Abstract

Chili pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) is an economically important horticultural crop, but its productivity in Indonesia has declined due to soil fertility degradation, excessive use of inorganic fertilizers, and unfavorable climatic conditions. This study evaluated the individual and combined effects of plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) and corn cob biochar on the growth and yield of chili pepper. A field experiment was conducted from December 2022 to May 2023 at Hasanuddin University, Makassar, Indonesia, using a split-plot design with three levels of biochar (0, 7.5, and 15 t ha⁻¹) and three concentrations of PGPR (0, 10, and 20 g L⁻¹). Data were analyzed using ANOVA followed by LSD at α = 0.05. Results indicated that neither PGPR nor biochar alone had significant effects on most growth parameters. However, their interaction significantly enhanced yield-related traits. The combination of 15 t ha⁻¹ biochar with 20 g L⁻¹ PGPR (M2P2) produced the highest fruit number (69.17 fruits plant⁻¹), fresh fruit weight (72.30 g plant⁻¹), and yield (3.62 t ha⁻¹). These findings demonstrate the synergistic role of biochar and PGPR in improving chili productivity and highlight their potential as eco-friendly inputs for sustainable chili cultivation.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine how the management of zakat collection and distribution is implemented at the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) in Bima Regency and to analyze the inhibiting and supporting factors of zakat collection and distribution at BAZNAS in Bima Regency. This study used a qualitative method with primary and secondary data sources. Primary data were obtained directly from the research object through interviews, while secondary data were used to support and strengthen the primary data. Thus, this study can obtain a more comprehensive and in-depth picture of the phenomenon under study. Secondary data sources were obtained from journals, books, reports, and other documents relevant to the research topic, to support and enrich the primary data obtained through interviews. The combination of primary and secondary data allows this study to provide a more complete and accurate picture of the phenomenon under study. The research results show that the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) of Bima Regency has developed a comprehensive zakat management system through a structured approach based on regulations, technology, and empowerment programs. The productive zakat model, with rigorous selection and ongoing mentoring, has successfully transformed mustahik into muzakki, reflecting Islamic distributive justice. However, challenges remain, ranging from low zakat literacy among the community, suboptimal coordination with the Zakat Management Unit (UPZ), to limited human resources and geographic limitations. On the distribution side, obstacles arise in the management of the still-nascent productive zakat system, the accuracy of fund allocation, and the misuse of aid. Nevertheless, BAZNAS has a strong foundation through its professional zakat collection system for civil servants (ASN), which generates Rp210 million per month thanks to the support of the Mayor's regulations. Innovations such as a digital database, a participatory approach, and simplified selection criteria demonstrate the commitment to system development. By combining existing strengths with creative solutions, BAZNAS of Bima Regency has the potential to become an effective zakat management model with a real impact on poverty alleviation.

Abstract

Mining waste management is a major challenge, resulting in water pollution, ecosystem degradation, and heavy metal accumulation. Biomining, the use of microorganisms to extract and stabilize metals, is seen as an innovative solution that is more environmentally friendly than conventional methods. This study aims to explore the perceptions of stakeholders regulators, mining companies, local communities, and academics on the application of biomining in mining waste management. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, field observations, and document reviews. Analysis was conducted manually through transcription, coding, theme grouping, and source triangulation to ensure data validity. The results show that academics and regulators have positive perceptions of biomining because it supports the principles of a circular economy and sustainable development. Local communities welcome biomining with cautious optimism, influenced by negative experiences with conventional methods, but still demand transparency and safety assurance. Conversely, mining companies are more skeptical, considering technical risks, initial investment costs, and the uncertainty of long-term profitability. The study's conclusions emphasize that the success of biomining depends on convincing technical evidence, regulatory certainty, and social legitimacy through community engagement. Triple helix synergy between government, industry, and academia is needed to accelerate the adoption of biomining technology in Indonesia.
