Abstract

Character education in elementary school is an important aspect in forming morale and students' ethics at their stage of development. This study aims to explore the understanding and experiences of pre-service professional teachers in integrating character education with social studies instruction in elementary schools. Employing a mixed-method approach, data were collected through structured questionnaires and in-depth interviews with 124 student teachers enrolled in the teacher education program. The findings indicate that pre-service teachers possess a solid understanding of character education concepts and the importance of their integration into social studies instruction. The researcher implements various strategies such as thematic approaches, project-based learning, and group discussions to instill moral values. However, challenges include time constraints, lack of resources, and insufficient specialized training. The necessary support includes continuous training, access to adequate resources, and mentoring from experienced educators. The study concludes that although pre-service teachers have a strong theoretical understanding, a holistic approach involving training support, resources, and policies is required to enhance the effectiveness of character education integration in social studies instruction. Recommendations for future research include expanding the sample size and employing longitudinal methods for more in-depth and sustained observations.

Abstract

The problems faced by students are difficulties in understanding the questions and not having sufficient ability to work on new questions given by the teacher. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by the phET application on electricity learning materials. This type of research is quasi-experimental. The research population totaled 192 students. The total number of samples is 35 students. The method for obtaining data is the description test method. The instrument used is a description test. The data analysis technique is descriptive qualitative, quantitative and inferential statistical analysis. The results of the study are the results of the t-test which obtain t-count = 52.07 greater than t-table = 2.034, so that there is a significant difference in critical thinking ability between students who use the conventional model and students who are taught using the Problem-based Learning model assisted by the application of PhET material for class VI elementary school electricity. It was concluded that Problem-based Learning assisted by the PhET application could improve the critical thinking ability of fourth grade elementary school students in electricity material. The implication of this research is that Problem-based Learning can be used to improve critical thinking ability.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran e-scrapbook bermuatan soal-soal berbasis HOTS pada muatan pelajaran IPA untuk kelas IV sekolah dasar yang valid dan praktis. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan (research and development) dengan mengadaptasi model pengembangan ADDIE. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan instrumen berupa kuesioner dan tes hasil belajar. Data validitas media bersumber dari 2 orang ahli media pembelajaran, 2 orang ahli asesmen pembelajaran, dan 2 orang ahli konten pembelajaran IPA SD. Data kepraktisan media bersumber dari 2 orang praktisi pembelajaran di sekolah dasar, 3 siswa untuk uji coba perorangan, dan 6 siswa untuk uji coba kelompok kecil. Proses analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil pengembangan menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran e-scrapbook bermuatan soal-soal berbasis HOTS pada muatan pelajaran IPA untuk kelas IV sekolah dasar dinyatakan (1) valid dengan: (a) hasil penilaian ahli media pembelajaran dengan kualifikasi sangat baik (94,44%); (b) hasil penilaian ahli konten pembelajaran IPA SD dengan kualifikasi sangat baik (92,94%); dan (c) hasil penilaian ahli asesmen pembelajaran dengan kualifikasi sangat baik (97,14%). (2) praktis dengan: (a) hasil uji respon praktisi dengan kualifikasi sangat baik (97,33%); (b) hasil uji coba perorangan dengan kualifikasi sangat baik (99,18%); dan (c) hasil uji coba kelompok kecil dengan kualifikasi sangat praktis (98,32%). Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa media pembelajaran e-scrapbook bermuatan soal-soal berbasis HOTS pada muatan pelajaran IPA untuk kelas IV sekolah dasar yang dikembangkan valid dan praktis diterapkan dalam pembelajaran dapat meningkatkan minat belajar dan pemahaman konsep siswa.

Abstract

The adaptation of new habits after the COVID-19 pandemic has an impact on the lack of availability of learning media that can be used to support the learning process. The role of learning media is very important in the learning process, one of which is to facilitate students in practicing higher-order thinking skills as one of the 21st century skills that must be possessed by students. This study aims to analyze the needs and explore the role of teachers in the process of developing digital learning media containing HOTS-based questions in elementary schools. This research is a descriptive research by conducting a needs analysis. The data was collected using observation and interview methods with instruments in the form of observation sheets and interview sheets. Data analysis was carried out qualitatively. The results show that digital-based learning media containing HOTS questions used in post-covid-19 learning are still limited and not varied. In addition, teachers also have not played a major role in developing digital-based learning media containing HOTS questions. This indicates that the development of digital-based learning media containing HOTS questions needs to be developed as an effort to improve the quality of learning after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Mahasiswa calon guru membawa gagasan dan preferensi mereka ke dalam ruang kelas, yang dapat memengaruhi bagaimana bahasa diajarkan dan dipahami oleh generasi siswa mendatang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis secara komprehensif mengenai preferensi mahasiswa calon guru sekolah dasar terhadap pendekatan pembelajaran bahasa. Desain penelitian mix-methods yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah concurren embedded mixed methods. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa program studi Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar. Pemilihan sampel ditentukan dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Adapun jumlah sampel yang menjadi responden dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 112 mahasiswa. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode non-tes dengan instrumen berbentuk kuesioner. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode statistik deskriptif seperti analisis frekuensi dan persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat variasi pandangan terhadap efektivitas pendekatan pembelajaran bahasa. Sementara sebagian besar mahasiswa calon guru melihat pendekatan tematik terpadu dan whole language sebagai yang paling efektif. Hal ini didasarkan pada potensi pendekatan tematik terpadu dan whole language dalam mencapai tujuan pembelajaran yang berkaitan dengan pengembangan keterampilan berbahasa secara komprehensif. Selain itu, Sebagian besar responden menyatakan kesiapan mereka dalam merancang dan mengimplementasikan metode pembelajaran bahasa berdasarkan pendekatan pilihan mereka. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi berharga terhadap pemahaman tentang perspektif mahasiswa calon guru serta memberikan gambaran untuk penelitian lanjutan terkait dengan pengembangan pendidikan guru yang lebih efektif.

Abstract

Literasi merupakan paradigma baru dalam dunia pendidikan khususnya dalam pembelajaran literasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis persepsi kemampuan Literasi siswa sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa sekolah dasar. Penentuan jumlah sampel dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan rumus slovin dengan batas toleransi kesalahan sebesar 3%. Hal ini dikarenakan jumlah populasi penelitian cukup banyak dan beragam. Selanjutnya, penarikan sampel dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling. Metode pengumpulan data yang dilakukan adalah angket. Angket yang digunakan terdiri atas 30 pernyataan yang sudah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Analisis data dalam penelitian dilakukan secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian dianalisis berdasarkan dimensi setiap kuisioner. Pada kuisioner siswa terkait dengan persepsi kepemilikan Literasi memberikan hasil berupa kondisi terkini pembelajaran berbasis Literasi. Hasil penelitian ini memberikan gambaran secara deskriptif mengenai kondisi kemampuan Literasi siswa sekolah dasar. Kemampuan Literasi siswa masih belum merata, baik dilihat dari jenis kemampuan literasinya maupun lokasi sekolah siswa (perkotaan, pinggiran kota, dan pedesaan). Selain itu, hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan adanya kesenjangan yang cukup besar terhadap kemampuan literasi siswa di perkotaan dibandingkan di pinggiran kota dan pedesaan. Gambaran mengenai kondisi tersebut dapat dijadikan acuan dan landasan dalam menentukan upaya yang tepat untuk mengembangkan kemampuan Literasi siswa sekolah dasar.

Abstract

Mathematics education for students with disabilities often faces various challenges, such as difficulties in understanding abstract concepts and limitations in using adaptive media. This study aims to investigate the utilization of math manipulatives as assistive technology to support more inclusive and interactive mathematics learning. Employing a qualitative approach with an exploratory design, data were collected through focus group discussions (FGDs) and in-depth interviews involving teachers and students as primary respondents. Thematic analysis was used to identify patterns in the application of math manipulatives during the learning process. The findings reveal that math manipulatives, such as number boards, numeric cards, and other visual tools, significantly enhance students' comprehension of mathematical concepts concretely. Furthermore, the use of math manipulatives fosters students' learning motivation and active participation, particularly in group work. Additionally, these tools assist teachers in designing lessons that are more adaptive to students’ needs. The study concludes that math manipulatives as assistive technology holds substantial potential to support mathematics education for students with disabilities, addressing both cognitive and affective aspects. The latest information in this research provides an important contribution to the development of science in the field of inclusive education and educational technology.

Abstract

The low ability of Indonesian students is related to the science learning process which has not fully provided opportunities for students to develop critical reasoning skills. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the E-Scrapbook media containing HOTS questions on the learning outcomes of fourth grade elementary school students. This research is an experimental research using a quantitative approach. The research design used in this study was a one group pre-test post-test design. The subjects of this study amounted to 30 elementary school fourth grade students. The effectiveness of using E-Scrapbook media with HOTS questions can be measured using the test method. The data analysis method used in this research is descriptive and inferential analysis. The analytical technique used to test the hypothesis is Paired Sample T-Test. Hypothesis testing using the help of the IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows version 21.0 program. There is a significant difference in the learning outcomes of students' science before and after participating in learning using the E-Scrapbook media containing HOTS-Based Questions. Thus, the application of E-Scrapbook media containing HOTS-based questions in the learning process effectively has an influence in improving student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Indonesia, which has significant human resources, needs better human resources. The efforts made by the government through the Independent Curriculum program, in fact, still need to be in line with expectations. Many students' potential has yet to be maximized, so innovation is needed to improve the quality of students through competitions and maximizing potential. This research aims to maximize students' potential and improve the quality of human resources in Indonesia. This type of research is qualitative, using quantitative research methods and t-test analysis. The research subjects were 60 students. The methods used to collect data are interviews, observations, and tests. The instrument used to collect data is test questions. Inference analysis was carried out using a Paired Sample T-Test. The Paired Sample T-Test results show a significant difference between the average achievement of students in the experimental group that uses the EXCELLA system and the control group that follows regular learning. The findings of this research have proven to have a positive impact on increasing student achievement and potential. This research implies that EXCELLA has excellent potential to become a practical learning innovation in improving the quality of Indonesian human resources. With continued support from the government and other stakeholders, EXCELLA can significantly create a superior and competitive future generation.

Abstract

Penerapan model masih belum menunjukkan pembelajaran yang mengakomodasi dan mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis pelatihan implementasi phenomenon based learning bagi guru-guru sekolah dasar. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode ceramah, diskusi, tanya jawab, presentasi, dan penugasan. Secara umum kegiatan ini dibagi menjadi Pelatihan Umum, Pelatihan Intensif I, dan Pelatihan Intensif II. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan keterampilan guru dalam merancang pembelajaran yang relevan, berorientasi pada fenomena, dan berpusat pada siswa merupakan hasil positif dari pelatihan PhBL. Keterampilan ini membantu menciptakan pengalaman pembelajaran yang lebih bermakna dan efektif bagi siswa, yang pada akhirmya akan berdampak pada peningkatan kualitas pendidikan. Respon kepuasan peserta yang positif ini mencerminkan bahwa pelatihan PhBL telah memenuhi harapan mereka dan memberikan pengalaman belajar yang berharga. Pendekatan fleksibel dan berkelanjutan dalam pelaksanaan pelatihan dapat membantu guru mengintegrasikan Phenomenon Based Learning ke dalam kurikulum mereka tanpa menambah beban kerja secara signifikan Hal ini juga menunjukkan potensi untuk meningkatkan praktik pengajaran dengan mengadopsi PhBL sebagai bagian dari pendekatan pembelajaran.
