Abstract

Bengkulu Province is one of the developing provinces in Indonesia. The distribution of development and economic growth is still one of the main objectives of development in Indonesia, as well as Bengkulu Province. Development and growth are still centralised in Bengkulu City, causing inequality between regions in Bengkulu Province. This research aims to identify the typology of regions in Bengkulu Province, as an evaluation material for the government in determining priority development areas based on business fields in Bengkulu Province. The research method used is quantitative with sharpened through descriptive analysis. This research uses secondary data sources obtained from BPS Bengkulu Province. Based on the existing business sectors in Bengkulu Province, the primary sector or sectors that still depend on or take advantage of natural conditions, such as; agriculture, forestry and fisheries have the largest contribution to the Bengkulu Province GRDP, which is 27.57%, then the next sector is the Wholesale and Retail Trade sector; Car and Motorcycle Repair, with an average contribution of 15.82%, and the Government Administration sector with a contribution of 8.88%. Data were analysed using Klassen's typology, by dividing or grouping into 4 (four) quadrants based on business field indicators. The results of the Klassen typology analysis in Bengkulu Province based on business fields show that there is close to equity in each sector, typology in quadrants 1, 3, and 4 consists of 5 business fields, while the typology results in quadrant 2, only consists of 2 business fields (Manufacturing, Public Administration & Defence; Compulsory Social Security). Keywords: Regional Typology; Klassen Typology; Economy; Development.

Abstract

The social and economic sectors are need to be considered in assessing the level of development of a region. Bengkulu Province located on the west coast of the island of Sumatra has a contribution to Indonesia's GDP of 0.47%, which is a relatively small contribution of less than 1%. This aim of research is knowing the level of regional development in Bengkulu Province, by examining the social and economic sectors. The method is descriptive quantitative, quantitative analysis is used to analyze the level of regional development; then descriptive analysis is used to explain the phenomena that occur related to the level of regional development in Bengkulu Province. The level of regional development from the social sector, shows that most of them are in high qualifications (developed regions), this concludes that development related to the social sector is quite evenly distributed, only Lebong regency has a low classification level (underdeveloped) in contrast to the economic sector. That occurs in Bengkulu Province is mostly at the low classification level (underdeveloped regions), only Bengkulu City which is at high level, and North Bengkul Regancy with a medium level (developed). The Bengkulu Provincial Government needs to pay attention of areas with low classification (underdeveloped), especially in Lebong Regency with low classification (underdeveloped) in the social and economic sectors.

Abstract

The objectives of the research were (1) to analyze the value of the biocapacity and ecological footprint in Sleman Regency; (2) to measure and analyze the value and spatial distribution of bioecological carrying capacity in global hectare units (global hectare); and (3) formulating the direction of development and control of development based on the class of bioecological carrying capacity. The research was conducted using a quantitative approach through processing and analyzing secondary data from various sources. Secondary data that is processed is data at the village level. The determination of the bioecological carrying capacity is based on the calculation of the ecological footprint as a manifestation of the level of consumption that reflects the population’s needs, and biocapacity which is the embodiment of the aspect of land use in providing resources. Based on the current conditions and land use composition, the Sleman Regency area only has a biocapacity value or can only support each resident with a land area of 0.20 hectares global/person. On the other hand, the value of the ecological footprint or the level of need reaches 0.279 global hectares/person. Thus, the bioecological carrying capacity in Sleman Regency has a value of 0.87 or a deficit of 0.078 hectares globally per capita. That shows that the Sleman Regency area has experienced an overpopulation with current productivity and land use. The low carrying capacity of bioecology in Sleman Regency is also reflected in the fact that most villages are classified as having low carrying capacity, reaching 68%. However, many villages still have a high bioecological carrying capacity (1.2), especially in the northern and western parts of the Sleman Regency. The primary attention needs to be devoted to villages with a low bioecological carrying capacity, which is 58 villages. In these villages, the direction of development needs to be emphasized in controlling land use change and increasing productivity, limiting business scale, and controlling population growth rates.

Abstract

With Kupang City's subdistricts serving as the analysis unit, this study seeks to determine the hierarchy of service centers. The hierarchy level of service centers is ascertained by the use of centrality indices and scalogram techniques. The results are presented in a hierarchy table based on the presence and completeness of service facilities in each area. In Kupang City, Hierarchy I includes the Oebobo and Maulafa subdistricts, which have more complete facilities and infrastructure and function as primary service centers with significant influence on surrounding areas. Hierarchy II consists of the Alak and Kelapa Lima subdistricts, which, although having more facilities, are not as comprehensive as Oebobo and Maulafa, with lower service quality. Meanwhile, the Kota Raja and Kota Lama subdistricts are in Hierarchy III, with more limited facilities and functioning as local service centers with lower accessibility. The results of this study are expected to provide insights for the local government in planning related to service centers.

Abstract

Tin mining in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province has long been a strategic economic sector since the colonial era. Despite its significant contribution to the national economy, this activity has led to complex ecological and social impacts, including environmental degradation, pollution, and social conflict. This study aims to analyze tin mining practices through the lens of environmental ethics, highlighting the moral imbalance between human interests and nature. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the research draws on a literature review of scholarly articles, media investigations, and theoretical frameworks of environmental ethics—particularly anthropocentrism, biocentrism, and ecocentrism. The findings reveal the dominance of anthropocentric values in mining policies and practices, wherein human interests are prioritized over ecosystem sustainability. Weak governance, the prevalence of illegal mining, and widespread environmental damage point to an ethical crisis in natural resource management. Biocentric and ecocentric approaches are proposed as normative alternatives that recognize the intrinsic value of nature and non-human life forms. This study underscores the urgency of reformulating development paradigms based on ecological justice to achieve more inclusive and ethical sustainability in resource governance in Indonesia

Abstract

Land productivity is significantly influenced by the patterns of land use and management practices employed. The excessive application of chemical composts and pesticides has been shown to degrade soil fertility and pose long-term threats to environmental sustainability. To mitigate these adverse effects, it is essential to introduce the principles of conservation-oriented agriculture from an early age. This community engagement activity was designed to provide elementary students at SD Negeri 13 Taliwang, West Sumbawa Regency, with direct experience in the production and application of organic compost. Moreover, the program aligns with the objectives of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5), particularly through its focus on practical planting activities using potted plants. The implementation methods included an introductory session on the concept and environmental benefits of bokashi, which included a practical session involving direct student participation in the compost making process. Besides introducing eco-friendly technologies, the activity fostered environmental awareness among students. Similar programs should be continued to support early understanding of sustainable agriculture.
