Abstract

This study explores the moral values embedded in the song “Please and Thank You,” commonly used in early childhood education. Recognizing that early childhood education plays a significant role shaping children’s character and moral development, this study investigates the effectiveness of simple songs in conveying moral messages. The song “Please and Thank You” emphasizes the importance of politeness, manners, and social respect, using the magic words "please" and "thank you" as central elements of moral instruction. Using a qualitative descriptive approach based on content analysis, this study analyses the song’s lyrics through the lens of Kohlberg’s moral development theory, particularly focusing on the preconventional stage of moral reasoning in children. Since, it comes to songs designed for children, especially those in the preconventional stage, the lyrics often reinforce basic moral lessons such as distinguishing between good and bad behaviors, and the consequences of those behaviors. Findings suggest that the song not only enhances cognitive skills but also plays a crucial role in instilling values such as respect, kindness, and consideration for others. The results highlight the significant potential of songs as a medium for moral education, contributing to the development of positive moral. This study underscores the importance of incorporating moral value driven content in early childhood song education to foster a supportive environment for moral and social growth for children in their early age.

Abstract

Film is one of the literary works which also as mass media that contains moral value for people indirectly affect to people’s thought and behavior. Fil is also one of an effective communication media to convey message through dialog and scene. Therefore, writer made a film as a research subject. This research is discussed about Keluarga Cemara Film especially education of children character in this film. Family trough parents ‘role able to help build a good character of children. In development era, people demanded not only smart in intellectual but also has good character. Character is one thing that attached to person and made it as typical of personality as a driver and activator to distinguish one individual. This research aimed to analyze and recognize the education character of children in family. The research method applied in this research was qualitative descriptive. This research used technique sampling data to see and note dialog and scene in this film which describe or contain education character of children

Abstract

The study participants were 46 first-semester students of the Early Childhood Islamic Education (PIAUD), Islamic Elementary School Education (PGMI), and Islamic Religious Education (PAI) study programs at STIT INSIDA Jakarta who were taking general English courses in the first semester of 2024. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews following interviews with native English speakers. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis based on the Oxford classification of language learning strategies, including memory, cognitive, compensatory, metacognitive, affective, and social strategies. The results showed that students faced several major obstacles, namely limited vocabulary, pronunciation difficulties, and low confidence when speaking. To overcome these obstacles, students most often used compensatory strategies, such as paraphrasing, using simple sentences, and body movements. In addition, cognitive and metacognitive strategies were also widely used in the form of question practice, answer planning, monitoring, and evaluating speaking performance. Affective strategies helped students manage anxiety, while social strategies supported learning through interactions with peers and native speakers. These findings suggest that interview sessions with native speakers encourage the use of a variety of language learning strategies that contribute to the improvement of vocabulary and speaking confidence of non- English Department students. Abstract

Sosialisasi perguruan tinggi pada Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) memiliki tantangan tersendiri karena orientasi pendidikan vokasional siswa yang lebih kuat pada dunia kerja dibandingkan studi lanjut. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penerapan model komunikasi dalam kegiatan sosialisasi perguruan tinggi kepada siswa SMK serta menilai efektivitasnya dalam meningkatkan pemahaman dan minat melanjutkan pendidikan. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan edukatif-partisipatif melalui kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilaksanakan di SMK 8 PGRI Jakarta dengan sasaran siswa kelas XII. Proses komunikasi dilakukan secara dua arah melalui ceramah dan diskusi interaktif. Analisis hasil kegiatan menggunakan model komunikasi Harold Lasswell, model komunikasi persuasif, serta fungsi model komunikasi menurut Wiseman & Barker dan Deutsch. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa seluruh unsur komunikasi dalam model Lasswell terimplementasi secara sistematis, ditandai dengan meningkatnya pemahaman siswa mengenai dunia perguruan tinggi, perubahan sikap, serta tumbuhnya motivasi dan niat untuk melanjutkan studi, termasuk pilihan kuliah sambil bekerja. Pendekatan persuasif dan partisipatif terbukti mampu mendorong perubahan pada aspek kognitif, afektif, dan konatif siswa. Artikel ini menegaskan bahwa penerapan model komunikasi yang terstruktur, adaptif, dan dialogis sangat efektif dalam sosialisasi perguruan tinggi di lingkungan SMK serta berkontribusi dalam membangun kesiapan siswa merencanakan pendidikan lanjut secara sadar dan berorientasi masa depan.
