Abstract

This research explores the preparedness of Indonesian cadets in multimodal transportation, focusing on 50 cadets from a transportation institution in Jakarta. Qualitative methods, including interviews and focus groups, were used to assess their knowledge, skills, and adaptability to emerging trends and technologies. The findings indicate that while cadets demonstrate a strong understanding of key concepts and principles, there are areas for improvement, particularly in problem-solving skills and adaptability to new technologies. Recommendations include enhancing problem-solving skills, incorporating training on emerging technologies, fostering collaboration and interdisciplinary learning, providing continuous professional development opportunities, strengthening industry-academia collaboration, evaluating and updating curriculum regularly, and promoting lifelong learning and professionalism. These recommendations aim to enhance the preparedness of Indonesian cadets and ensure that educational programs align with the evolving needs of the transportation industry.

Abstract

Speedboat accidents in Indonesian waters are still frequent, causing casualties and property damage. This study aims to analyze the risk factors and formulate prevention strategies for speedboat accidents. The research method used is descriptive with a qualitative approach. Data were collected from literature, statistical data, and interviews with experts. The results showed that human factors are the main risk factors, followed by technical and environmental factors. The recommended prevention strategies include improving driver training and education, implementing strict regulations and supervision, improving speedboat quality, strengthening early warning systems, and community participation.

Abstract

This research aimed to design an efficient and environmentally friendly smartship to support maritime transportation activities in Pantai Indramayu. Research methods included literature review, 3D modeling, and numerical simulation. Results demonstrated that the proposed smartship design can reduce fuel consumption by up to 20% compared to conventional vessels of similar size. Additionally, the developed autonomous navigation system enables the ship to operate independently under various weather conditions. In conclusion, this smartship design holds significant potential to enhance operational efficiency and reduce environmental impact within Indonesia's maritime industry

Abstract

This study investigates the application of renewable energy—specifically solar panels and wind turbines—in the electrical systems of fishing vessels. The research methodology includes literature review, power demand analysis, simulations, and experimental trials on a prototype fishing vessel. The findings demonstrate that integrating renewable energy systems can reduce fuel consumption by up to 30% and significantly improve operational efficiency. The adoption of a hybrid solar and wind energy system enables fishing vessels to remain at sea longer without complete reliance on fossil fuels. This study makes a notable contribution to the field of marine electrical systems and renewable energy by developing and validating a sustainable, energy-efficient onboard power system through a comprehensive empirical approach—ranging from technical design and simulation to field implementation. Key outcomes include a 30% reduction in fuel use and an increase in system efficiency to 85%, offering a practical solution for lowering operational costs among small-scale fishermen. The research also advances theoretical understanding of renewable energy integration in the maritime sector, which has predominantly focused on large commercial vessels. The incorporation of lithium-ion–based energy storage systems in small Indonesian fishing vessels presents a novel approach with significant development potential, particularly in addressing geographic and energy access challenges in remote coastal communities. These results provide a foundation for formulating government policies on subsidies and incentives to support the transition to green energy in the national fisheries sector.

Abstract

Mastery of mechatronics skills is a key factor in enhancing the competitiveness of vocational high school (SMK) graduates, especially in the era of Industry 4.0. This study aims to develop the mechatronics skills of SMK Puger students through a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) project. The method used in this research is a project-based learning approach, involving the design, assembly, and testing of the ROV directly by students. The results show that the implementation of this project improves students' understanding of electrical systems, microcontroller programming, and mechanical assembly skills. Furthermore, this project also enhances teamwork and problem-solving skills. Thus, the development of mechatronics skills through the ROV project can be an effective alternative in improving the quality of learning in vocational schools. This research makes several significant contributions to vocational education, particularly in enhancing students’ mechatronics competencies through a practical and innovative learning model. These findings suggest that integrating PjBL and technological innovation in vocational education is a viable and impactful method to enhance student learning outcomes and workforce readiness
