Abstract

This community service aims to introduce and provide broader knowledge about the culture and traditions originating from Indonesia. This is intended to develop children's knowledge from various countries about Indonesia. The location of target children are students who attend the Kids Club at Parklife (PT. Taman Jiwa) Bali which is located on Jalan Raya Uma Buluh No. 15, Canggu, North Kuta District, Badung Regency, Bali. Kids Club, which is a school and daycare, is an option for parents who come to Bali in a short time. Abstract

The study entitled “An Analysis of Visual and Verbal Signs Meaning Found in Azarine Sunscreen Advertisement” aims to analyze and identify the verbal and visual signs as well as their meanings. Used social media advertisement plays an important role in promoting and encouraging their product to the audience. In this research, the data was taken from Azarine Instagram advertisements @azarinecosmeticofficial. The data was collected by observation method and analyzed in descriptive qualitative method. This research used the theory from Saussure (2011) to analyze the verbal and visual signs and the theory from Bathes (1977) to interpret their meanings. The findings identified 7 verbal signs and 13 visual signs that convey denotative and connotative meanings. As the results of this research, the verbal signs in this advertisement appeared in text and always showed their brand name “Azarine” which enhanced the product’s visibility and credibility, making it more recognizable to the audience. The visual signs appeared in pictures, elements, repetition of several logos which reinforce the brand dedication and commitment to meet audience needs, and backgrounds with the identic colors of blue and orange which are eye-catching and could attract the attention of the audience when they see Azarine Sunscreen advertisement.

Abstract

Abstract This study, entitled "Analysis of Verbal and Visual Signs in Converse Shoe Advertisements," aims to identify and analyze the verbal and visual signs in Converse advertisements. The data was sourced from three printed Converse shoes advertisement found on Pinterest. The analysis is based on Saussure's (1983) and Barthes's (1976) semiotic theories, alongside Cerrato's (2012) theory on color analysis. The study employs a qualitative method, focusing on both image and text analysis. The analysis reveals three main findings: first, each advertisement contains verbal signs that can be analyzed for both denotative and connotative meanings; second, advertisements without verbal signs still convey important messages through visual signs, with images carrying different meanings in line with the context; third, color plays a significant role in reinforcing the messages conveyed through the visuals. The findings highlight that both verbal and visual elements work together to communicate the advertisement’s message effectively. Keywords: verbal, visual, sign, advertisement, Converse

Abstract

In the era of globalization, English language proficiency has become an essential skill, especially for village officials and village office staff who frequently interact with outsiders, including foreign tourists. Pererenan Village, located on the main tourism route in Bali, faces challenges in improving the international communication capacity of its village officials. To overcome this obstacle, an English language training program was conducted as part of the community service activities. The program included theoretical learning, group discussions, and hands-on practice in real situations, aiming to improve basic communication competencies in English. The results of this activity showed a significant improvement in the participants' English language skills, which improved the quality of public services in the village and increased the competitiveness of Pererenan Village as a tourist destination. This community service not only contributes to the development of human resources but also strengthens the relationship between the university and the local community and makes a tangible contribution to facing the challenges of globalization and advancing Pererenan Village on the international stage.
