Abstract

Background: Adolescent smoking has a significant impact on public health. Adolescent smoking is a global health problem that requires serious attention since it causes long-term public health impacts, including an increased risk of chronic diseases.  Objectives: This review aims to examine the comparisons and factors affecting adolescent cigarette consumption in Asian countries. Methods: This study used a scoping review method to explore and understand the level of cigarette consumption among youth in various Asian countries. This study used various sources from PubMed, Google Scholar, and Springer Link databases. The keywords used in this article include youth cigarette consumption, Asia, Factors, Prevalence, and Comparison. This review was conducted on 400 articles that were screened and analyzed into 10 articles. The selected articles were free and full text in English, within five years between 2019 and 2023. The selected articles covered various fields namely medicine, health, healthcare, environmental science, and social science. The selected articles provided data from Malaysia, Japan, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, and East Timor. Results: The results are used to detail a comparison of youth cigarette consumption in Asia countries, thereby supporting more effective and contextualized public health. Conclusion: We identified that personal, environmental, and societal factors are the main causes of youth cigarette consumption in Asia.

Abstract

Kelelahan adalah suatu sinyal yang menandakan bahwa tubuh memerlukan waktu untuk beristirahat. Kelelahan menjadi masalah umum yang banyak dialami oleh orang dan menjadi salah satu faktor penyebab kecelakaan. Kelelahan dapat terjadi pada pekerja berbagai rentang usia, termasuk pekerja muda usia 15-24 tahun. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kelelahan pada pekerja muda meliputi usia, status gizi (Indeks Masa Tubuh), status pernikahan, masa kerja, kebiasaan olahraga, konsumsi kafein, konsumsi alkohol, kebiasaan merokok, kualitas tidur, kepuasan kerja, dan stres kerja terhadap kelelahan kerja itu sendiri pada pekerja muda di provinsi Bali. Penelitian dilakukan pada pekerja muda di Bali, melibatkan 298 pekerja muda. Rancangan penelitian ini adalah analitik kuantitatif dengan cross-sectional study. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi Industrial Fatigue Research Committee (IFRC), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Sleep Hygiene Index untuk melihat higiene tidur dan kuesioner adaptasi dari Copenhagen penilaian lebih lanjut dan perbaikan untuk mencegah terjadinya kelelahan berkelanjutan yang Psychosocial Questionnaire-III. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji regresi logistic sederhana. Hasilnya menunjukkan sebagian besar responden dalam kategori lelah (77,52%). Tiga gejala kelelahan yang terjadi yaitu sebagian besar merasa haus, merasa mengantu, dan menguap saat bekerja. Uji bivariat didapatkan sebagian besar tingkat kelelahan kategori lelah terjadi pada kelompok usia >21 tahun, jenis kelamin laki-laki, belum menikah, indeks massa normal, masa kerja >12 Bulan, kualitas tidur buruk, higiene tidur baik, tidak merokok, mengonsumsi alkohol, mengonsumsi kafein, dan tidak melakukan aktivitas olahraga Berdasarkan analisis multivariat, terdapat hubungan bermakna antara variabel kualitas tidur (p=0,005) dan stres kerja (p<0,001) terhadap kelelahan. Disimpulkan secara umum, kelelahan pada pekerja muda di provinsi Bali dalam kondisi membutuhkan perhatian khusus, karena dapat menjadi risiko kritis terjadinya kecelakaan kerja.

Abstract

Background : Fatigue is a consequence of work which decreases physical and mental work capacity that indicates the body needs time to rest. Fatigue being one of the factors causing accidents in the workplace. Fatigue can occur in workers of various age ranges, including young workers aged 15-24 years. With the increasing number of young workers who will dominate, it is important to protect young workers from work-related accidents. Objective : To analyze risk factors for fatigue among youth workers including individual, lifestyle, job and psychosocial factors. Research Methods/ Implementation Methods : The study was conducted on young workers of in Bali, involving 298 young workers. The design of this study is a quantitative analytic with cross-sectional study. The instruments used the IFRC for fatigue, PSQI for Sleep Hygiene Index to view sleep hygiene and the questionnaire for further assessment and improvement to prevent ongoing fatigue that is Psychosocial Questionnaire-III. Results : The results showed that most respondents in the category of moderate fatigue (57,72%) with the highest symptoms of fatigue were yawn while working (56.38%). Multivariate analysis using logistic regression tests found that stress variable showed a significant relationship to fatigue with an OR value = 4.28, meaning that stressed workers were 4.28 times more at risk of experiencing fatigue than those without stress. Conclusion/Lesson Learned : In general, fatigue among young workers in workplace in conditions of need is a critical risk of work accidents. There needs to be special attention for young workers fit for the work and fit for the job.
