Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the level of knowledge of biology education students on the topic of Biopreneurship. This research uses a descriptive evaluative method, namely a study method that evaluates objective conditions or what they are in a situation that is the object of study. The analysis used is descriptive qualitative, namely research that accurately describes the nature of an individual, certain circumstances or symptoms so that they can be described thoroughly. Data collection was carried out using several techniques, namely literature studies and field observations. Biontrepreneurship is the integration of biological sciences with business sciences which involves all aspects of living things. Biopreneurship is defined as the use of living things that can be processed into business products and can be marketed, resulting in a productive economy. Seeing the importance of Biopreneurship, interdisciplinary learning began to be carried out. This is done so that students are able to combine their knowledge to apply it to solve various problems in the real world. The results of the analysis show that biology education students' knowledge on the topic of Biopreneurship is in the high category with a score of 82. Based on the level of Biopreneurship knowledge which is categorized as high, it is estimated that students will be able to design good Biopreneurship products.

Abstract

Communication skills are one of the essential abilities that teachers must possess to support their professional needs. Through good communication skills, teachers are able to convey teaching materials and various learning messages to students effectively. This research aims to determine the level of communication skills of prospective biology teacher students through microteaching. The type of this research is descriptive research. Data were collected from the entire population of fifth-semester students in the biology education program at FMIPA UNIMED in the Microteaching course. Communication skills consist of several aspects, including calmness, clarity of voice, clarity of material, and response to the audience. Based on the research results, it was found that in the aspect of calmness, a score of 72 was obtained, classified as competent; in the aspect of voice clarity, a score of 75 was obtained, classified as competent; in the aspect of material clarity, a score of 81 was obtained, classified as competent; and in the aspect of audience response, a score of 78 was obtained, classified as competent. Thus, overall, the communication skills received a score of 76, classified as competent. Abstrak. Keterampilan Komunikasi merupakan salah satu kemampuan yang wajib dimiliki guru guna menunjang kebutuhan profesionalismenya. Melalui kemampuan berkomunikasi yang baik guru mampu menyampaikan materi ajar dan berbagai pesan pembelajaran secara maksimal kepada siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat keterampilan berkomunikasi mahasiswa calon guru biologi melalui pembelajaran mikroteahing. Tipe penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan dengan populasi seluruh mahasiswa semester 5 program studi pendidikan biologi FMIPA UNIMED pada mata kuliah Mikroteaching. Kemampuan berkomunikasi terdiri dari beberapa aspek diantaranya ketenangan, kejelasan suara, kejelasan materi dan respon terhadap audiens. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa pada aspek ketenangan diperoleh nilai 72 yang diklasifikasikan sebagai cakap, pada aspek kejelasan suara diperoleh nilai 75 yang diklasifikasikan sebagai cakap, pada aspek kejelasan materi  diperoleh nilai 81 yang diklasifikasikan sebagai cakap, dan pada aspek respon terhadap audiens diperoleh nilai 78 yang diklasifikasikan sebagai cakap. Sehingga secara keseluruhan kemampuan berkomunikasi memperoleh nilai 76 yang diklasifikasikan sebagai cakap.

Abstract

The Role Playing method is an innovative learning approach designed to encourage active participation of learners during teaching and learning activities. This research is a literature study that analyzes various previous studies on the effectiveness of the Role Playing method in an effort to optimize the learning outcomes of students in the topic of the digestive system. The method used in this research is the literature study method, where data is collected through reference searches using Google Scholar. This research involved primary sources, such as research results, research reports and scientific articles, as well as supporting sources to complement the information. This study showed an increase in the average learning outcomes of students increased by around 80-90%. Thus, it was concluded that, especially in the digestive system material. Based on the results of the literature review, the Role Playing method is proven to be an effective teaching strategy in improving students' understanding of digestive system material. This method provides opportunities for learners to play an active role by acting out various parts of the digestive system, so that they can understand concepts more deeply through direct experience.

Abstract

Pemahaman istilah latin dalam biologi, khususnya materi Pewarisan Sifat, sering menjadi kendala bagi siswa dalam memahami konsep genetika secara menyeluruh. Istilah seperti dominant, recessive, homozygous, dan heterozygous sering kali sulit dibaca, dipahami, dan diingat, sehingga berpotensi menghambat proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor utama yang menyebabkan kesulitan siswa dalam membaca istilah Latin pada materi Pewarisan Sifat. Dengan menggunakan metode studi literatur dan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif, penelitian ini mengidentifikasi empat faktor utama penyebab kesulitan, yaitu (1) kompleksitas istilah dan konsep genetika yang bersifat abstrak, (2) metode pembelajaran yang kurang variatif dan masih berbasis hafalan, (3) keterbatasan media pembelajaran yang interaktif dan kontekstual, serta (4) rendahnya motivasi dan minat belajar siswa terhadap Biologi. Hasil penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya inovasi dalam strategi pembelajaran, seperti pemanfaatan media digital interaktif, pendekatan berbasis pengalaman, serta metode diskusi dan eksperimen. Implementasi strategi yang lebih kontekstual dan menarik diharapkan dapat meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap istilah Latin Biologi serta memperkuat pemahaman mereka dalam bidang genetika.

Abstract

Efektivitas proses pembelajaran atau belajar merupakan suatu kegiatan yang sangat dibutuhkan oleh semua manusia untuk mengetahui sesuatu atau untuk melakukan sesuatu. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan media pembelajaran video animasi dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi pustaka dengan menganalisis 11 artikel yang relevan dan difokuskan pada efektivitas penggunaan media video animasi terhadap hasil belajar siswa pada pembelajaran biologi. Media animasi merupakan salah satu alat bantu pembelajaran yang dapat memvisualisasikan materi. Melalui penerapan media animasi, proses pembelajaran akan lebih interaktif karena media tersebut menampilkan gambar yang dapat bergerak dan menghasilkan suara. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah penggunaan media pembelajaran video animasi dalam pembelajaran biologi sangat berpengaruh dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar biologi siswa. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari peningkatan hasil belajar siswa yang semakin meningkat ketika penggunaan media pembelajaran video animasi berlangsung.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menyelidiki pengaruh model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw terhadap hasil belajar siswa dalam mata pelajaran biologi. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya hasil belajar siswa dalam mata pelajaran biologi, yang disebabkan oleh metode pembelajaran yang monoton dan kurang melibatkan siswa secara aktif. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pengaruh model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw terhadap hasil belajar siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah literature review, yaitu dengan meninjau secara kritis berbagai literatur yang relevan dengan topik penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Model ini mendorong siswa untuk aktif, berkolaborasi, dan saling membantu dalam memahami materi pelajaran. Kesimpulannya, model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw dapat menjadi strategi pembelajaran yang efektif untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa dalam mata pelajaran biologi.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using microteaching books based on case method and team based project on basic teaching and communication skills. The type of research is development to produce a product and test the effectiveness of that product. The population is all 5th semester students of the biology education study program, FMIPA Unimed who take the microteaching course, the test sample is 30 students. The research design uses the Plomp development model, namely Analysis, Development, and Evaluation. Data collection is carried out at the analysis stage, then the development stage includes the distribution of assessment sheets to experts and response sheets to lecturers and students in the microteaching course. Meanwhile, the evaluation stage is carried out using observation sheets to assess basic teaching skills and communication skills. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and then categorized following the guidelines for categorizing needs, assessments, responses and communication skills. The results obtained indicate that the microteaching book is declared valid, has a fairly good level of practicality, and is effective in improving basic teaching skills and communication skills

Abstract

This study used an ex-post facto research methodology with a descriptive approach to assess the learning habits of biology education students at Universitas Jambi in regards to 'Work Method' and 'Delay Avoidance'. The study demonstrated similar levels of proficiency (satisfactory), with 'Work Method' scoring a 75.00% and 'Delay Avoidance' slightly reaching a score of 75.70%. These data indicated that there is a dependable yet enhanceable basis in learning habits. The study highlights the need of employing educational practices that promote organized learning and efficient time management, with the goal of enhancing students' learning habits and academic progress.

Abstract

This research investigates the effectiveness of integrating folklore narratives into biology education within higher education as a pedagogical strategy to enhance scientific literacy and conceptual understanding. The study explores how folklore-based learning can improve students’ comprehension of core biological concepts, including ecology, genetics, and biodiversity, by connecting abstract scientific principles to relatable cultural contexts. Through the analysis of various folklore traditions and their implicit biological principles, this study demonstrates the potential of these narratives to bridge the gap between theoretical biology and real-world applications. An experimental study was conducted to evaluate the impact of folklore-based instruction on student learning outcomes compared to traditional teaching methods. Results indicate significant improvements in student engagement, critical thinking skills, and conceptual understanding of biology among higher education students exposed to folklore-integrated lessons. This approach not only promotes cultural awareness and appreciation for traditional knowledge but also stimulates scientific discourse and problem-solving abilities. This study advocates for the incorporation of local folklore into science curricula within higher education to enrich student learning experiences and foster a deeper, more nuanced understanding of biology and its societal relevance, ultimately contributing to improved scientific literacy.
