Abstract

There is a debatable issue about the use of traditional and alternative assessment in ELT in the 21st century. The issue comes from the effectiveness of using traditional and alternative assessment to help teacher to assess the students in classroom situations in ELT. The problem is the teachers do not have better perspective in the challenges of assessment of ELT in the 21st century through alternative assessment or using both traditional and alternative assessment in classroom situation. That problem makes the use of assessment is not really effective to assess specific skill (listening, reading, writing, and speaking) of the students. This study aims, therefore, to investigate teachers’ perspective on the use of traditional and alternative assessment in ELT. The methodology of the research is using survey research with fifty English teachers as samples of this research. The data was collected by using questionnaire combine with open-ended questions relate with teachers’ perspective on traditional and alternative assessment. The results show that many teachers are really comfort with traditional assessment rather than alternative assessment since they claimed that traditional assessment is easier and more familiar to conduct in classroom situation. However, those perspectives have to be changed, the teacher should use both traditional and alternative assessment based on appropriate purposes and skills because there are challenges in assessment of ELT in 21st century to make the assessment process become more effective to improve students’ performance in English. It will be helpful by knowing the advantages and disadvantages of using traditional and alternative assessment in classroom situation to help the teacher to use them balance in the teaching and learning process.

Abstract

Abstract Menopause is the final phase where a woman's menstrual bleeding stops completely. At the age of 50 years, women enter menopause, resulting in a decrease or loss of the estrogen hormone, which causes women to experience complaints or disorders that often interfere with their daily activities and can even reduce their quality of life. Several factors that influence mothers not being ready to accept changes during menopause include education, low knowledge, work, attitudes, religion, the role of midwives, social culture and information that is still lacking. One effort to increase mothers' readiness to face menopause is to changing lifestyle and eating patterns, namely by consuming nutrients that can reduce menopausal symptoms and prevent problems that arise after menopause. The aim of this activity is to increase mothers' knowledge about balanced nutrition during menopause. The method for implementing community service activities used is in the form of counseling. After carrying out this community service activity, conclusions that can be drawn include an increase in knowledge about balanced nutrition during the menopause. The hope is that menopausal mothers can adopt a healthy lifestyle by eating nutritious food and doing physical exercise, for example seniors' exercise. By adopting a healthy lifestyle, it is hoped that the quality of life of menopausal women will be better.

Abstract

Background: Diarrheal diseases remain a major cause of morbidity and mortality among children under five, particularly in developing countries such as Indonesia. Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (CHLB) has been widely recognized as an effective strategy to prevent the transmission of diarrheal diseases in this vulnerable population.Method: This study employed a structured literature review to evaluate the role of CHLB in reducing the incidence of diarrhea among children under five. Articles were sourced from leading peerreviewed journals published between 2018 and 2024, with a focus on CHLB practices including handwashing with soap, access to clean water, proper sanitation, and health education.Result: Findings indicate that consistent implementation of CHLB interventions especially handwashing and the use of proper sanitation facilities can reduce diarrhea risk by up to 47%. The review also identified significant challenges in CHLB adoption, particularly in remote and underdeveloped areas. These challenges include limited infrastructure, low levels of public awareness, and socioeconomic barriers. Conclusion: The promotion and implementation of CHLB significantly contribute to preventing diarrheal diseases among children under five in Indonesia. Sustained support from government sectors, infrastructure investment, and public health education are essential to overcoming existing barriers. A multi-stakeholder approach is critical to reduce the disease burden, improve child health outcomes, and achieve national child survival goals
