Abstract

Abstract

Tourism development in South Kuta Subdistrict has driven an increase in construction activities for residential needs, infrastructure, and supporting tourism facilities. These activities have led to the growing potential of critical land in the South Kuta Subdistrict. This study aims to determine the distribution and area of critical land in South Kuta Subdistrict. The data used in this study includes administrative maps, forest area maps, erosion maps, land use maps, and slope maps. A few methods used included overlay and scoring of maps based on parameters. The study results showed that the non-critical land area is 4.212,16 ha, potentially critical land is 2.601,51 ha, moderately critical land is 3.197,24 ha, and critical land is 102.08 ha. The non-critical land classes tends to dominate the northern part, while the critical land is more spread out in the southern part. The northern part is the area that developed earlier with more structured planning, such as the Nusa Dua area. Critical land requires prioritized handling by implementing appropriate conservation techniques to prevent further damage. Conservation efforts that can be made include planting ground cover plants to prevent surface erosion, and the government’s role is essential in enforcing building permits on critical lands.

Abstract

Coastal area have great potential for the development of marine tourism; however, their viability highly depends on environmental quality, particularly water quality. This study aims to analyze the physical and chemical parameters of water quality as indicators of tourism feasibility in the Batu Angus coastal area, Bitung City, North Sulawesi. Data collection was conducted at three representative sampling points using a descriptive quantitative approach, with parameters including temperature, water clarity, pH, salinity, dissolved oxygen (DO), ammonia, and visual observations of waste presence, oil films, and odors. The measurement results show that all parameters are within the seawater quality standards for tourism based on Government Regulation No. 22 of 2021. Temperature ranged from 29.05–29.17 °C, clarity reached up to 9 m, pH ranged from 7.85–8.11, salinity from 32.93–33.28 ppt, DO from 8.47–9.16 mg/L, and ammonia levels were very low (<LOD–0.005 mg/L). No signs of visual pollution, such as waste, oil layers, or odor, were detected. Based on these findings, the Batu Angus coastal waters are deemed suitable for development as a marine tourism destination. This study recommends sustainable management through regular water quality monitoring and an ecotourism approach to maintain marine environmental quality. Keywords: water quality, marine tourism, Batu Angus, physical-chemical parameters, tourism feasibility, ecotourism.

Abstract

Malaka Regency, which borders Timor-Leste, faces challenges in utilizing its natural resources, thus requiring learning media to explore local potential. This study aims to develop a learning booklet based on local renewable energy sources and test its effectiveness. This study employed a research and design model developed by Borg and Gall. For analysis, N-Gain was used to evaluate pre-test and post-test results, involving 98 eighth-grade students and 27 social studies teachers in the dissemination stage. The results showed a significant increase in student understanding with an N-Gain of 0.6647 (66.47%), which is considered effective. A paired t-test revealed a highly significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores (p < 0.001), with an effect size (Cohen's d = 2.568) indicating a substantial impact. 78.15% of teachers considered the booklet suitable for classroom use. These findings indicate that the developed booklet is effective and pedagogically appropriate.

Abstract

Fast and accurate healthcare services, particularly in emergency situations, are highly influenced by the effectiveness of access to health facilities. Therefore, geographic accessibility becomes a key factor in improving both the accessibility and quality of services for the community. This study aims to map service coverage areas and determine the fastest routes to healthcare facilities in Denpasar City. The method employed is Network Analysis based on Geographic Information Systems (GIS), using QGIS 3.6 software. The analysis results indicate that there are 23 healthcare facilities evenly distributed across all subdistricts, all located within a 5 km radius of Sanglah Hospital. Distances to Sanglah Hospital range from 0.4 to 5 km, with estimated travel times between 0.48 and 6 minutes. The nearest facilities are RS Medika Prima II and RS Surya Husadha, located 0.4 km away with an estimated travel time of approximately 0.48 minutes, while RS Bhakti Rahayu is the farthest, at a distance of 5 km and a travel time of approximately 6 minutes. These findings provide important implications for evacuation route planning and the enhancement of spatially based emergency healthcare systems.
