Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Interactive Artificial Intelligence (AI) Voice in the Speech Shadowing method to improve English speaking skills in high school students. The main objectives of this study are to identify implementation strategies, challenges faced, and the effectiveness of using AI Voice in learning to speak English. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach with a multi-site case study type, which was carried out in two A-accredited private schools in Malang City. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving teachers and students as key informants. The data analysis technique used is the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, which allows researchers to categorize, organize, and draw conclusions from the data obtained. The results of the study indicate that the integration of AI Voice in the Speech Shadowing method can increase the interactivity of learning and provide direct feedback that accelerates students' mastery of speaking skills. The use of AI Voice allows students to practice with native speakers virtually, which is very effective in improving pronunciation, intonation, and fluency. However, the challenges faced in implementing this technology include limited device infrastructure, curriculum readiness, and student acceptance of new technology. However, overall, the integration of AI Voice has been shown to have a positive impact on improving students' speaking skills. Based on these findings, it is recommended that schools explore the use of technology in language learning in more depth, by providing training to teachers and ensuring the availability of adequate devices. Further research is also needed to examine the potential and challenges of implementing AI Voice in various educational contexts, in order to improve the quality of English learning at a broader level.

Abstract

Abstract

Low student interest in reading English textbooks and limited access to quality reading materials hinder vocabulary acquisition and students' adaptability in global contexts. This study aims to analyze the influence of English textbooks on students' reading interest, vocabulary mastery, and critical thinking skills. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey method. The sample consisted of 769 junior high school students selected randomly. The data were collected through a validated Likert-scale questionnaire (1–5) designed to measure students’ reading interest and vocabulary comprehension. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics with SPSS version 29.0 to identify patterns and trends. The results reveal that access to English books, both at home and at school, significantly contributes to increased reading interest and vocabulary understanding among students. The study concludes that the availability of engaging and level-appropriate English reading materials plays a critical role in supporting students’ global literacy. The implication is that improving the quality and accessibility of English books can enhance students’ academic and social development in response to the demands of the 21st century.

Abstract

Technological media is an effective teaching method among educators because it is easier and faster to implement. However, the use of interaction features and multimedia elements such as text and images in creating storytelling is still problematic for students and teachers. In addition, the assessment element of storytelling with technology still needs to be improved. The purpose of the study was to analyze the Reliability of Multimedia Elements on Tablets and Digital Story Evaluation and to determine the Correlation of Multimedia Elements on Tablets and Digital Story Evaluation. The research method is a quantitative survey approach. Subjects totaled 67 students, students, teachers, and lecturers. Data collection techniques used instruments developed from indicators of multimedia elements, digital stories, and tablets. The instrument was rated based on a Likert scale from point 1 to point 7. Data analysis techniques using SPSS Version 25.0 with validation test, mean, standard deviation, minimum value, and correlation. Results showed that multimedia, digital stories, and tablets had high reliability and correlation and a positive and significant relationship between all variables in the evaluation. This finding confirms that the elements in multimedia are at level 5 and can be used in an effective learning process. The implication provides an overview for teachers and students to use multimedia as a tool for the learning process actively.
