Abstract

The tradition of uang panai is one of the traditions that is still preserved by the Bugis-Makassar community in marriage. This tradition is in the form of a sum of money the groom gives the bride as a sign of appreciation and seriousness to marry her. However, the tradition of uang panai represented in the movie “Uang Panai Maha(r)l” shows a shift in value and is not based on Islamic values contained in the sources of Islamic law, namely the Al-Quran and Hadith. This study aims to analyze the content of hadith about the tradition of uang panai in Bugis-Makassar marriage customs represented in the film “Uang Panai Maha(r)l”. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a qualitative content analysis technique. The results showed that the hadiths related to marriage do not contradict the tradition of uang panai as long as they are by Islamic teachings. However, the concept of uang panai in the movie “Uang Panai Maha(r)l” is depicted excessively and contains elements of coercion. Thus, the concept of uang panai in the movie is not by the meaning of the hadith, which recommends making it easier for each other to carry out marriage and walimah. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the tradition of uang panai in Bugis-Makassar wedding customs can be justified if it is carried out by Islamic teachings, namely the recommendation of marriage, the recommendation of facilitating marriage, and the recommendation of organizing walimah. This tradition must be carried out wisely and does not contain elements of coercion. Keywords: Uang Panai, Hadith, Bugis-Makassar Wedding, Film

Abstract

The question items that have been prepared so far are more invalid than valid and the level of difficulty and form of the test given still does not vary. In addition, there are still many questions given to students that have not been tested for validity and reliability. This study aims to compile questions on Arabic language elements (sounds, vocabulary, and sentence structure) and test the question instruments in MTs S Aluppang. This research is expected to produce valid and reliable question items so that it can be used to measure the level of mastery of Arabic elements of the students of MTs S Aluppang more accurately and objectively. This study uses a quantitative approach. The preparation of question items in this study is carried out based on the stages of assessment planning according to Munip (2017). The test instrument trial was carried out for students of class VIII MTs S Aluppang totaling 13 students. The study results showed that the preparation of question items had gone through the appropriate stages and produced 10 questions for each aspect of language elements. Abstract

Arabic has an important role in global communication, including in the economic field. This is due to the rapid economic development of the Middle East which emphasizes the importance of mastering the Arabic language. One of the books that is a resource for learning Arabic for economic purposes is "Arabic Book for Special Purposes: Arabic for Economy" written by Dony Handriawan (2022) and published by Eureka Media Aksara. This study aims to analyze the quality of the book based on the 5C standard, identify aspects of the book that need to be strengthened based on the theory of the 5C standard, and provide recommendations to improve the quality of Arabic books for economic purposes. This research is literature research and uses content analysis techniques by paying attention to the instruments in the 5C standard. The results of this study show that the "Arabic Book for Special Purposes: Arabic for Economy" has met most of the standards in language teaching, especially in the aspects of communication, connections, comparisons, and communities. However, the book lacks emphasis on the cultures aspects of the Middle Eastern economy, which is an important area in learning Arabic for economic purposes. This lack of emphasis on the culture of the Middle Eastern economy is a gap between existing textbooks and international standards. Keywords: Arabic for Special Purposes, Arabic for Economic Purposes, Arabic Book Analysis, 5C Standards

Abstract

This study aims to identify the need for teaching materials loaded with local wisdom in learning Arabic reading skills in universities, with a focus on the Arabic Language Education Department at IAIN Bone. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through analysis of student profiles and characteristics, student reading preferences, observation of teaching materials used, analysis of the vision and mission of the institution, and interviews with Arabic lecturers. The results of the study show that the teaching materials used today do not fully reflect local cultural values, even though they are in accordance with students' reading preferences. Bugis folklore and legends, such as Sijello To Mampu, Putri Tadampali, and La Mellong, have great potential to be integrated into teaching materials because they contain moral messages and character values that are relevant to educational needs. In addition, the vision and mission of IAIN Bone which emphasizes local wisdom supports the importance of developing contextual and culture-based teaching materials. This study emphasizes the need to develop teaching materials that are not only interesting and relevant academically but also loaded with local wisdom to support cultural preservation and the formation of student identity. The recommendations given include the preparation of learning modules based on Bugis folklore and the use of technology to document and disseminate teaching materials.

Abstract

Although vocabulary learning is a fundamental aspect of Arabic language acquisition, it is often perceived as monotonous and ineffective, particularly in Ma’had settings where access to technological resources is limited. This study explores the implementation of a project-based learning (PBL) model using mind maps to improve Arabic vocabulary learning and examines students' responses to this pedagogical approach. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, focusing on female students at Ma’had Babul Khairat. Data were gathered through observations, questionnaires, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman's framework, which involves data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the PBL model integrated with mind maps offers an innovative and effective solution for Arabic vocabulary acquisition in resource-constrained settings. Students reported that the approach was engaging and interactive, making it easier to remember and internalize vocabulary. Additionally, the use of mind maps significantly enhanced their motivation, interest, and active participation in the learning process. The method also encouraged collaboration and creativity among students, fostering a more dynamic and student-centered learning environment. These results highlight the potential of project-based learning with mind mapping as a practical pedagogical tool in Ma’had settings. This model not only addresses the challenges of traditional vocabulary learning but also contributes to the development of innovative teaching strategies that align with the needs and preferences of students in such educational contexts

Abstract

Typographical errors in textbooks can affect students' understanding and mastery of Arabic and highlight broader issues in quality control of educational materials for Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. For instance, the Arabic textbook al-Lughah al-'Arabiyyah for sixth grade contains numerous typographical and linguistic errors, potentially hindering the learning process. This study aims to identify and analyze typographical errors in the textbook, which was developed by the Curriculum, Facilities, Institutional, and Student Affairs (KSKK) team of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method with a literature review approach and content analysis techniques. The findings reveal 28 typographical errors distributed across the material content, practice exercises, and vocabulary sections. These errors are categorized into morphology, syntax, and writing errors (kitabah). Most typographical errors involve incorrect writing of letters or diacritical marks (harakat), which may alter meanings and therefore require correction. This study underscores the importance of enhancing quality control processes in textbook development, particularly in editing and proofreading stages before publication. The findings serve as a reference for publishers to rectify errors in future editions, thereby improving the effectiveness of Arabic language learning in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah.
