Abstract

Abstract The development of science, technology and art requires human resources to be able to compete globally in the 21st century. The effects of the Covid-19 pandemic require digitalization of education so that learning activities continue without limitations in space and time. Colloidal systems are part of chemistry, examples of which are often found in everyday life. The complexity of the material in the colloid system in the form of memorization, usually carried out by teachers using lecture and discussion methods, makes teachers innovate how to make learning activities in the classroom fun and memorable so that the learning material is understood in accordance with the demands of the basic competencies that students must master, both aspects cognitive and psychomotor, namely KD 3.14 and KD 4.14. One way to make chemistry learning activities in class meaningful is to do practicums and play. In this research, the author conducted qualitative research with a descriptive approach through colloidal domino game (KaDoKo) using an inquiry method carried out in groups, then each student wrote down questions along with explanations of the answers in a notebook. For the skills domain, students carry out cooking practice (cooking class), namely making colloid products or food preparations made from colloids, then presenting the manufacturing process, the type of colloid produced and the final result in video as a form of digitalization of education carried out by students. The teacher ensures that the type of colloid made by each group is different to ensure product variations. The final result obtained is that students enjoy learning activities and gain a different learning experience compared to previous learning and have directed communication skills based on the products they have made related to the concept of colloid systems and there is an increase in mastery of colloid concepts compared to the previous year.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' misconceptions about acid-base equilibrium and salt hydrolysis using instruments from [1]. This research is descriptive-quantitative, and the subjects of this study were students of classes XI and XII MIPA at one of the State Madrasah Aliyah in west Jakarta in the 2022/2023 school year. Data was collected using the two-tier multiple-choice web-based misconception diagnostic test. Based on the results of the study, it was found that in class XI, there were 80% of students who did not understand and 15% of students had the wrong concept on acid-base material, while in class XII, 72% did not understand and 24% of students had the wrong concept on acid-base material. The answers with the most misconceptions were found in acid-base question number 4, where 76% of students cannot choose which, ionic group can be together with a solution that is at room temperature under conditions of H+ ion concentration in a solution ionized by water of 1 x 10–13 mol/L and the reason for the proper explanation. Students tend to only understand what acid-base or hydrolysis salts are without strengthening their deeper concepts.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has changed various community activities including in the world of education, where students and teachers are required to be able to adapt in life and be able to master essential material in every subject. Electrochemistry is a branch of chemistry that studies the relationship between chemical reactions and electrical energy, namely the transfer of electrons that occur. The material about electroplating is part of electrochemistry, namely about electrolytic cells, where students must know the reactions that occur at the negative electrode (cathode) and positive electrode (anode) as well as the solution used for gilding and the object to be plated. The complexity of the material in electrochemistry makes the teacher think hard how to make learning activities in class fun and memorable so that the learning material is remembered by students. One way to make learning activities in class come alive is to do practicum. In this study the authors carried out a different practicum from the previous year, namely gilding(electroplating)the metalbrought by the students and presenting the results in video form. The research subjects were 36 students of class XII IPA1 at MAN 10 Jakarta. Before practicum activities, the teacher gives Student Activity Sheets (SAS) so that students understand the steps of practicum activities to be carried out. In the implementation of practicum activities, it begins with the Pretest, practicum electroplating and making Chemistry wallmagazines and ends with the Posttest. At the end of the assignment, students make a video presentation of the results of the metal plating they have done by showing chemistry wall magazines andpractical explanations alsoanswers thequestions from the SAS. The final result obtained is that students enjoy learning activities and get increased results from pre to pot test from the average score 65 becomes 93,06, and have directed communication skills in video presentation based on the wall magazines they have made related to the concept of electrolytic cells.
