Abstract

This research aims to identify the tourism potential of Galang Island. The assumption underlying this research is that the development of a Tourism Village area can increase the overall tourism attractiveness of Galang Island and provide economic and social benefits for the local community. This research uses a case study approach because it is in accordance with the nature of research that centers on observing specific phenomena and contexts so that researchers can collect data thoroughly through observation, interviews, and document analysis related to the development of the Tourism Village area on the island. This research found that Galang Island has significant tourism potential with community support, but the challenges of infrastructure and economic empowerment still need to be overcome and require further research for tourism diversification and collaboration with the private sector.

Abstract

Consumer boycotts have become an increasingly significant form of consumer activism, driven by ethical, political, and social concerns. This study explores the psychological motivations behind boycott participation in Batam, focusing on emotional triggers, social identity influences, and perceived effectiveness. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions with 30 respondents from Generation X, Y, and Z. Thematic analysis was conducted manually, highlighting key motivations such as moral responsibility, peer influence, and digital activism. The findings reveal that Gen Z engages in boycotts as an expression of online activism, Gen Y is driven by ethical consumption, and Gen X remains skeptical and pragmatic. This research contributes to the literature on consumer activism, ethical consumption, and social identity theory, offering insights for businesses, policymakers, and advocacy groups on how to navigate boycott movements and maintain consumer trust.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors of generation Z entrepreneurial intentions in the agricultural sector in the industrial city of Batam. The population in this study is management students from 4 universities in Batam City with a total of 200 respondents. This research is a quantitative research. The method used to analyze the data is factor analysis. In this study, there are 19 variables that can be reduced to several factors with the results of the study showing that there are 5 new factors, namely economic improvement, decision-making, interest, entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial confidence.

Abstract

This article aims to discuss the financial performance of banks in generating profitability during the national economic recovery. Profitability is the ability of a company to create maximum profit efficiently and effectively. Profitability is also a benchmark for assessing a bank. This study aims to analyze the influence of Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR), Operating Costs and Operating Income (BOPO) and Profitability as factors that influence BUMN Banks conducting Initial Public Offering (IPO) policies for the 2019-2019 period. 2021. This study also examines Return On Assets (ROA) as a mediating variable in the research model. The sample selection method used in this study was a purposive sampling method with a total of 4 state-owned banks that met the criteria. The type of data used is secondary data and cross sectional data analysis data and the Interaction Moderating Test with the help of Statcal software. The conclusion from this study is that the Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) and Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR) have a positive effect on Return On Assets (ROA) while BOPO has a negative effect on Return On Assets (ROA). The Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) has a positive effect on Return On Investment (ROI) while the Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR) and BOPO have a negative effect on Return On Investment (ROI). On the other hand, Return On Assets (ROA) is unable to mediate the Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR) and BOPO to Return On Investment (ROI).

Abstract

Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) memiliki peran strategis dalam perekonomian Indonesia. Namun, UMKM masih menghadapi tantangan signifikan dalam aspek pengelolaan keuangan dan legalitas usaha, khususnya di wilayah Kepulauan Riau yang memiliki keterbatasan akses terhadap pelatihan dan pendampingan. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pendampingan teknis kepada pelaku usaha mikro pemula di Kepulauan Riau dalam hal pencatatan keuangan sederhana dan pengurusan legalitas usaha. Melalui pendekatan Project-Based Learning (PBL), mahasiswa Politeknik Negeri Batam mendampingi para pelaku UMKM dalam menyusun pencatatan transaksi harian serta mengurus dokumen legalitas seperti Nomor Induk Berusaha (NIB), Nomor Pokok Wajib Pajak (NPWP), dan sertifikasi halal. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa 80% peserta mampu menerapkan pencatatan transaksi harian, 70% dapat menyusun laporan keuangan sederhana, dan 75% berhasil mengurus legalitas usaha melalui platform Online Single Submission (OSS), yang berdampak pada peningkatan akses terhadap pembiayaan formal. Selain itu, program ini turut mendorong perubahan pola pikir peserta menuju pengelolaan usaha yang lebih profesional. Meskipun demikian, diperlukan pendampingan lanjutan untuk memastikan keberlanjutan implementasi. Program ini memiliki potensi untuk direplikasi di wilayah lain guna mendukung pemberdayaan UMKM yang lebih kompetitif dan berkelanjutan, serta memberikan kontribusi terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi lokal.

Abstract

This research aims to design an effective and targeted training program to uncover the skill and knowledge needs of Culinary SMEs in Batam City. The study adopts a qualitative descriptive research approach, with Culinary SMEs in Batam City serving as the informants. The research was conducted from August to November 2023, involving Bizhub Polibatam, Faculty Members, and Project Based Learning students from Department of Business Management. The research findings will be utilized as a reference by Bizhub Polibatam in developing relevant training programs to enhance the competitiveness of Culinary SMEs in Batam, thereby contributing positively to local economic growth. The pressing training needs identified for Culinary SMEs in Batam include Marketing and Digitalization Training, as well as Financial Management, preferably conducted in-person through seminars or workshops with a duration of 1-3 days.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are vital in the Indonesian economy, especially in Batam City. The culinary sector, as one of the drivers of the creative economy, needs help in terms of business management and business legality. Bizhub Polibatam as a Center of Excellence in Business & Community Service under Polibatam to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem and support the growth of MSME business foundations, especially in Batam Island. This community service activity aims to assist culinary MSME players in Batam City in designing business models using the Lean Canvas method and facilitating making Business Identification Numbers (NIB). This program involves 20 culinary MSMEs in Batam City. The activity results showed an increased understanding of MSME players about business models and the importance of business legality, with 100% of participants successfully assisting in making NIB and creating a Lean Canvas model in their business.
