Abstract

This study is based on the crucial role of parents in shaping the Christian character of children, particularly in the context of the digital era, which influences the lifestyle and moral values of Generation Z. The focus of this research is to explore how parents at GBIS Sola Gratia Surakarta nurture their children's character based on Christian faith values. The study employs a qualitative case study approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving six church-member parents. The findings reveal that values such as honesty, love, and obedience to God are instilled through parental modeling and verbal guidance. However, challenges arise due to limited time, lack of spiritual understanding, and the influence of digital media. Parents require support in the form of digital literacy and faith-based parenting guidance. The church is viewed as a strategic partner in character formation. The study concludes that strong synergy between family and church is essential to develop spiritually resilient children. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya peran orang tua dalam membentuk karakter Kristiani anak, khususnya di tengah tantangan era digital yang memengaruhi gaya hidup dan nilai moral Generasi Z. Fokus penelitian ini adalah bagaimana orang tua di GBIS Sola Gratia Surakarta membina karakter anak berdasarkan nilai-nilai iman Kristen. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif jenis studi kasus, dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi terhadap enam orang tua jemaat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai-nilai seperti kejujuran, kasih, dan ketaatan kepada Tuhan ditanamkan melalui keteladanan dan nasihat verbal. Namun, tantangan muncul dari keterbatasan waktu, kurangnya pemahaman rohani, dan pengaruh media digital. Orang tua membutuhkan dukungan dalam bentuk literasi digital dan pembinaan iman. Gereja dipandang sebagai mitra strategis dalam membentuk karakter anak secara berkelanjutan. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya sinergi antara keluarga dan gereja dalam membentuk generasi yang tangguh secara spiritual.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the meaning of the act of giving offerings among the congregation of the Javanese Christian Church (GKJ) Selokaton Karanganyar in relation to the development of faith. The background of this study is based on the importance of understanding the spiritual motivation behind the practice of giving offerings, which is often viewed as merely an administrative obligation of the church. The focus of the study is directed at how the congregation's perceptions and experiences in giving offerings reflect the growth of their faith. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection through in-depth interviews with five active congregation informants. The research steps include identifying informants, conducting interviews, and thematic analysis of the data obtained. The results of the study show that giving offerings is interpreted as a form of obedience to God, an expression of gratitude, and responsibility as a member of the body of Christ. The more the congregation's faith develops, the more sincere and conscious the act of giving is. The main conclusion of this study emphasizes that the development of faith plays an important role in shaping the motivation and quality of giving offerings, so that the church needs to foster the faith of the congregation so that the act of giving becomes an integral part of worship and spiritual relationship with God. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami makna tindakan memberi persembahan di kalangan jemaat Gereja Kristen Jawa (GKJ) Selokaton Karanganyar dalam kaitannya dengan perkembangan iman. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasari oleh pentingnya memahami motivasi spiritual di balik praktik memberi persembahan, yang sering kali dipandang sekadar sebagai kewajiban administratif gereja. Fokus penelitian diarahkan pada bagaimana persepsi dan pengalaman jemaat dalam memberi persembahan mencerminkan pertumbuhan iman mereka. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam terhadap lima informan jemaat yang aktif. Langkah penelitian meliputi identifikasi informan, pelaksanaan wawancara, dan analisis tematik terhadap data yang diperoleh. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa memberi persembahan dimaknai sebagai bentuk ketaatan kepada Tuhan, ungkapan syukur, dan tanggung jawab sebagai anggota tubuh Kristus. Semakin berkembang iman jemaat, semakin tulus dan sadar pula tindakan memberi yang dilakukan. Simpulan utama penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa perkembangan iman berperan penting dalam membentuk motivasi dan kualitas pemberian persembahan, sehingga gereja perlu membina iman jemaat agar tindakan memberi menjadi bagian integral dari ibadah dan relasi spiritual dengan Allah.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Christian Religious Education (PAK) teachers’ exemplary character in shaping the spirituality of Christian students at SD Negeri Rejosari Surakarta. The research is motivated by the rise of negative behaviors such as bullying and the weak internalization of spiritual values among students, highlighting the need for teacher exemplarity as a key instrument of faith education. Using a qualitative approach through interviews, observations, and document analysis, this study explores insights from teachers, students, and the principal. The findings reveal that the exemplary life of PAK teachers significantly influences students’ spiritual formation, moral development, and social behavior. Teachers function as spiritual and moral models whose consistent demonstration of love, patience, honesty, and humility is observed, imitated, and internalized by students. Warm teacher–student relationships create a safe spiritual space, while exemplary actions within learning activities make faith values more concrete and meaningful. Teacher exemplarity also contributes to a positive school culture, fostering polite interactions, peaceful conflict resolution, and a harmonious classroom atmosphere. Despite challenges such as religious diversity and the characteristics of digital-era children, institutional support and moral recognition strengthen the teacher’s role. Overall, the study concludes that the exemplarity of PAK teachers serves as the primary foundation of students’ spiritual development and represents the core of Christian pedagogy that integrates faith and daily practice. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran keteladanan guru Pendidikan Agama Kristen (PAK) dalam pembentukan spiritualitas siswa Kristen di SD Negeri Rejosari Surakarta. Latar belakang penelitian berangkat dari meningkatnya perilaku negatif seperti bullying serta lemahnya internalisasi nilai spiritual pada siswa, sehingga keteladanan guru menjadi instrumen penting dalam pendidikan iman. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik wawancara, observasi, dan analisis dokumen untuk menggali pengalaman guru, siswa, dan kepala sekolah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keteladanan guru PAK memiliki pengaruh signifikan dalam pembentukan iman, karakter, dan perilaku sosial siswa. Guru menjadi model spiritual dan moral yang diamati, ditiru, dan diinternalisasi siswa melalui konsistensi hidup yang mencerminkan kasih, kesabaran, kejujuran, dan kerendahan hati. Relasi guru–siswa yang hangat menciptakan ruang spiritual yang aman, sedangkan keteladanan dalam proses pembelajaran menjadikan nilai iman lebih bermakna. Pengaruh keteladanan juga tampak pada budaya sekolah melalui munculnya interaksi yang sopan, penyelesaian konflik secara damai, serta atmosfer kelas yang harmonis. Penelitian ini juga menemukan tantangan seperti keberagaman agama dan karakter siswa era digital, tetapi dukungan kepala sekolah, fasilitas, dan pengakuan moral memperkuat peran guru. Secara keseluruhan, keteladanan guru PAK terbukti sebagai fondasi utama pembentukan spiritualitas siswa dan merupakan inti pedagogi Kristen yang mengintegrasikan iman dan tindakan.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of Christian religious activities in enhancing students’ learning motivation at SMK Negeri 2 Surakarta. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method using in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation as data collection techniques. The participants consisted of one Christian Religious Education (PAK) teacher as the spiritual mentor and fifteen Christian students from grades X and XI, including members of the Christian spiritual leadership team. The findings reveal that Christian spiritual activities including weekly worship services and character-building programs significantly influence students’ character formation and learning motivation. Christian values such as discipline, responsibility, honesty, perseverance, and spiritual awareness contribute to students’ diligence in learning and the development of positive study behaviors. Elements within worship, such as sermons, prayer, and praise, were found to provide inner peace, reduce stress, and generate intrinsic motivation for students to overcome academic challenges. Character-building activities also foster behavioral improvements, reflected in increased discipline, focus, and academic performance. This study concludes that Christian religious activities are not merely religious routines but serve as important instruments for developing students’ spirituality and moral character, which directly enhance their learning motivation. The findings highlight the need for schools and Christian Religious Education teachers to design more creative, relevant, and sustainable spiritual programs that support both academic growth and character development. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami peran kegiatan rohani Kristen dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa di SMK Negeri 2 Surakarta. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Informan penelitian terdiri dari 1 guru Pendidikan Agama Kristen (PAK) selaku pembina rohani serta 15 siswa Kristen dari kelas X dan XI, termasuk pengurus kegiatan rohani Kristen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan rohani Kristen, yang meliputi ibadah mingguan dan pembinaan karakter, memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap pembentukan karakter dan peningkatan motivasi belajar siswa. Nilai-nilai Kristiani seperti disiplin, tanggung jawab, kejujuran, ketekunan, serta kesadaran spiritual mendorong siswa untuk lebih tekun dalam belajar dan mengembangkan perilaku belajar positif. Unsur-unsur dalam ibadah seperti firman Tuhan, doa, dan pujian terbukti menumbuhkan ketenangan batin, mengurangi stres, serta menghadirkan dorongan intrinsik bagi siswa untuk mengatasi kesulitan akademik. Pembinaan karakter juga berkontribusi pada perubahan perilaku siswa, terlihat dari meningkatnya kedisiplinan, fokus belajar, serta peningkatan nilai akademik. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa kegiatan rohani Kristen bukan sekadar rutinitas religius, melainkan sarana pembentukan spiritualitas dan moral yang berdampak langsung pada kualitas motivasi belajar siswa. Temuan ini dapat menjadi dasar bagi sekolah dan guru PAK untuk mengembangkan program rohani yang lebih kreatif, relevan, dan berkelanjutan guna mendukung perkembangan akademik dan karakter siswa.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the formation of social and spiritual values among Generation Z children through the practice of Children’s Holy Communion at Gereja Kristen Jawa (GKJ) Dagen Palur Karanganyar as a contextual model of faith education. This research employs a qualitative approach. The findings reveal that Children’s Holy Communion plays a significant role in shaping both social and spiritual values. Socially, children demonstrate increased empathy, patience, care for others, discipline, responsibility, and a sense of belonging within family and church communities. Spiritually, they experience a deeper understanding of faith, greater appreciation of the symbolic meaning of bread and wine, and a growing awareness of their identity as members of the body of Christ. The formation of these values occurs through a continuous process that includes pre-communion instruction, active participation in worship, and post-communion involvement in church life. These findings indicate that Children’s Holy Communion functions not merely as a liturgical ritual, but as a holistic means of faith formation that integrates cognitive, affective, social, and spiritual dimensions of Generation Z children.
