Abstract

Penyakit tidak menular menjadi masalah kesehatan masyarakat baik secara global maupun di Indonesia. Stunting diusia balita dapat menjadi faktor risiko penyakit tidak menular diusia dewasa. Tujuan dari pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah meningkatkan dan menguatkan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang penyakit tidak menular melalui penguatan peran keluarga sadar gizi. Pada awal kegiatan dilakukan skrining terhadap faktor risiko penyakit tidak menular, dan dilanjutkan dengan edukasi melalui metode penyuluhan menggunakan media leaflet, slide presentasi dan pemutaran media video. Hasil identifikasi yang dikumpulkan melalui survei dan pelacakan pada setiap rumah diukur 56 balita menunjukkan balita dengan status gizi buruk (Z-Score: < -3) menggunakan indeks massa tubuh sebanyak 36,5% dan gizi kurang (Z-score: (-2) -  (>-3)) sebesar 14,3%. Sebagian besar keluarga memiliki risiko akibat perilaku hidup yang tidak sehat seperti merokok, minum alkohol, tidak memiliki program olah raga, pola makan sayur dan buah dalam katagori kurang. Hasil skrining dijadikan fakta manyarakat, dengan memberikan solusi membangun keluarga sadar gizi melalui pemenuhan pola makan dengan gizi seimbang, pola hidup berolah raga, melakukan penimbangan balita setiap bulan dan melakukan identifikasi masalah gizi pada tingkat keluarga.

Abstract

This paper explains the importance of using local food from sea catch fish in Southeast Sulawesi as a source of protein and its relation to reducing stunting prevalence in children. The article's source is a literature review related to seafood and stunting in children. This study explains the shift in children's eating patterns, barriers to consuming seafood as a protein source and promoting seafood as a protein source into a sustainable nutrition program. Multisectoral cooperation will aid in reducing the prevalence of malnutrition in vulnerable groups. Recognizing local resources that can be optimized as sources of food intake for vulnerable groups is also a must to be included in program preparation. This paper is confirmed by the results of ongoing studies and observations to help ensure the right program design to reduce stunting in coastal areas.

Abstract

Potensi perikanan tangkap di perairan Indonesia memiliki peluang besar untuk mengembangkan industri produk laut dan mengurangi angka stunting, yang masih mencapai 21,6% pada tahun 2022. Konsumsi protein hewani dari hasil laut yang rendah, kurang dari 10 gram/hari, menjadi salah satu penyebab utama masalah kesehatan masyarakat ini, meskipun potensi hasil tangkapan mencapai lebih dari 10 juta ton per tahun. Potensi ini membuka peluang pasar untuk mengolah ikan seperti cakalang dan tuna, baik untuk kebutuhan lokal maupun memenuhi permintaan global yang mencapai 180,07 juta metrik ton. Kajian ini mengulas potensi sumber daya perikanan di wilayah Buton Utara sebagai upaya meningkatkan nilai ekonomi dan ketersediaan produk nutrisi berkualitas tinggi. Pengembangan produk perikanan olahan, baik dalam bentuk kering maupun awetan, dapat menjangkau pasar domestik dan internasional melalui penerapan standar keamanan pangan dan regulasi yang berlaku. Kolaborasi antara pemerintah, akademisi, kelompok nelayan, koperasi, dan organisasi non-profit menjadi kunci untuk merancang program berkelanjutan dan mengatasi hambatan di sektor perikanan. Pendekatan pengelolaan perikanan berkelanjutan, dengan penekanan pada praktik penangkapan selektif dan penentuan jumlah tangkapan optimal — yang dikenal sebagai Optimum Sustainable Yield (OSY) — memastikan keberlanjutan sumber daya laut untuk kesejahteraan masyarakat. Penerapan Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI) dalam proses pascapanen dapat meningkatkan kualitas produk, memperpanjang masa simpan, serta meningkatkan nilai ekonomi hasil tangkapan, mendukung upaya nasional dalam memperbaiki status gizi dan mendorong kehidupan masyarakat yang lebih sehat dan produktif.

Abstract

Introduction and Methods Primary dysmenorrhea is a common complaint experienced by adolescent girls, and dietary patterns are suspected to be one of the contributing factors affecting its severity. This study aims to examine the dietary habits and nutritional knowledge of adolescent girls in relation to the occurrence of primary dysmenorrhea. Specifically, it seeks to answer whether imbalanced eating patterns contribute to the severity of menstrual pain in adolescents. A quantitative study with a cross-sectional approach was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Kendari City between February and March 2024. A total of 41 adolescent girls were selected using a stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected through a menstrual pain questionnaire, a balanced nutrition knowledge questionnaire, and a Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ). Results A total of 97.6% of respondents were aged 15–16 years. The majority experienced moderate (51.2%) and mild (36.6%) dysmenorrhea. The level of nutritional knowledge was moderate (41.5%) and low (46.3%). A total of 51.2% of respondents had poor dietary patterns. Among those with mild dysmenorrhea, 66.7% had poor eating patterns; among those with controlled severe dysmenorrhea, 60% had poor eating patterns; and among those with moderate dysmenorrhea, 61.9% had moderate dietary patterns. Respondents with good nutritional knowledge mostly (80%) had moderate dietary patterns. Conclusion and Recommendations The findings indicate that inadequate nutritional knowledge and imbalanced dietary intake among most respondents—across all categories of dysmenorrhea severity—may contribute to the intensity of menstrual pain. Educational and nutritional interventions are recommended through collaborative efforts involving multiple stakeholders. Further research is needed with broader variables to explore the influence of social, economic, and cultural factors on the management of dysmenorrhea in adolescents. Contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) This study aims to explore the incidence of dysmenorrhea among adolescent girls in relation to their knowledge and dietary patterns. The article contributes to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. Specifically, it supports Target 3.4, which aims to reduce by one-third premature mortality from non-communicable diseases through prevention and treatment, and to promote mental health and well-being.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that has long-term impacts on children's health and development. A major contributing factor to the high prevalence of stunting is the low level of maternal knowledge regarding balanced nutrition and the utilization of local food sources. This community service activity aimed to empower mothers through nutrition education and local food-based cooking skills training as a preventive measure against stunting. The activity was conducted on December 25, 2023, in the working area of Bone Rombo Health Center, Kulisusu Subdistrict, North Buton Regency, involving 41 participants, including mothers of toddlers, pregnant women, and healthcare partners. The training was delivered using a participatory approach with the aid of leaflets and visual presentations. The activity outcomes were evaluated through direct pre- and post-test questions and interactive discussions led by the speaker. The results indicated a high level of enthusiasm and active participation, with approximately 80% of participants correctly answering the evaluation questions and being able to recall key tips on improving the quality of food for mothers and children. This community engagement initiative demonstrates that participatory, locally-based educational approaches can enhance maternal nutritional knowledge and skills in selecting and preparing local foods, thus supporting sustainable stunting prevention efforts.
