Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of the TikTok application in enhancing regular verb learning among tenth-grade students at Vocational High School (SMK) Negeri 6 Pekanbaru. A quasi-experimental research design was applied, involving two classes: an experimental class of 36 students, who used TikTok-based learning activities, and a control class of 36 students, who were taught using conventional methods. The research instrument consisted of a multiple-choice test. To determine significant differences between the two groups, statistical data analysis, including a paired sample t-test, was conducted. The results showed that the experimental class exhibited a notable improvement, with their post-test scores increasing from an average of 51.39 to 76.94, reflecting a gain of 25.55 points. Meanwhile, the control class, which followed traditional teaching methods, demonstrated only a minor improvement from 56.11 to 61.25. The significance level (sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000, which is lower than the standard alpha level of 0.05, confirmed that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. These findings suggest that the TikTok application significantly enhances regular verb learning among tenth-grade students at SMK Negeri 6 Pekanbaru. Keywords: Regular verbs, TikTok, digital learning, language acquisition

Abstract

This research aims to explore the role of a design thinking approach in teacher professional development as a transdisciplinary strategy to foster curriculum innovation. Using a literature review, this research examines various academic sources and empirical studies that discuss the integration of design thinking in educational contexts, particularly in teacher training and capacity development. Findings indicate that design thinking not only enhances teachers' ability to design relevant and creative learning experiences but also fosters cross-disciplinary collaboration, empathy for student needs, and increased flexibility and responsiveness to curriculum change. This approach strengthens teachers' position as adaptive and reflective learning designers in facing the complex challenges of the 21st century. Therefore, adopting design thinking in teacher professional development programs is considered strategic for generating contextual and sustainable curriculum innovation.

Abstract

The growing reliance on e-learning platforms has highlighted the importance of interaction design in shaping student engagement and learning outcomes. Poorly designed digital learning environments often lead to low motivation, decreased participation, and reduced retention rates. Ensuring that interaction design effectively supports student engagement is essential for optimizing online learning experiences. This study aims to examine the impact of interaction design elements, including navigation structure, multimedia integration, and user experience, on student engagement in e-learning environments. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining a usability assessment of e-learning platforms, student engagement surveys, and instructor interviews. Findings indicate that intuitive navigation, interactive multimedia, and real-time feedback mechanisms significantly enhance student participation and learning satisfaction. Statistical analysis revealed a strong correlation between well-designed interaction features and improved student retention rates. The study concludes that incorporating user-centered interaction design principles in e-learning platforms enhances engagement and contributes to more effective learning experiences. Future research should explore adaptive and AI-driven interaction design models to further optimize student-centered digital learning environments.
