Abstract

This journal explores the role of the Church Unity Body in strengthening the unity of Christian faith. The Church, as the body of Christ composed of various members from diverse backgrounds and traditions, is called to unite in one faith, one teaching, and one way of life aligned with the teachings of Christ. This unity is crucial for maintaining harmony within the community of believers and for addressing social and theological challenges in the modern world.The role of the Church Unity Body is evident through Bible teaching based on enduring truth, participation in sacraments such as Holy Communion and Baptism, as well as collaboration among churches in social service and mission. In this context, the church functions not only as a place of worship but also as a community that supports spiritual growth and the well-being of its members. The unity of Christian faith requires mutual respect, forgiveness, and humility among church members. By strengthening this unity, the church can provide a clearer testimony to the world, demonstrating that in Christ, differences can be reconciled in love that transcends all. This article also highlights the importance of the church’s role in building a unity of faith that goes beyond denominational boundaries, within the framework of ecumenism, to realize the wholeness of the body of Christ and bring about transformation in the world.

Abstract

The World Council of Churches (DGD) has played an important role in facilitating unity among its member churches since its founding in 1948. Through the ecumenical movement, the DGD encouraged churches to participate in social and spiritual issues, especially post-World War II. The organization strengthens solidarity between denominations, helps churches face modern challenges, and advocates for social justice and peace. With its broad membership, the DGD is a forum for churches to unite in a common mission for the glory of God.

Abstract

In the Christian context, ecumenism refers to a movement that unites various denominations separated by doctrine and tradition. The qikumene movement is the cornerstone of Christian unity across denominations with the aim of creating unity in diversity. This study investigates, through a qualitive approach, the role of oikumene in strengthening inter-reilious relationsships important for maintaining the harmony of society’s diversity. The reason for this writing is the importance of understanding the role of oikumene in creating religious harmony the word oikumene comes from the greek word meaning “one house” it aims to unite diverse Christians churches based on doctrine and tradition. The conclusions of this document emphasizes that ecumenism can be a reason to create harmonious unity within the church and at the same time a reason to create peace between Christians and communities. The result show the importence of this movement in strengthening inter-chriatian realations and contributing to social harmony.

Abstract

Gerakan oikumenis merupakan upaya strategis untuk menciptakan kesatuan di tengah keberagaman budaya, tradisi, dan denominasi dalam gereja multikultural. Dengan menekankan dialog, kolaborasi, serta penghargaan terhadap perbedaan, gerakan ini bertujuan menjembatani perbedaan teologis dan budaya antar denominasi. Melalui prinsip kasih dan persatuan dalam Kristus, oikumenisme tidak hanya memperkuat hubungan antarjemaat, tetapi juga mempromosikan kerukunan dalam masyarakat luas. Dalam konteks Indonesia yang sangat multikultural, pendekatan ini menjadi relevan untuk membangun keharmonisan sosial dan memperkuat kesaksian gereja sebagai agen pemersatu. Nilai-nilai seperti cinta kasih, pengampunan, dan pelayanan bersama menjadi landasan utama dalam mewujudkan visi gereja yang inklusif dan harmonis.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the effect of the contextual learning model on the PAK learning outcomes of class VIII students at SMP N 1 Siempat Nempu Hulu, Dairi Regency, Academic Year 2023/2024. The method used in this research is a quantitative method with inferential statistical data analysis, by looking at the results of the pre-test and post-test learning. The population is all class VIII students of SMP N 1 Siempat Nempu Hulu for the 2023/2024 academic year, totaling 165 people and a sample of 30 people was determined using the purposive sampling technique. Data collected for variable Y were 15 pre-test and post-test questions, with an overall average score of 88.5>75. The results of data analysis show that there is a positive and significant influence between the contextual learning model on the PAK learning outcomes of class VIII students at SMP N 1 Siempat Nempu Hulu, Dairi Regency, Academic Year 2023/2024.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to understand the role of Panti Jompo Anugrah Pematang Siantar in achieving the happiness of the elderly. Nursing homes are very important to provide a safe environment and adequate care to improve the quality of life of the elderly, because they often face various social and emotional challenges. The interactions, conversations, and narratives among the elderly, workers, and the head of the foundation were analyzed in this study through discourse studies. This study was conducted with a qualitative approach and used participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. This study involved the elderly living in Panti Jompo Anugrah Pematang Siantar, nursing home employees, and the head of the foundation. This study is expected to provide a better understanding of the role of nursing homes in fulfilling the happiness of the elderly. The results are also expected to help related parties, including the government, elderly care institutions, and the general public, develop more efficient ways to improve the quality of life of the elderly living in nursing homes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between youth worship systems and faith growth in GKO Pematang Tembesu and to explain how youth worship systems can increase youth faith in GKO. This study is based on the youth worship system carried out by the church, it can be seen that faith is not growing well in adolescents, as seen from poor behavior and lack of responsiveness in following every worship service carried out by GKO. Of course, this is something that really needs to be considered in order to create a strong and God-fearing youth faith. In this study, the researcher used a descriptive inferential method with a quantitative approach, the data obtained through observation, interviews, questionnaires (questionnaires) and documentation. Data is obtained and data processing is carried out in order to obtain the desired results. The population of this study was all GKO adolescents totaling 30 people. This study was carried out by the author at the Oikumene Christian Church, Pematang Tembesu, Jambi and was carried out from November 2023 to January 2024.The results of the questionnaire from the respondents were processed and compiled and tabulated in a table according to the items submitted. To find out the Pearson Product Moment, the rxy value is obtained = 0.666. And with r table 0.308308, it can be said that there is a positive and significant relationship between worship order and faith growth in GKO Pematang Tembesu. With a significant p = 0.000 <0.050, the hypothesis of the study is that there is a positive relationship between worship order and faith growth. This means that based on the research, the hypothesis in this study is accepted. The determinant coefficient (r2) of the relationship between variable x and variable y is r2 = 0.443, this shows that worship order is related to faith growth by 44.3%.

Abstract

The ecumenical movement seeks to unite churches divided in denomination, doctrine, and practice, while fighting for peace and social justice. This article reviews the history, theological foundations, and application of ecumenism in the church's mission. This movement was born from the need for Christian unity, realized in Indonesia through the formation of the Fellowship of Churches in Indonesia (PGI) to strengthen cross-denominational fellowship. Its theological foundation is poured into Jesus' prayer for unity and the Great Commission. In addition to unity, ecumenism supports social justice as a manifestation of Christ's love. The main challenges include doctrinal differences, leader-congregation disputes, cultural differences, and political pressure. Inclusive ecumenical education and congregational participation are the keys to realizing church unity in facing pluralism and social challenges.

Abstract

This article is titled "The Role of Theology Students as Agents of Change in Realizing Church Unity in the Modern Era." Church unity is a fundamental principle in Christianity that emphasizes the importance of collaboration among denominations. In today's increasingly pluralistic society, divisions and conflicting theological perspectives pose significant challenges to constructive dialogue and cooperation among churches. Therefore, theology students have a significant role in advocating for unity through the Ecumenical movement. Using qualitative research methods that focus on library data collection, this article explores how theology students can contribute to fostering dialogue, initiating social service projects, and utilizing social media to promote messages of unity. Their active involvement in these efforts is expected to bridge gaps, reduce stereotypes, and enhance collaboration among churches. Through these initiatives, theology students not only gain a deeper understanding of church unity but also become transformative agents who embody the values ​​of love and cooperation. As a result, the church can emerge as a more united witness in the world, reflecting the inclusive love of Christ.

Abstract

The ecumenical movement in Indonesia was born as a response to the biblical call to realize the unity of Christians, especially in the context of cultural, ethnic and religious diversity. As a country with high plurality, Indonesia is a fertile and challenging field for this movement. Oikumene, derived from the Greek word oikoumene, means “inhabited world”. In this context, the ecumenical movement aims to unite churches to witness the Gospel together in a complex and diverse world. However, the implementation of this movement is not free from various dynamics and challenges, especially in interfaith relations. One of the main challenges is the differences in theology, tradition and liturgy between churches, which become internal obstacles to realizing complete unity. Churches in Indonesia often face difficulties in reaching agreement on common issues, such as evangelism, social services, and approaches to interfaith dialog. On the other hand, external challenges arise from the dynamics of interfaith relations in Indonesia, which are often characterized by tensions, stereotypes, and even conflicts. Government policies related to religion, such as the regulation of houses of worship, also often put churches in a difficult position, thus affecting their efforts to unite.Nevertheless, the ecumenical movement in Indonesia still plays a significant role in promoting interfaith dialogue. By emphasizing the importance of cooperation on social issues, such as justice, peace and poverty alleviation, the movement is able to serve as a bridge between Christian communities and other religions. The role of organizations such as the Persekutuan Gereja-Gereja di Indonesia (PGI) is very important in realizing constructive dialogue. Through this approach, ecumenism is not only an internal effort of the church to unite, but also a contribution of Christians to interfaith harmony in Indonesia.keywords: The Oikumene Movement in Indonesia and interfaith challenges
