Abstract

The lack of motivation that employees have in carrying out work responsibilities often results in poor performance for the company. The service aims to increase the motivation of PT. Langkat Nusantara Kepong (LNK) so that employees who have high motivation are formed, so that there is an increase in performance. The method of implementing this service is carried out in several activities, namely a survey to determine the location of the service, preparing materials and conducting training. Then 4 gardens were chosen as the location of the dedication, namely: Basilam, Bekiun, Gohor Lama and Padang Brahrang. The team implementing the community service activities is a lecturer at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Teuku Umar. The dedication team provides material that fosters motivation such as explanations on how to become employees with integrity, creative and innovative professionals. Furthermore, the stage of sharing experiences or question and answer discussion is carried out. The results of this community service can be concluded that employees need motivation. It is hoped that the company pays attention to the form of motivation given to employees, for example giving rewards, if employees are motivated then performance will improve. High work motivation will create employees who are swift in carrying out tasks.

Abstract

Rawa Singkil region of Conservation Forest Management Area (KPHK) is a sanctuary for fauna teeming with an abundance of plant species. The species diversity is predominantly constituted of rattan and other non-timber forest products. This investigation seeks to compile a list of the various species of rattan found in the Rawa Singkil KPHK region. Therefore, this study was carried out in the Rawa Singkil region of KPHK were located in the Aceh Singkil Regency of Aceh Province, Indonesia. Spanning an area of 82,374 ha, this territory comprises nearly fifty percent peat ecosystem. A survey is utilized as the research strategy, with data acquisition conducted via sampling techniques. Moreover, the acquired data were subjected to descriptive analysis on the basis of morphological attributes, encompassing the following morphological characteristics: 1) the stem (including characteristics such as height, diameter, color, internode length, and thorn shape); 2) the leaf, including its length, ocrea, leaf count, leaf color, and leaf surface; 3) knee (color and outline of the knee); 4) thorn; (spine color, length of longest spines, position of spines, and length of shortest spines). Eight species of rattan were discovered in this region, i.e Plectocomia elongata Mart., Daemonorops mattanensis Becc, Daemonorops melanochaetes, Korthalsia echinometra Becc, and Calamus ornatus Blume

Abstract

Proper harvest and post-harvest handling techniques can influence the quality of the harvest, such as cleanliness, freshness and visual quality. In hydroponic mustard cultivation, harvest and post-harvest handling is very important because hydroponic mustard plants require special treatment to ensure the quality of the harvest. The research was carried out at the UF (University Farm) Land of Teuku Umar University, West Aceh Regency in October 2023. Procedures for carrying out the research included harvesting, washing and removing manure, sorting, packaging, cooling and storage, transportation, marketing. The conclusions are (1) good harvesting is done in the morning and evening to avoid sunlight which can trigger wilting of mustard plants and (2) good packaging can increase the safety of products that will be marketed to consumers.

Abstract

Asahan Regency occupies the 13th position out of 33 regencies/cities as a rice producer in North Sumatra Province the rice productivity results are relatively low so that it is a problem that needs to be resolved. Agricultural extension workers act as motivators, educators, facilitators and communicators. This study aims to determine and analyze the influence of the role of agricultural extension agents on the productivity of paddy rice in Asahan Regency. The study was conducted in Asahan Regency, North Sumatra Province using primary data obtained from direct surveys and secondary data as supporting data using the Stratified Proportional Random Sampling method. The respondents were farmers from 3 sub-districts, namely Rawang Panca Arga, Sei Kepayang and Meranti districts. Data analysis using description analysis and Partial Least Square (PLS).

Abstract

This community service activity aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of the “Hasil Sepakat” Women Farmers Group (KWT) in implementing the Integrated Crop Management (ICM) system in rice cultivation. The methods used included outreach, training, mentoring, and demonstration plots. The results showed an improvement in participants’ understanding of sustainable rice cultivation techniques, as evidenced by their active participation in discussions and their ability to apply the practical steps for producing botanical pesticides. In addition, an agricultural technology assistance package was provided to support the implementation of ICM. This activity contributed to the empowerment of women farmers and supported the regional food security program, increasing rice productivity to 8.5 tons/ha..

Abstract

Background: Endophytic bacteria live within plant tissues without causing disease symptoms and possess strong potential as biocontrol agents through the production of antimicrobial compounds such as bacillomycin, iturin, siderophores, hydrogen cyanide, chitinase, glucanase, protease, and volatile compounds like acetoin, 2,3-butanediol, and H₂S. These metabolites can inhibit leaf blight pathogens, including Xanthomonas oryzae. The prolonged use of chemical pesticides has caused pathogen resistance, environmental harm, and health risks, highlighting the need for eco-friendly biopesticides. Endophytic bacteria provide a sustainable alternative by suppressing pathogens through competition, biofilm formation, and inducing plant resistance. This study aims to explore the potential of endophytic bacteria isolated from rice roots as biocontrol agents against leaf blight pathogens in vitro. Methodology: Endophytic bacteria were isolated from healthy 40 days rice plants in Pajar Village, Darul Hikmah District, Aceh Jaya Regency Aceh Province. Isolation and purification were carried out using the streak plate technique, followed by macroscopic and microscopic characterization. Antagonistic ability was evaluated through the well diffusion method, and the effects of selected isolates on seed vigor and viability were assessed. Findings: A total of 25 isolates were successfully obtained, exhibiting macroscopic and microscopic diversity. Seven isolates inhibited pathogen growth by forming clear zones, with isolate AJY07 showing moderate inhibition (10 mm). These seven isolates (AJY04, AJY06, AJY07, AJY09, AJY11, AJY23, and AJY24) also enhanced seed vigor and viability and reduced infection during germination by 10–20% compared to controls. Contributions: The findings demonstrate the potential of selected endophytic bacteria as environmentally friendly biopesticides to support the development for sustainable rice cultivation
