas 5 di UPT SD Negeri Sukaratu, Kec. Pagelaran, Kab. Pringsewu, Lampung. Program ini dimulai dengan memberikan materi tentang berbagai topik dasar dalam Bahasa Inggris dengan metode game-based learning kepada para peserta didik. Metode kegiatan yang digunakan yaitu berupa pengajaran dan pendampingan dengan menggunakan Teknik seperti spelling bee, singing a song, dan beberapa game lain. Proses kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat dilaksanakan di UPT SD Negeri Sukaratu, Kec. Pagelaran, Kab. Pringsewu, Lampung selama 6 minggu, yang dilaksanakan pada tanggal 4 Oktober – 8 November 2023. Dengan adanya program PKM ini, para peserta didik dapat meningkatkan kosa kata dalam Bahasa Inggris secara aktif dan menyenangkan.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of VoiceSpice as a language-learning tool, focusing on its usability, advantages, limitations, and overall impact on students' speaking practice by the students’ perceptions. Moreover, much of the current literature focuses on quantitative measures or general outcomes, leaving a gap in understanding students' personal experiences and challenges with recording technology. Without exploring these individual perspectives, it is difficult to address the barriers that may prevent students from fully leveraging these tools for reflective and autonomous learning. The sample in this study consisted of 15 EFL students who studied English at Universitas Aisyah Pringsewu. Data was collected through observation to get a direct picture of the learning activities carried out, then questionnaires were given to all students and to get more in-depth information, after that doing interview were conducted with 15 students. The survey and feedback results indicate that voice recording has proven to be a useful tool for supporting speaking practice in language learning, with user feedback indicating ease of use, convenience, and support for speaking skill development. The conclusion of VoiceSpice has demonstrated its utility in supporting speaking practice, with users praising its ease of use, convenience, and positive impact on speaking skills. While effective for basic language practice, limitations such as unstable sound quality and the absence of advanced features, including pronunciation checking, were noted. This study suggests that improvements in audio quality and the addition of accuracy-checking features could enhance its effectiveness and usability

Abstract

 Public speaking merupakan kunci sukses yang dibutuhkan pada era globalisasi saat ini yang segala sesuatunya penuh dengan persaingan. Jika sudah seperti demikian, kita tidak akan memiliki banyak kesempatan dan peluang serta informasi akibat minimnya relasi karena komunikasi yang kita pakai kurang baik. Mahasiswa/i merupakan generasi muda yang akan menjadi calon public speaker, tentunya seorang public speaker harus berani berbicara didepan umum. Maka salah satu upaya akademisi agar para mahasiswa/i dapat lebih berani dan terampil berbicara didepan publik itu dengan cara menciptakan sebuah wadah tempat belajar public speaking. Salah satu contohnya adalah organisasi yang bergerak dibidang program studi, himpunan mahasiswa prodi farmasi (HIMAFA). Oleh karena itu penulis ingin memfokuskan seberapa jauh peningkatan kemampuan public speaking yang dimiliki oleh mahasiswa/i HIMAFA dan hambatan yang terjadi sehingga peningkatan public speaking pada HIMAFA tidak terwujud. Pelaksanaan kegiatan ini merupakan proses untuk menambah pengetahuan ilmiah yang ditujukan ke ranah mahasiswa. Penerapan ini dilakukan dengan cara yang sederhana tetapi penting dipahami oleh sasaran sehingga tujuan pelaksanaan kegiatan ini dapat tercapai semaksimal mungkin. Berdasarkan hasil kegiatan ini, diketahui bahwa terjadi 1) peningkatan Public Speaking Skill dengan mengaplikasikan tips dalam mengatasi hambatan, 2) memberikan materi terkait isu terkini terkait kefarmasian, 3) pentingnya literasi sebelum mengemukakan pendapat.

Abstract

This study explores the advantages and disadvantages of using technology in language learning, focusing on tools such as Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL), mobile applications, and online learning platforms. Through a review of recent literature, it is evident that technological tools significantly enhance language acquisition, particularly in listening, reading, vocabulary development, and pronunciation. CALL systems, with their multimedia and interactive features, have been shown to improve learner engagement and retention, while mobile applications offer flexibility and autonomy, allowing learners to study at their own pace. However, challenges remain, including the lack of teacher-student interaction in online platforms, reduced opportunities for real-time communication, and potential issues with learner motivation and consistency. The findings suggest that a blended learning model, combining the strengths of technology with the guidance of traditional classroom instruction, provides the most effective approach to language learning. Teachers play a crucial role in structuring learning experiences, offering feedback, and maintaining learner engagement. While technology has the potential to transform language education, its integration requires careful planning to address its limitations. Further research is needed to evaluate the long-term impacts of digital tools and to refine strategies for their effective use.

Abstract

Abstract – Abstract in English This study examines the various categories of illocutionary acts present in the film Agak Laen. The central research question guiding this investigation is: What types of illocutionary acts are utilized in the movie 'Agak Laen'? The primary objective of this research is to systematically categorize the illocutionary acts observed in the film. The methodological approach employed is descriptive qualitative, involving a structured analytical process comprising identification, classification, detailed examination, and final interpretation. Data collection was conducted through repeated viewings of the film, careful listening to character dialogues, and systematic categorization of speech acts based on established linguistic frameworks. The findings reveal that the illocutionary acts in Agak Laen encompass five key types: commissive, representative, directive, expressive, and declarative. Each type serves a distinct communicative function, contributing to the film’s narrative dynamics and interpersonal exchanges. These acts not only facilitate character interactions but also reflect underlying sociocultural nuances embedded within the dialogues. In conclusion, this analysis underscores the significance of illocutionary acts in shaping discourse within cinematic narratives. By identifying and classifying these speech acts, the study highlights their role in conveying intentionality, advancing plot development, and mirroring broader communicative norms. Pertanyaan penelitian yang menjadi fokus kajian ini adalah: Jenis-jenis tindak ilokusi apa sajakah yang digunakan dalam film 'Agak Laen'? Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah untuk mengklasifikasikan secara sistematis tindak ilokusi yang ditemukan dalam film tersebut. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif, dengan tahapan analisis meliputi identifikasi, klasifikasi, pemeriksaan mendalam, dan interpretasi akhir. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui penayangan berulang film, penyimakan cermat terhadap dialog antarkarakter, serta pengategorian ujaran berdasarkan kerangka linguistik yang mapan. Temuan penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa tindak ilokusi dalam Agak Laen mencakup lima jenis utama, yaitu komisif, representatif, direktif, ekspresif, dan deklaratif. Setiap jenis memiliki fungsi komunikatif yang khas, berkontribusi pada dinamika naratif dan interaksi antartokoh. Tindak ilokusi ini tidak hanya mendukung komunikasi antarkarakter, tetapi juga merefleksikan nuansa sosiokultural yang melatarbelakangi percakapan mereka. Sebagai simpulan, analisis ini menegaskan peran penting tindak ilokusi dalam membentuk wacana di dalam narasi film. Dengan mengidentifikasi dan mengklasifikasikan tindak ujaran tersebut, penelitian ini menggarisbawahi fungsinya dalam menyampaikan maksud, menggerakkan alur cerita, serta mencerminkan norma komunikasi yang lebih luas. Abstract

Background of the study:Most teachers in primary and secondary schools continue to rely on conventional teaching materials. A key issue is the limited knowledge and skills in using digital design tools such as Canva, which hinders their ability to create engaging and interactive teaching media.Purpose and scope of the paper:This community service program aims to enhance teachers’ digital literacy and creative capacity by introducing Canva as a practical and innovative tool for developing digital teaching media, specifically targeting educators in Pringsewu Regency.Methods:The program engaged 20 teachers from various disciplines. It employed a combination of workshops, hands-on training, guided tutorials, and evaluations. Data collection methods included pre- and post-training questionnaires, observations, and documentation of participants’ teaching media outputs.Results:Following the program, 95% of participants showed improved skills in using Canva. Additionally, more than 25 digital teaching products were created. Teachers also reported increased confidence and motivation in integrating digital media into their instructional practices.Conclusion:Canva proves to be an effective and accessible tool for enhancing teachers’ capabilities in designing digital teaching materials. With proper training and support, teachers can independently develop innovative teaching media to foster better student engagement and improve learning outcomes

Abstract

English public speaking skills are important skills that postgraduate students need to have, especially in facing international academic forums, such as seminars, conferences, and global residency activities. This community service activity aims to improve the English public speaking skills of postgraduate students at Aisyah Pringsewu University, especially from the Master of Midwifery and Master of Nursing study programs. The program is implemented online for eight weeks through a series of trainings that include basic communication theories, presentation techniques, public speaking exercises, and academic conference simulations. The implementation method includes identifying participant needs, compiling teaching modules, providing materials, individual and group practices, and feedback sessions. The results of community service related to public speaking training are an increase in students' oral communication skills by 11.9% based on the results of pre-test and post-test evaluations. In addition, the outputs produced in this training are the preparation of training modules, and the publication of scientific articles. This activity not only provides cognitive impacts, but also equips participants with the confidence to be better prepared to participate in international conferences, student exchanges, or global research collaborations that contribute to the academic image of the institution at the international level.

Abstract

The use of digital technology has become an integral part of everyday life, including in the fields of security and law enforcement such as in the Pringsewu Police Resort. However, challenges in adopting and utilizing digital communication skills are still faced by many members of the Pringsewu Police Resort. Therefore, this community service aims to enhance the digital communication skills of Pringsewu Police Resort members through a series of training sessions. The methods used in this service include observation/interview methods, lecture methods, training methods, and the use of relevant digital resources. The results of this community service are highly effective in providing value in terms of knowledge, understanding, and application of digital communication skills by Pringsewu Police Resort members. They become more proficient in using various platforms and digital tools to communicate effectively, both internally and externally. Furthermore, active participation of members in the training demonstrates a high level of concern and enthusiasm for self-improvement and service to the community. By enhancing the digital communication skills of Pringsewu Police Resort members, it will directly contribute to the positive impact on the effectiveness and efficiency of law enforcement tasks and service to the community. The next step is to maintain continuity and expand the scope of the program to ensure sustainability and maximize the benefits obtained.
