Abstract

This study aims to determine the feasibility of plant propagation encyclopedias through tissue culture that has been validated by material experts, media experts and by instructional design experts. This research is a Research and Development (R&D). This research model is a 4-D model modified to 3-D consisting of 3 stages, namely defining, designing, and developing. In this study, the instrument used was a questionnaire filled out by material experts, instructional design experts and media experts. From the results of the research that has been done, the results are: (1) Based on the results of the assessment by the material experts, the learning resources developed are stated to be feasible with an average percentage score of 81.3%; (2) Based on the results of the instructional design expert assessment, the learning resources developed were stated to be very feasible with an average percentage of sekor 95.4%; (3) Based on the results of the assessment of media experts, the learning resources developed are stated to be very feasible with an average percentage score of 96%.

Abstract

The limited accessibility of digital educational game resources on the topic of viruses in the public domain poses a significant challenge that must be addressed. The primary objective of this research is to determine the validity of the RPG maker MV based game, followed by an assessment of its practicality. The research used Lee Owens as the development model. The result of this study is the produced RPG maker MV-based game, focused on virus material. The validity of the game has been confirmed through product validation conducted by experts in the discipline, achieving an average percentage of 96.63% (highly valid) from material experts, 93.07% (highly valid) from media experts, and 80.71% (valid) from biology teacher practitioners. The practicality of the RPG maker MV-based game was then demonstrated by small-scale trials, yielding an average performance rate of 93% (an exceedingly captivating product), and large-scale trials, yielding an average performance rate of 94.3% (an exceedingly captivating product).

Abstract

This study aimed to delineate the learning style profile of class XI IPA 2 students during biology lessons at Madrasah Aliyah Raudlatus Syabab Sukowono. The research was conducted at Madrasah Aliyah Raudlatus Syabab, located at Jl. KH. Ahmad Syukri No. 02, Sumber Wringin, Kec. Sukowono, Kab. Jember, East Java. This study employs a quantitative descriptive approach. This research techniques involve collecting, recording, presenting, and verifying data. The participants in this study consisted of students from class XI IPA 2 and teachers specializing in Biology. The purposive sampling approach is used for selecting subjects or data sources. The data collection methods employed in this research comprise interviews, questionnaires, observation, and documentation. The research findings indicate that the predominant learning style among students studying biology at Madrasah Aliyah Raudlatus Syabab Sukowono Jember is visual, with 7 individuals (50%) exhibiting this style. This is followed by kinesthetic, with 4 individuals (29%), and auditory, with 3 individuals (21%). Teachers should possess the ability to establish a varied educational setting and integrate learning techniques that encompass the utilization of visuals and graphics, verbal explanations and discussions, as well as experiments and physical activities in order to cater to the diverse learning styles of students.

Abstract

The use of advanced instructional technologies is essential for improving students' critical thinking skills and conceptual understanding, especially in environmental science. Digital escape room games, combined with e-books, offer an engaging and interactive learning experience that can significantly improve student outcomes in higher education settings. This study aimed to evaluate the validity and practicality of a digital escape room-assisted e-book for improving these skills among UIN KHAS Jember students. Using the ADDIE development model (Branch, 2009), the research assessed content validity and practicality through expert validation and trials. Content experts rated the e-book at 93.6% (very valid), while design experts rated it at 94.7% (very valid) for instructional media quality. In the individual trial, the e-book received a 91.9% score (very appealing), followed by a 94.1% score in the small group trial, and a 95.8% score in the field trial, both also categorized as very appealing. These results indicate that the digital escape room-assisted e-book is both highly valid and practical for use in environmental science course.

Abstract

Biology education is essential for enhancing students' comprehension of intricate scientific topics and their practical applications. However, conventional teacher-centered approaches at MAN 2 Probolinggo City have led to diminished student involvement and inadequate cognitive learning outcomes, especially for the human respiratory system topic. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of the Make a Match learning model, supplemented with picture card media, in enhancing cognitive learning outcomes for 11th grade students. A quasi-experimental design with a posttest-only approach was employed, involving 36 students in the experimental group and 36 in the control group, where both groups had equivalent initial learning outcomes based on their teacher-assigned scores. Independent sample t-test results showed a statistically significant improvement in the experimental group (M=89.11,SD=6.093) compared to the control group (M=83.78,SD=6.339), p=0.001. The Make a Match model enhanced by the use of picture card media promoted active engagement, collaboration, and visual learning, with the visual representations of respiratory organs and their functions significantly aiding comprehension of the system's intricate concepts. The findings highlight the model's potential as a dynamic instructional method that can improve cognitive learning outcomes.

Abstract

Understanding the diverse cognitive abilities of students is essential for improving teaching strategies, particularly for pre-service biology teachers. This study examines the learning styles and multiple intelligences of second-year students enrolled in the Tadris Biology program at UIN Kiai Haji Achmad Siddiq Jember during the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic years. A descriptive quantitative research design was used, with data collected through structured questionnaires assessing learning styles and multiple intelligences. The study found that the majority of students exhibited a visual learning style (52%, n=72), followed by kinesthetic (25%, n=34) and auditory learners (23%, n=32). In terms of multiple intelligences, spatial-visual (17.4%, n=24) and logical-mathematical (16.7%, n=23) intelligences were the first and second most dominant, followed by musical (13.8%, n=19) and bodily-kinesthetic (13.8%, n=19) intelligences. These results suggest that the majority of pre-service biology education students rely on visual and kinesthetic modalities for learning, while their cognitive strengths are primarily in spatial-visual and logical-mathematical intelligences. This distribution highlights the need for instructional strategies that integrate visual representations, hands-on activities, and structured problem-solving tasks to support their dominant learning preferences.

Abstract

The conservation of rivers in West Panyabungan District, is of utmost importance due to their significance as a vital water source for daily activities and their significant impact on people's livelihoods. The objective of this study is to examine the endeavours and advantages of ecological preservation utilising the indigenous knowledge of the Lubuk Larangan River by the inhabitants of West Panyabungan, North Sumatra. This study employs a descriptive qualitative methodology. The data utilised consists of primary data collected by field research, specifically through field observations, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions. Key informants refer to prominent individuals within the community, including traditional elders, village officials in the surrounding area, managers of Lubuk Larangan, and members of the surrounding community. The research employed data analysis approaches: data collecting, data condensation, data presentation, and the derivation and validation of conclusions. The technique used for data validity assessment is the triangulation of sources and techniques. The research findings indicate that environmental preservation in Lubuk Larangan is achieved through the continuation of traditional practices that have been passed down through generations, collaborative efforts to implement and safeguard these practices, and the implementation of local wisdom to protect the village environment.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh lembar kerja peserta didik berorientasi sains, lingkungan, teknologi, dan masyarakat terhadap hasil belajar kognitif siswa pada materi pencemaran lingkungan. Penelitian ini berjenis eksperimen semu dengan menggunakan desain one group pretest-posttest design. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas MAN 2 Jember, Jawa Timur tahun ajaran 2021/2022. Kelas yang dipilih sebagai sampel menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling, yaitu kelas X IPA 5. Instrumen tes yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah soal esai berjumlah 10 soal dengan teknik skoring 1-5. Hasil uji beda Mann Whitney pada skor pretest dan posttest hasil belajar kognitif siswa didapatkan signifikansi sebesar .000 (<0.05). Rata-rata posttest hasil belajar kognitif siswa (84.14) lebih besar daripada pretest hasil belajar kognitif siswa (44.25). Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah pembelajaran materi pencemaran lingkungan memanfaatkan lembar kerja peserta didik berorientasi sains, lingkungan, teknologi, dan masyarakat memberikan pengaruh peningkatan hasil belajar kognitif siswa.

Abstract

Minat belajar siswa merupakan faktor penting dalam keberhasilan proses pembelajaran. Namun hasil observasi di MA Ma`arif Ambulu masih terdapat masalah terkait minat belajar siswa, khususnya pada materi Fungi yang ditunjukkan melalui siswa yang berbicara sendiri, ada yang bermain HP yang tidak ada keperluan dalam pembelajaran, kurang aktif bertanya, terkadang tidur saat pembelajaran, serta belum tersedianya media pembelajaran digital yang mendukung materi yang bersifat abstrak. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan kevalidan, kepraktisan, dan keefektifan media pembelajaran digital Google Sites berbasis inkuiri terbimbing pada materi Fungi untuk meningkatkan minat belajar siswa kelas X di MA Ma`arif Ambulu Jember. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan Research and Development dengan model Lee & Owens (2004) yang meliputi 5 tahap yaitu analisis, desain, pengembangan, implementasi, dan evaluasi. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa angket, observasi, dan wawancara. Hasil validasi dari ahli media dengan rata-rata 95,31% (sangat valid), validasi ahli materi dengan rata-rata 90,62% (sangat valid), validasi ahli evaluasi angket minat belajar dengan rata-rata 100% (sangat valid). Sedangkan respon guru biologi dengan rata-rata 89,34%(sangat valid), dan rata-rata angket respon siswa diperoleh rata-rata 80,55% (menarik). Keefektifan produk diperoleh dari hasil Uji T-Test dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000 dan nilai N-Gain yaitu sebesar 0,61 yang dikategorikan efektif. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa media pembelajaran digital Google Sites dikategorikan sangat valid, praktis, dan efektif dalam meningkatkan minat belajar siswa.

Abstract

Penelitian pendahuluan melalui wawancara bahwa siswa kelas X SMAS Argopuro Panti Jember memiliki keterampilan proses sains dan hasil belajar yang tergolong rendah. Penyebabnya dapat disebabkan karena keterampilan proses sains yang belum pernah diukur sehingga siswa belum pernah dilatih proses sainsnya seperti jarang dalam berdiskusi terkait konsep-konsep sains yang melatih siswa dalam mencapai sikap ilmiah. Siswa juga mengalami kesulitan dalam menerapkan keterampilan proses sains pada materi daur biogeokimia yang membahas proses-proses abstrak. Pada studi awal juga menemukan nilai rata-rata siswa pada mata pelajaran biologi masih di bawah KKM yaitu 75. Penemuan tersebut menandakan bahwa pada sub materi daur biogeokimia masih butuh dioptimalisasikan, salah satunya dengan penggunaan model pembelajaran. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah: 1) Untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Guided Discovery Learning terhadap keterampilan proses sains siswa pada sub materi daur biogeokimia kelas X SMAS Argopuro Panti Jember Tahun Ajaran 2024/2025. 2) Untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Guided Discovery Learning terhadap hasil belajar kognitif siswa pada sub materi daur biogeokimia kelas X SMAS Argopuro Panti Jember Tahun Ajaran 2024/2025. Metode penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian Pre Eksperiment dengan bentuk penelitian Posttest Only Control Group. Instrumen Pengumpulan data pada variabel keterampilan proses sains menggunakan tes essay dan hasil belajar kognitif menggunakan tes pilihan ganda. Sampel dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari dua kelas yaitu kelas X A sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas X B sebagai kelas eksperimen dengan jumlah 59 siswa. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik cluster random sampling. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji Mann Whitney U-test dan uji Independent Sample T-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) Terdapat perbedaan keterampilan proses sains yang signifikan setelah diajarkan model pembelajaran Guided Discovery Learning dengan nilai signifikansi 0,011 lebih kecil dari nilai signifikansi 0,05 sehingga H01 ditolak dan Ha1 diterima. Dengan demikian adanya pengaruh model pembelajaran Guided Discovery Learning terhadap keterampilan proses sains siswa pada sub materi daur biogeokimia kelas X SMAS Argopuro Panti Jember. 2) Terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar kognitif siswa yang signifikan setelah diajarkan model pembelajaran Guided Discovery Learning dengan nilai signifikansi 0,011 lebih kecil dari nilai signifikansi 0,05 sehingga H02 ditolak dan Ha2 diterima. Dengan demikian terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran Guided Discovery Learning terhadap hasil belajar kognitif siswa pada sub materi daur biogeokimia kelas X SMAS Argopuro Panti Jember.
