Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a digital-based learning shift, creating a significant learning gap in the Merdeka Curriculum era as face-to-face education resumes. SMP Wahid Hasyim Malang, like many others, faces challenges such as limited teacher-student interaction, reliance on traditional lectures, outdated resources, and underutilized internet facilities. To address this, we propose an Internet of Educational Things (IoET) empowerment program. Its goal is to establish a digital-based learning environment post-pandemic using hypercontent-based modules and Learning Management Systems (LMS) with IoET applications. Instructors will provide foundational training, and facilitators will offer ongoing mentoring. This program equips teachers with theoretical knowledge and practical skills, enhancing their ability to implement IoET-based learning models and media, improving their overall performance. Additionally, it will serve as a valuable reference for future educational services and research, becoming an alternative point of reference for various future educational endeavors and research initiatives.

Abstract

This study develops a theoretical framework for learning analytics utilizing data from the Moodle Learning Management System (LMS). Despite Moodle's extensive use in educational settings, its potential for learning analytics remains underutilized. This research aims to design a predictive framework for identifying learning difficulties through Moodle's internal analytics, incorporating various data points such as activity completion, attendance logs, social interactions, and learner habits. The study employs a research and development methodology with three main stages: (1) needs analysis and learning component identification, (2) theoretical framework design, and (3) validation through focused group discussions with learning experts. The framework integrates predictive modeling for learning retention, task load analysis, and personalized learning style assessments based on the VARK model. Results demonstrate that the framework effectively uses Moodle's default logs for analyzing learner behavior, although it is limited to online interactions within the LMS. Validation confirms its alignment with Moodle's architecture and online learning theories, with minor adjustments for task load components. The framework offers a scalable solution for institutions managing large student populations and varied learning models, serving as a foundation for early intervention and improved learning outcomes. Future studies could expand the framework's scope to include offline and face-to-face interactions.

Abstract

The problem faced in online learning is the low student engagement, which can affect their learning outcomes. Gamification, as an innovative approach, is expected to improve student motivation and participation in the online learning environment. This study aims to review the effects of gamification on student engagement, focusing on intrinsic and extrinsic motivation during online learning. The method used is a systematic review of articles relevant to this topic. The article review process involves examining studies that identify various elements of gamification, such as incentives, competition, collaboration, and formative assessment, and their impact on student engagement and motivation. The expected result of this research is to provide insights into how gamification can enhance student engagement, as well as to identify the most effective gamification elements in the context of online learning. Additionally, this study aims to offer practical recommendations for educators on how to implement gamification to improve learning effectiveness.

Abstract

Abstract

This research was conducted to analyze exactly how teachers and prospective elementary school teachers perceive the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the learning process. This research aims to be a means of recommending the implementation of optimal use of AI at the primary education level. This study uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive research design through a survey method. Data were taken from 46 respondents of teachers and prospective elementary school teachers in the city of Malang who were selected using voluntary sampling techniques. Descriptive statistical analysis shows that, in general, respondents gave predominantly positive responses to AI integration, with average perception scores ranging from 19.17 to 21.46, indicating a tendency to agree. Key findings reveal a perception paradox: on the one hand, 73.9% of teachers believe AI can improve teaching effectiveness through personalisation and administrative efficiency; on the other hand, there is significant concern (69.6% agree) that AI has the potential to reduce essential social interaction between teachers and students. In addition, the main obstacles identified are the lack of teacher literacy and limited technological infrastructure in schools. Therefore, this study recommends the need for structured professional training and improved digital infrastructure as prerequisites for balancing the functional benefits of AI with the maintenance of the humanistic pedagogical role of teachers in primary schools.
