Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine human capital management in improving school quality at SDIT Baiturrahim. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques from observation, interviews and documentation. The subjects in this research were school principals, administrative employees and teachers. The data analysis techniques in this research are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this research indicate that human capital management in improving (planning, organizing, actuating dan controlling) the quality of schools at SDIT Baiturrahim has generally been implemented. It can be seen from the various achievements that have been achieved by students and educators in various competitions ranging from city to provincial level. So that by obtaining these achievements, the quality of education at SDIT Baiturrahim can be improved.

Abstract

Mitra pengabdian mengalami kesulitan dalam membuat media pembelajaran untuk mendukung implementasi kurikulum merdeka, sementara kurikulum merdeka sudah diterapkan dalam pembelajaran di sekolah. Tujuan pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kompetensi digital guru yang mengajar di SD di Kecamatan Lubuk Alung (Kabupaten Padang Pariaman, Provinsi Sumatera Barat) dalam membuat media pembalajaran untuk membantu mengimplementasikan kurikulum merdeka (IKM) dengan menggunakan fitur “Canva Education”. Metode pelaksanaan PKM ini menggunakan sosialisasi, demonstrasi dan praktek. Instrumen evaluasi menggunakan angket dan dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil pelaksanaan pengabdian ini menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan sosialisasi IKM dan pelatihan membuat media pembelajaran dengan Canva ini memberikan manfaat dan sangat berguna bagi guru karena guru masih sangat kebingungan dalam mengimplementasi kurikulum merdeka dan belum pernah mendapatkan pelatihan pembuatan media pembelajaran kurikulum merdeka dengan Canva. Peserta pelatihan dapat membuat media pembelajaran modul ajar yang menarik dengan menggunakan Canva.

Abstract

There is a debatable issue about the use of traditional and alternative assessment in ELT in the 21st century. The issue comes from the effectiveness of using traditional and alternative assessment to help teacher to assess the students in classroom situations in ELT. The problem is the teachers do not have better perspective in the challenges of assessment of ELT in the 21st century through alternative assessment or using both traditional and alternative assessment in classroom situation. That problem makes the use of assessment is not really effective to assess specific skill (listening, reading, writing, and speaking) of the students. This study aims, therefore, to investigate teachers’ perspective on the use of traditional and alternative assessment in ELT. The methodology of the research is using survey research with fifty English teachers as samples of this research. The data was collected by using questionnaire combine with open-ended questions relate with teachers’ perspective on traditional and alternative assessment. The results show that many teachers are really comfort with traditional assessment rather than alternative assessment since they claimed that traditional assessment is easier and more familiar to conduct in classroom situation. However, those perspectives have to be changed, the teacher should use both traditional and alternative assessment based on appropriate purposes and skills because there are challenges in assessment of ELT in 21st century to make the assessment process become more effective to improve students’ performance in English. It will be helpful by knowing the advantages and disadvantages of using traditional and alternative assessment in classroom situation to help the teacher to use them balance in the teaching and learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of using digital-based information systems in Madrasahs on user satisfaction and the effectiveness of administrative data management in Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri Padang Pariaman Regency. The research approach is quantitative with survey method. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using statistical tests with Smart PLS Version 3. The results showed that the use of digital-based information systems significantly increased user satisfaction, with Original Sample 0.727, T Statistics 0.733, and P Values 0.034. However, this system does not have a significant effect on the effectiveness of administrative data management, with Original Sample 0.595, T Statistics 0.600, and P Values 0.062. This finding indicates that digital-based information systems are more effective in increasing user satisfaction than the effectiveness of administrative data management. Therefore, system implementation needs to be improved to optimize its benefits on both aspects.

Abstract

The principal is the highest leader in an educational institution, has an important role in increasing the work motivation of educational staff. Leadership is the key to effective educational implementation. School principals can lead schools towards improving quality and service by choosing the right leadership style. This research examines the leadership style of school principals to increase the work motivation of educational staff. This research uses a systematic literature review. The results of this research are that the school principal's leadership style on the performance of educational staff has a big influence which includes several aspects of the principal's leadership style, namely: (a) the daily behavior of the principal shows an attitude that is caring, open, cheerful, firm, wise, disciplined and committed, as well as stable emotions; (b) assignments are distributed fairly and instructions are provided; (c) decision making is carried out collectively or jointly; and (d) appropriate and consistent supervision. To improve the performance of educational staff, school principals motivate by providing incentives and giving awards.

Abstract

Provinsi Sumatera Barat merupakan daerah dengan beragam daya tarik wisata, salah satunya adalah Pantai Air Manis. Berkat lokasinya yang dekat dengan Bandara Internasional Minangkabau (BIM) dan keindahan alamnya, Pantai Air Manis memiliki potensi besar untuk menarik wisatawan mancanegara. Data dari Badan Pusat Statistik menunjukkan bahwa jumlah kunjungan wisatawan mancanegara ke Sumatera Barat melalui BIM di Kabupaten Padang Pariaman pada Januari 2024 mencapai 4.689 kunjungan, mengindikasikan bahwa provinsi ini menjadi salah satu destinasi pilihan bagi wisatawan asing. Namun, mitra Pokdarwis Air Manis menghadapi kendala utama, yaitu kurangnya kemampuan berkomunikasi dalam bahasa Inggris dan komunikasi wisata umum di kalangan pelaku wisata. Hal ini menghambat efektivitas promosi potensi Pantai Air Manis kepada wisatawan asing yang semakin meningkat setiap tahunnya. Untuk mengatasi masalah ini, diperlukan pelatihan yang berfokus pada peningkatan keterampilan komunikasi dan bahasa Inggris bagi pelaku wisata, serta diskusi terkait pengetahuan dan fenomena budaya asing (cross-culture) di lingkungan Air Manis. Program ini dilakukan melalui diskusi, ceramah, dan praktik langsung di lapangan. Kegiatan ini terdiri dari tahap persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan diakhiri dengan evaluasi untuk memastikan keberlanjutan program.

Abstract

Direct Cash Assistance is a policy issued by the government which has a specific purpose and reason primarily to eradicate poverty. However, in Mompang Julu Village, North Panyabungan District, Mandailing Natal Regency, there are still many problems due to the unfair and unequal distribution of direct cash assistance. The distribution of aid lacks transparency, which causes a commotion. From this problem the author wants to know how to implement the Decree of the Minister of Social Affairs Number 54/Huk/2020 concerning the Implementation of Basic Food Social Assistance and Cash Social Assistance in Handling the Impact of Corona Virus Disease 2019 in Mompang Julu Village, Panyabungan District North Mandailing Natal Regency, what are the supporting and inhibiting factors, and how is the Fiqh Siyasah Review of the Decree of the Minister of Social Affairs Number 54/Huk/2020 concerning the Implementation of Basic Food Social Assistance and Cash Social Assistance in Handling the Impact of Corona Virus Disease 2019 in Mompang Julu Village, North Panyabungan District Christmas Mandailing. The type of research used in this study isfield research, using qualitative descriptive analysis methods, namely describing phenomena or events in the field. The data collection instrument used consisted of interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of this study are that the implementation of the Minister of Social Affairs Decree Number 54/HUK/2020 concerning the Implementation of Basic Food Social Assistance and Cash Social Assistance in Handling the Impact of the 2019 Corona Virus Disease in Mompang Julu Village, North Panyabunga Subdistrict, did not run smoothly and well, then the supporting factors were because the emergence of socialization of the Village Fund BLT expenditure program, while the inhibiting factor is the lack of firmness of an implementer's attitude, as for the view of the fiqh siyasah review that in the management of state finances based on the distribution of state expenditures and expenditures it must be fair but what the relevant authorities are not fair.

Abstract

English for hospitality workers is mostly used in the room division where this section is directly related to guests that includes the realm of housekeeping and front office work. In this study, it will be discussed how the needs analysis of the use of English is taken from the learner approach to the task approach. The purpose of the study is for ensuring that language instruction is relevant, efficient, and tailored to the specific requirements of the hospitality industry, ultimately contributing to the success of both employees and the hotel itself. This research is a mixed method research that uses 74 internship students and 5 hotel workers in the field of human resources as research samples. In this study, it was found that the needs of learners that are important to consider at the beginning are subjective and objective needs, related to their attitudes towards English and their own needs. In the task approach, the learning level is divided according to the target task and task type (basic user, intermediate user, and proficient user) and then the pedagogical aspects are analyzed where students in getting learning should be with authentic and communicative materials and student-centered. In addition, from interview of hotel worker, hotel workers recognize English language proficiency as a fundamental skill that enhances their effectiveness, job satisfaction, and career prospects in the dynamic and diverse hospitality industry
