Abstract

Abstract Interprofessional education (IPE) is important in medical and health education, to improving students’ teamwork and  understanding their profession role in patient care. IPE as a preparation for health profession students to be able to collaborate and teamwork in patient care. Medical students in FK Undiksha are learned IPE on 7th semester. Several IPE assignments are related to the implementation of the travel medicine field lab which is carried out in several health centers in Buleleng Regency. This field lab is carried out in 7th semester and is related to public health and travel medicine. This study was conducted to determine the level of readiness of students' IPE learning on field lab learning. This study was conducted on 7th semester Medical Student in FK Undiksha who were selected by total sampling. The instrument used was RIPLS which has been tested for validity and reliability. The results will be analyzed descriptively to determine the level of readiness of students' IPE learning on each instrument item. In this study, students showed that they had good understanding of cooperation and collaboration between professions, positive professional identity and negative professional identity. Keywords : interprofessional education (IPE), field lab travel medicine, student readiness

Abstract

Fasciolopsis buski is a parasitic helminth that can infect humans. Diagnosing helminthiasis can be confirmed through fecal testing utilizing the Kato-Katz method.  The Kato-Katz method employs methylene blue staining, which poses environmental hazards due to its carcinogenic characteristics. An alternative to staining is the use of a canang, a common Balinese item used for prayers. The utilized waste canang flowers were Tagetes erecta, Impatiens balsamina (red), and Impatiens balsamina (purple). The research began with an extraction procedure that involved cutting the flowers into small pieces, resulting in approximately 500 grams of fragments. The flower components were macerated in two liters of 96% ethanol for five days. Additionally, cellophane immersion of the extracted findings was performed. The findings indicated that each sample from the three treatment groups (T1, 1%; T2, 2%; and T3, 3%) and the two control groups.  Sub-analysis testing evaluated the quantity of helminth eggs, quantified as eggs per gram of feces via field-of-view observation. The T3 (3%) exhibited results that were not statistically significantly different (P>0.05) from the positive control group. The T3 (3%) test provides the most favorable and optimal results as a substitute for methylene blue in microscopic staining evaluations.

Abstract

Diarrhea is the third leading cause of death among children under the age of five worldwide. Diarrhea can result from bacterial infections, viral infections, or parasitic infestations that disrupt the functioning of the digestive system. Therefore, research on the morphology of Blastocystis hominis is necessary to aid in the diagnosis of diarrhea. This study is an experimental investigation conducted on Jones culture medium that has been altered with fetal bovine serum. The study consists of five trial groups with different volume: P1 (0.1 mL), P2 (0.5 mL), P3 (1.0 mL), P4 (1.5 mL), and P5 (2.0 mL). The morphological findings of Blastocystis hominis in each trial group, with pH averages P1 (7.29), P2 (7.27), P3 (7.30), dan P4 (7.31), were examined microscopically. The results were found to be optimal, with a statistical value of P>0.05 in the independent t-test. The P5 test group (6.15) differed significantly from the gold standard at P<0.001. The fetal bovine serum can be utilized for clinical reasons at a volume of 0.1 mL and a pH of 7.29, as it is already capable of displaying morphological results.

Abstract

The lotus birth method of delivery is a method of delivery that does not involve clamping or cutting the umbilical cord, so the umbilical cord is left with the baby and is connected to the placenta, until the umbilical cord is dry and falls off by itself.(Sedana, 2022). This study aims to determine the clinical characteristics of pregnant women who gave birth using the lotus birth method at the Permata Bunda Maternity Clinic for the period 2012 – 2019. The location of this research is located at the Permata Bunda Maternity Clinic, Buleleng Regency, Bali Province. This type of research is descriptive observational research with a cross-sectional research design. The population used in this study were all pregnant women who gave birth using the lotus birth method at the Permata Bunda Maternity Clinic for the period June 2012 - December 2019. The sample for this study was taken using a random sampling technique that met the research inclusion criteria. The variables in this study were the patient's age, weight, gestational age, uterine fundal height, blood pressure, parity, previous delivery method, and pregnancy spacing. The data obtained will be presented using Microsoft Excel software and analyzed using the SPSS (Statistical Package For Social Science) program. The data that has been collected will be processed and presented in table form. Based on the results of research conducted regarding the characteristics of pregnant women who gave birth using the lotus birth delivery method at the Permata Bunda Maternity Clinic for the period 2012-2019, the following conclusions were obtained: from the results of this study it was found that (87.9%) of the subjects of this study were aged 20-35 years , (60.6%) multigravida, (60.6%) had a pregnancy interval of more than 1 year, (100%) gave birth vaginally, had an average body weight (64.83 kg), (100%) patients gave birth at term ( term), (78.8%) uterine fundal height according to gestational age, and (100%) normal blood pressure.
