Abstract

Abstrak Adanya perkembangan teknologi juga informasi menimbulkan dampak terhadap kemajuan dunia pendidikan, seperti penggunaan teknologi dengan menggunakan alat yang dapat membantu pembelajaran berupa aplikasi pembelajaran. Salah satu aplikasi yang membantu didalam proses pembelajaran terutama pembelajaran matematika adalah symbolab. Symbolab merupakan alat pendidikan matematika lanjutan yang memungkinkan pengguna aplikasi dapat belajar, berlatih dan menemukan pembahasan matematika dengan symbol dan juga notasi ilmiah yang berbentuk kaltulator ilmiah yang dapat membantu siswa agar dapat belajar dan menemukan jawaban yang diinginkan beserta pembahasan dari soal yang ditanyakan. Penggunaan aplikasi ini diharapkan dapat membantu para siswa dalam meningkatkan mutu pendidikan serta minat dan bakat siswa terhadap pembelajaran matematika. Berdasarkan percobaan yang kami lakukan dengan menggunakan symbolab untuk menyelesaikan persoalan trigonometri jumlah dan sudut maka jawaban yang kami dapatkan adalah benar. Sehingga aplikasi ini cukup baik untuk digunakan dalam menyelesaikan masalah trigonometri “jumlah dan selisih sudut”. Selain dari itu aplikasi symbolab ini juga merupakan aplikasi yang dapat diunduh secara gratis baik di handphone maupun di laptop atau komputer. Namun dibalik itu semua masih terdapat beberapa kekurangan yang ada didalam aplikasi ini, yaitu ada batasan bagi penggunaan gratis, penggunaan aplikasi ini juga membutuhkan akses internet, serta biaya yang harus dikeluarkan saat ingin berlangganan cukup mahal. Abstract

This article is a literature review which aims to provide a study of learning strategies that can be used to improve students' mathematical literacy skills in Indonesia which are still low. In this article, we discuss the factors that cause low mathematical literacy, such as personal factors, instructional factors, and environmental factors and indicators that are used as a reference for the level of mathematical literacy abilities possessed by students. This article also discusses the strategies that have been used by researchers in the research they conducted and stated that they were successful in improving students' mathematical literacy skills with the strategies and use of the learning models they used. So it can be concluded that students' low mathematical literacy skills can be overcome and improved through the use of learning strategies such as learning strategies using the Problem Based Instruction model, learning strategies using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and the SQ4R Strategy as well as other strategies that are appropriate and appropriate to the environment. learning around.

Abstract

Understanding the basic concepts of mathematics is an important foundation for students of the Mathematics Education Study Program to be able to become competent educators in the future. However, there are still many students who have difficulty mastering these concepts. This study aims to determine the level of understanding of basic mathematical concepts of fifth-semester students and identify the factors that affect them. The research used a descriptive survey method with an instrument in the form of a questionnaire distributed to 12 students. The data collected was analyzed descriptively to illustrate the level of understanding of basic concepts and their relevance to daily life. The survey results show that most students have a fairly good understanding of basic mathematical concepts, but there are still challenges in terms of applying concepts, learning independence, and confidence in facing difficult material. The conclusion of this study is that a more contextual learning approach is needed, the provision of additional support such as tutorials or remedial learning, and a conducive learning environment to improve students' overall understanding.

Abstract

Training and assistance in writing scientific journal articles for students of Al Azhar Medan Superior High School is carried out as an effort to improve students' academic literacy. This activity is based on the low ability of students to write scientific papers systematically, even though they have high academic potential. The method of implementing activities was carried out through face-to-face training for three days and online/offline assistance for two weeks. The activity was attended by 25 students of grade XI, and was evaluated using pre-test, post-test, observation, and assessment of writing results. The results of the activity showed an increase in the average score from 58.2 to 82.4, the number of students who were able to compile complete articles increased from 4 to 20 people, and eight articles were declared worthy of publication. In addition, 92% of students stated that this activity was very beneficial. This activity shows that participatory training approaches and systematic mentoring are effective in improving students' scientific literacy. The program also contributes to the formation of an academic culture and sustainable scientific writing skills at the high school level.

Abstract

The research was aimed at examining the extent to which the Realistic Mathematics Learning (RME) model rooted in local Batak cultural knowledge was able to improve students' understanding of mathematical concepts. A total of twenty eighth-grade students from Istiqlal Deli Tua Private Junior High School participated in this research which used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design of one group pretest-posttest. The research instrument was a geometry concept test in the context of Batak culture. Data were analyzed using the Paired Sample T-Test, N-Gain analysis, and homogeneity and normality tests. The results showed a significant increase in students' understanding of mathematical concepts, with an average score of 57.25 in the pretest to 86 in the posttest. The Paired Sample T-Test showed a statistically significant difference between before and after the application of the learning model with a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05). The average N-Gain score of 0.6940 placed the majority of students (60%) in the moderate improvement category, while the other 40% experienced a high increase. Thus, the Batak culture-based realistic mathematics learning approach has proven effective in deepening students' understanding of mathematical concepts. Research recommends utilizing local cultural knowledge as a learning resource to provide more relevant and meaningful mathematics learning for students.
