Abstract

Based on data presented by ‘Abd al-Razzāq, out of 60 ḥadīth studies spanning from 1986 to 2004, only five focused on the Andalusian region, accounting for approximately 8.3%, with none specifically addressing areas in Andalusia. More specifically, there is no connection found with the study of ḥadīth that centers on researching the figure of Muhammad Ibn Waḍḍāh (d. 899) in his book titled al-Bida’ wa al-Nahy ‘Anhā. The purpose of this writing is to explore the biography and scholarly journey of Ibn Waḍḍāh, as well as to delve deeply into related backgrounds, systematics, and methods employed in the preparation of the book al-Bida’ wa al-Nahy ‘Anhā. The method employed in this article is qualitative, utilizing a library study approach, given that the desired data is narrative and extracted from written literature. The article concludes that the background of composing the book is influenced by socio-political conditions favoring Ibn Waḍḍāh as a scholar dedicated to global knowledge. The socio-cultural conditions were alarming, marked by phenomena such as cultural acculturation, interfaith marriages, and massive conversions to Islam, prompting Ibn Waḍḍāh (d. 899) to react to the degradation of faith at that time.

Abstract

‘Abd al-Şamad al-Fālimbānī who was considered a prolific scholar  and had made a major contribution to the development of Islamic scholarship, it turns out that his ways of explaining hadith has a unique way that have been overlooked by previous researchers. In fact, he was not only recognized as an expert scholar in Sufism studies, but also had sufficient credibility to be recognized in hadith narrations. Therefore, this article reveals the characteristics of sharah hadith carried out by ‘Abd al-Şamad al-Fālimbānī in terms of his two books, Hidāyah al-Sālikīn and Siyar al-Sālikīn. The method used in this study is a literature research method with a qualitative approach in the form of exposing examples of hadiths and their editorial sharah in the two related books. The analysis used in this research is descriptive analysis by observing the pattern in the syarah hadith model used by ‘Abd al-Şamad al-Fālimbānī and comparing it with related theories so as to produce a new theory of the characteristics of patterns obtained. The results shows that the syarah hadith of ‘Abd al-Şamad al-Fālimbānī has unique characteristics, namely a language approach patterned by exposing hadiths with hadiths and has a tendency to always combine the abstract concept of Sufism with other things which are practical through definitions and divisions with the ijmali method. This can be seen from the hadiths which are interpreted differently from the Sufism approach, both in Hidāyah al-Sālikīn and Siyar al-Sālikīn. As a suggestion, this findings need to be developed in the future and can become one of the models of sharah hadith that practitioners or the general public can use in explaining the meaning of hadith ‘Abd al-Şamad al-Fālimbānī yang dinilai sebagai ulama yang produktif dan memiliki kontribusi besar terhadap perkembangan keilmuan Islam ternyata caranya dalam menjelaskan hadis yang memiliki ciri khas terlewat dari para peneliti sebelumnya. Padahal, dia tidak hanya diakui sebagai ulama yang ahli dalam bidang tasawuf, namun juga memiliki kredibilitas yang cukup diakui dalam periwayatan hadis. Oleh karena itu, artikel ini mengungkap karakteristik syarah hadis yang dilakukan oleh ‘Abd al-Şamad al-Fālimbānī yang ditinjau dari dua kitabnya, Hidāyah al-Sālikīn dan Siyar al-Sālikīn. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian pustaka dengan pendekatan kualitatif yang berupa pemaparan contoh-contoh hadis beserta redaksi syarahnya dalam kedua kitab terkait. Analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis deskriptif dengan mengamati pola dalam model syarah hadis yang digunakan oleh ‘Abd al-Şamad al-Fālimbānī serta membandingkannya dengan teori-teori terkait sehingga dapat menghasilkan teori baru dari karakteristik pola yang didapatkan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa syarah hadis ‘Abd al-Şamad al-Fālimbānī memiliki karakteristik yang unik, yaitu pendekatan bahasa berpola pensyarahan hadis dengan hadis dan cenderung selalu mencoba memadukan konsep tasawuf yang abstrak dengan hal-hal yang bersifat praktis melalui definisi dan pembagian-pembagian dengan penggunaan metode ijmālī. Hal itu dapat dilihat dari hadis-hadis yang dimaknainya secara berbeda dengan pendekatan tasawuf baik itu dalam kitab Hidāyah al-Sālikīn maupun Siyar al-Sālikīn. Sebagai saran, temuan ini perlu dikembangkan di kemudian hari serta dapat menjadi salah satu model syarah hadis yang dapat digunakan oleh para praktisi atau masyarakat luas dalam menjelaskan makna hadis

Abstract

One of the problems that often occurs in learning is misconception. Students who have it must be addressed immediately because they will hinder the learning process and can cause students to experience multiple problem. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the misconceptions that occur first. The purpose of this study was to analyze it in the temperature and heat material that occurred along with the their causes at MTs Sains Salahuddin Wahid Tebuireng. The type of research used was descriptive quantitative. The sample in this study was taken using a purposive sampling technique, namely by considering samples that had received temperature and heat material. The number of samples in this study was 22 grade 8 students. The instrument used was a four-tier diagnostic test of temperature and heat material. The results of the study showed that many students experienced misconceptions in temperature and heat material. The most common misconceptions occurred in the concept of heat transfer, where 63.63% of students were found to assume that cold temperatures in the environment were transferred to the body. Then the next most common misconception occurs in the concept of this material, where 45.45% of students assume that temperature and heat are the same thing. The cause it happen in this material is the abstract characteristics of the material and the misconceptions that teacher have

Abstract

Kasih sayang terhadap hewan kini mengalami kemerosotan dapada mayoritas individu, terutama di kalangan umat Islam. Sebaliknya, Rasulullah SAW secara praksis menerapkan perasaan tersebut. Fenomena ini menciptakan ketidakselarasan antara realitas dan norma yang seharusnya diimplementasikan. Disparitas ini mendorong perlunya penelitian yang lebih rinci guna mencapai pemahaman holistik, yang dapat diwujudkan lebih efektif oleh individu yang menganut ajaran Islam. Metode penelitian kepustakaan dengan pendekatan kualitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Sumber data berasal dari hadis yang tercantum dalam al-kutub al-tis’ah sebagai primer dalam pelacakan hadis. Temuan penelitian menegaskan bahwa hadis mengenai kasih sayang memiliki kuantitas yang memadai dan validitas yang terjamin. Lebih lanjut, interpretasi hadis melalui fiqh al-hadis menghasilkan kesimpulan tentang konsep kasih sayang. Puncaknya, penelitian ini merumuskan enam poin komprehensif mengenai makna hadis kasih sayang terhadap hewan, yang mencakup sikap dalam konteks mengurung, menyembelih, mengendarai, memberikan perhatian terhadap hewan yang kehausan, memperhatikan hewan kecil yang terpisah dari induknya, dan memeliharanya.

Abstract

Among Sunni Muslims—particularly between traditionalist and reformist circles—the practice of tabarruk at the Prophet’s tomb has remained a persistent source of controversy. The differing views, as seen between Nahdlatul Ulama and Wahhabi groups, reflect deeper tensions in understanding the legitimacy of such a practice. This issue is worth examining, as it highlights how variations in the interpretation of hadith shape religious perspectives within the Muslim community.This article aims to identify the differences in the use of hadith concerning tabarruk at the Prophet’s tomb by two prominent scholars: Sayyid Muḥammad ibn ʿAlawī al-Mālikī, representing the Sunni traditionalist perspective, and ʿAlī ibn Nāfiʿ al-ʿIlyānī, representing the Sunni reformist view. The study analyzes the hadiths each scholar employs as evidence, taking into account their authenticity, authority, interpretation, and the contextual factors underlying their differing positions.Using the methods of hadith criticism and ijmālī (holistic) understanding, this article reveals fundamental differences in their reasoning regarding tabarruk. The divergence lies not only in their choice of hadiths but also in how each relates the practice to societal behavior—whether deemed excessive or overly restrictive. Sayyid Muḥammad ibn ʿAlawī al-Mālikī argues that people are too quick to prohibit tabarruk, whereas ʿAlī ibn Nāfiʿ al-ʿIlyānī contends that the public tends to overindulge in it. In terms of validity, both hadiths used are authentic: the one cited by Sayyid Muḥammad is mauqūf al-sanad but marfūʿ al-ḥukm, while that cited by Shaykh ʿAlī ibn Nāfiʿ is marfūʿ. Both therefore carry equal argumentative strength.{Di kalangan Muslim Sunnī, khususnya antara kalangan tradisionalis dan reformis, praktik tabarruk dengan makam Nabi telah menjadi sumber kontroversi yang terus berlanjut. Perbedaan pandangan ini, seperti yang terlihat antara kelompok Nahdlatul Ulama dan Wahhabi, mencerminkan ketegangan dalam pemahaman terhadap praktik tersebut. Isu ini menjadi relevan untuk diteliti mengingat pentingnya memahami bagaimana perbedaan interpretasi hadis memengaruhi pandangan keagamaan di kalangan umat Islam. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi perbedaan penggunaan hadis tentang tabarruk dengan makam Nabi oleh dua tokoh besar, yaitu Sayyid Muḥammad ibn ’Alawī al-Mālikī yang mewakili perspektif Sunnī tradisionalis, dan ‘Ali ibn Nafi’ al-‘Ilyani yang mewakili Sunnī reformis. Penelitian ini menganalisis hadis-hadis yang mereka gunakan sebagai dalil, dengan mempertimbangkan aspek kesahihan, kehujahan, pemahaman mereka, serta faktor yang melatarbelakangi perbedaan ini. Dengan pendekatan kritik hadis dan pemahaman ijmālī, artikel ini mengungkapkan perbedaan mendasar dalam pendalilan kedua tokoh ini terhadap tabarruk dengan makam Nabi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan ini tidak hanya terletak pada pemilihan hadis, tetapi juga pada cara keduanya menghubungkan praktik ini dengan respons terhadap perilaku masyarakat, yang dianggap berlebihan atau sebaliknya. Di satu sisi, Sayyid Muḥammad ibn ’Alawī al-Mālikī memandang masyarakat terlalu mudah mengharamkan tabarruk makam Nabi, sementara di sisi lain, ‘Ali ibn Nafi’ al-‘Ilyani menganggap masyarakat berlebihan dalam mempraktikkannya. Dari sisi validitas, kedua hadis yang digunakan adalah sahih, Hadis yang digunakan oleh Sayyid Muḥammad berstatus mauqūf al-sanad namun marfū‘ al-ḥukm, sedangkan hadis yang digunakan Syaikh ‘Alī ibn Nāfi’ berstatus marfū‘. Keduanya memiliki kekuatan argumentatif yang seimbang.}

Abstract

The feeling of affection towards animals is now starting to disappear in most humans, especially Muslims. In fact, this feeling is something that was practiced by Rasulullah SAW. Of course, this raises a discrepancy between reality and the theory that should be done. This discrepancy raises the need for a more in-depth study in order to obtain a thorough understanding so that it can be realized more specifically by people who embrace Islam. This study uses library research methods with a qualitative approach. The data source is the hadith in kitub at-tis’ah as the main source for references in tracking hadith. The results of the research show that the existence of hadiths about compassion are quite numerous and valid. From here, practicing affection feeling for animals is indeed a good thing as exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad SAW as contained in a number of hadiths. Therefore, Islam considers acts of affection for animals as something which is recommended to be done.

Abstract

In the last decade, a new approach has been developed called the scientific approach to understanding hadith (fiqh al-hadith). Interestingly, there is a theory that states that everything that is tested through a scientific approach has a principle that can always be falsified. From this, the assumption arises that if the truth of the hadith is already based on scientific theory, but later there is a revision that causes the theory to be falsified, then this will actually drop the validity of the hadith itself. Hegel's philosophical theory is a method that is considered appropriate to resolve these pros and cons. This study aims to answer how Hegel's dialectical theory works and its urgency in research. In addition, the pros and cons in the discourse of the scientific approach and how Hegel's dialectics can be applied within the scope of the study of fiqh al-hadith. This study uses a literature study method with a qualitative-descriptive approach. As a result, Hegel's dialectic turns out to be applicable in problems that arise from the contradiction of two things. Furthermore, the pros and cons in the scientific approach arise from efforts to understand the hadith and efforts to strengthen its validity. The pros and cons, after being analyzed using Hegel's dialectics, turned out to produce several solutions. First, only hadiths that explicitly mention natural phenomena can use a scientific approach. Second, science is only a support, not a basis for validity. Third, the hadith studied must always be positioned as an undeniable revelation from Allah.AbstrakPada dekade belakangan, berkembanglah pendekatan baru yang disebut pendekatan saintifik untuk memahami hadis (fiqh al-hadis). Menariknya, terdapat teori yang menyebutkan bahwa segala sesuatu yang diuji melalui pendekatan saintifik memiliki prinsip selalu dapat difalsifikasi. Dari sini, timbul asumsi jika kebenaran hadis yang sudah dilandasi dengan teori sains jika kemudian terdapat revisi yang menyebabkan teori tersebut difalsifikasi, maka hal ini justru akan menjatuhkan validitas hadis itu sendiri. Teori filsafat Hegel merupakan metode yang dianggap tepat untuk menyelesaikan pro-kontra ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjawab bagaimana teori dialektika Hegel bekerja serta urgensinya dalam penelitian. Selain itu, pro-kontra dalam diskursus pendekatan sains serta bagaimana dialektika Hegel dapat diterapkan dalam ruang lingkup kajian fiqh al-hadis. Penelitian ini  menggunakan metode studi pustaka dengan pendekatan kualitatif-deskriptif. Hasilnya, dialektika Hegel ternyata dapat diterapkan dalam  masalah yang timbul dari pertentangan dua hal. Selanjutnya, pro-kontra dalam pendekatan saintifik timbul dari upaya untuk memahami hadis dan upaya untuk menguatkan validitasnya. Pro-kontra tersebut setelah dilakukan analisis menggunakan dialektika Hegel, ternyata menghasilkan beberapa pemecahan. Pertama, hanya hadis yang menyebutkan fenomena alam secara eksplisit yamh dapat menggunakan pendekatan saintifik. Kedua, sains hanya sebagai pendukung, bukan landasan validitas. Ketiga, hadis yang dikaji harus selalu diposisikan sebagai wahyu dari Allah yang tidak dapat dibantah

Abstract

The tradition of reciting Surah al-Wāqi‘ah at night in Indonesian Islamic boarding schools reflects a deep desire to understand the Quran. However, the continuity of this practice requires a strong legal basis. This study examines the validity of hadith supporting this tradition using the Takhrīj al-Hadīth method. The main point is to ensure the credibility of the hadith chain and its textual content. The goal is to offer a more profound comprehension of the virtues of reciting Surah al-Wāqi‘ah and to evaluate the authenticity of this tradition. While this tradition holds significant educational value for students, it's crucial to strengthen its legal foundation. The research highlights that the hadith supporting this practice falls under the category of aḥād - gharīb due to its transmission through one narrator, 'Abdullah ibn Mas’ūd. However, the weakness lies in the weak ḍa‘īf (weak) status of its chain due to an unknown narrator’s reliability, Abū Ẓabyah. This study offers profound insights into religious practices and emphasizes the critical evaluation needed for traditional practices. Reciting Surah al-Wāqi‘ah remains valuable, yet understanding a strong legal basis is crucial to maintaining the authenticity of religious practices.
