Abstract

This study aims to describe the development of digital comic media based on fable stories as a means of improving the speaking skills of elementary school students. The background of this research is the low interest and participation of students in speaking during Indonesian language learning due to the limitations of learning media that are interesting and according to student characteristics. The research used a descriptive qualitative approach with observation, interview, and documentation techniques, conducted on third grade students in one of the elementary schools in Kudus Regency. The media was developed by inserting fable stories that are educational, fun, and contain moral values. The results showed that this media was able to increase student involvement individually and in groups. Students became more confident in expressing opinions, telling stories, and discussing. Teachers also benefited because the media was practical and relevant to the teaching materials. The media received a positive response and was considered suitable for use in learning. Fable-based digital comics are an innovative alternative in learning Indonesian, especially in improving students' speaking skills, and have the potential to be developed at other levels and subject matter.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of using the local legend “The Origins of Kudus City” as a learning medium to improve reading skills in elementary school students. This legend was chosen for its three unique features: first, it contains the historical narrative of Sunan Kudus, rich in Islamic-Javanese acculturation values; second, it has strong geographical relevance to students’ daily lives in Kudus; third, it presents potential for character visualization and cultural settings that are engaging for early-age readers. The study aims to analyze the influence of local legends on students’ reading development. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted by analyzing seven relevant articles sourced from academic databases such as Google Scholar, DOAJ, and Scopus. The inclusion criteria focused on reading skills, elementary school students, learning media, and the legend of Kudus City. The results indicate that illustrated storybooks based on local legends can significantly enhance reading comprehension, increase student motivation, and encourage active classroom participation. Additionally, this learning media enables the integration of local cultural values into the educational process, making learning more contextual and meaningful. Thus, illustrated storybooks based on the legend of “The Origins of Kudus City” are proven effective as an innovative learning tool that not only strengthens reading skills but also preserves local wisdom in elementary education.

Abstract

The increasing involvement of childern in criminal activitties highlights the urgent need for character education to develop future generations with strong moral integrity. This study explores the use of the Legend of Ajisaka as a medium for instilling character values and as a tool for social control. Using a qualitative library research method, the study analyzes narrative elements, symbols, and characters in the Serat Manikmaya version of the Ajisaka legend. The analysis reveals seven of the eighteen character values outlined by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture, including religiousness, honesty, hard work, creativity, patriotism, social care, and responsibility. Among these, religiousness and creativity appear most prominently, depicting Ajisaka as both a spiritual and innovative figure. The findings suggest that the legend can effectively convey moral messages, strengthen cultural identity, and serve as an instructional resource in elementary school character education. The study emphasizes the dual function of folklore in not only shaping individual character but also reinforcing social norms within communities.

Abstract

Education at the elementary school level plays a fundamental role in shaping students’ character and literacy skills during their golden age of growth. However, strengthening noble character and improving literacy, especially reading interest and comprehension of stories, still face challenges so that students do not feel bored. Facing this phenomenon, the synergy between Indonesia’s as a source of moral values and local wisdom, and digital comics as a visual medium that is popular and effective in attracting reading interest, offers great potential. The folktale “Mouse Deer, the Bear, and the Secret Forest” contains relevant moral messages, while digital comics can presnt it in an interactive and easily understandable format for students. This research aims to deeply examine the potential synergy between folktales (case study “Mouse Deer, Bear, and the Secret Forest” and digital comic learning as an effective stimulus in strengthening character education and improving literacy among elementary school students. Using a qualitative approach, this research will explore how the integration of these two media can be implemented and its impact on instilling character values through the moral messages in the story, as well as developing literacy skills through an engaging visual-verbal format for students. It is hoped that this learning model can be an innovative alternative solution in achieving the goals of character edutation and literacy in elementary schools.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan mendeskripsikan gangguan fonologis yang dialami oleh tokoh Banyu, seorang remaja autis dalam film Dancing in the Rain. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan analisis deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan melalui dokumentasi dan transkripsi dialog Banyu, yang kemudian dianalisis berdasarkan teori fonologi, termasuk aspek segmental dan suprasegmental. Sumber data utama adalah film Dancing in the Rain, di mana peneliti melakukan observasi mendalam terhadap seluruh dialog yang melibatkan tokoh Banyu. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi berulang untuk mendeteksi gangguan fonologis seperti distorsi bunyi, kesulitan intonasi, dan penggunaan echolalia. Analisis data dilakukan dengan pendekatan analisis wacana dan linguistik pragmatik untuk menggali pola gangguan yang muncul. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Banyu mengalami gangguan dalam bentuk distorsi konsonan dan vokal, pengulangan fonem yang tidak wajar, serta penggunaan intonasi yang tidak sesuai konteks, yang menghambat efektivitas komunikasi dan interaksi sosialnya

Abstract

The growth of digital technology and social media platforms has promoted intercultural communication, especially in second language acquisition by non-native speakers. This study examines phonological deviations in the Indonesian pronunciation of SunnyDahye, a South Korean influencer who frequently uses the language in her TikTok content. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected from five purposively selected videos based on the clarity of audio and frequency of Indonesian usage. The analysis focused on segmental (consonants and vowels) and suprasegmental (intonation and stress) features using the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). Findings reveal notable instances of phonological interference, including the substitution of the alveolar trill /r/ with /l/, mispronunciations of the schwa vowel /ə/ replaced with /e/ or /a/, and flat intonation patterns influenced by Korean prosody. These deviations are rooted in the phonological system of the Korean language, which lacks certain Indonesian phonemes and prosodic features. The results emphasize the influence of first language phonology on second language articulation and underscore the importance of incorporating contrastive phonetic analysis in Bahasa Indonesia instruction for foreign learners. The study contributes to broader discussions in applied linguistics and second language pedagogy, particularly for the Indonesian for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) program.

Abstract

Kudus City, which is rich in history and culture, has various legends that can be used as interesting learning resources. The purpose of this study was to determine the use of legends in improving elementary school students' literacy with the method used in this study is the Systematic Literacy Review (SLR). The use of sacred urban legends in learning can improve students' reading and improve their understanding of local cultural and historical values. In addition, this activity encourages students to get discussions and creative activities such as storytelling and art. Therefore, using legends as teaching materials not only improves literacy, but also builds a sense of love for local culture. This study recommends the integration of sacred urban legends into the elementary school curriculum as an effort to improve the quality of education and conservation of local culture. The results of this study indicate that the use of legends to help elementary school students become more literate is a successful strategy

Abstract

This study investigated pronunciation errors in early childhood when singing the song “Burung Kakatua”. The purpose of this study was to identify, classify and analyze phonological errors that occurred based on the theory of generative phonology. The research method used was descriptive qualitative research with data collection techniques in the form of observation and recording, on four children aged 2-5 years. Based on the results of the study, the most common pronunciation errors were phoneme substitution (pronunciation of consonant /r/ to /l/), omission of consonant clusters, and phoneme errors in polysyllabic words. Phonological analysis revealed that these errors were related to the development of the child’s speech organs and the complexity of sounds in the song. This study contributes to our understanding of language acquisition and phonological development in early childhood and provides educational implications for educators and parents who help children acquire correct pronunciation through song media.

Abstract

The Pati Ayam Site in Kudus Regency is one of the important cultural heritages that represents past civilization in Central Java. The purpose of this study is to explore the cultural values ​​contained in the Pati Ayam Site and the right approach to introduce it to Generation Z using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, by reviewing various previous studies related to cultural preservation, involvement of the younger generation, and the potential of historical sites as educational media. The results of the study indicate that a social media-based approach and participatory activities can be an effective bridge in increasing awareness and involvement of Generation Z towards local cultural heritage. Thus, the preservation of the Pati Ayam Site is not only a form of historical conservation, but also a relevant educational tool for the current generation.

Abstract

Cerita rakyat yang bersifat legendaris pada umumnya diyakini kebenarannya oleh masyarakat umum. Dengan menerapkan nilai-nilainya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari dapat menciptakan lingkungan yang positif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji dan mengidentifikasi kajian pustaka mengenai efektivitas penggunaan buku cerita rakyat dalam pembelajaran literasi dan keterampilan menyimak pada siswa SD melalui metode kolaborasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan konsep riview dari beberapa jurnal atau yang biasa dikenal dengan metode SLR (Systematic Literature Review). Metode ini berfokus pada subjek siswa sekolah dasar kelas 2. Teknik pengumpulan data diperoleh dengan mencari berbagai sumber studi pustaka pada google scholar. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan mencari semua studi pustaka menurut kata kunci. Ada 7 studi pustaka yang merupakan hasil pembahasan penelitian ini. Berdasarkan kajian pustaka yang telah dianalisis, diperoleh hasil bahwa pemilihan media yang kreatif dalam proses pembelajaran seperti buku cerita bergambar penting dalam meningkatkan minat baca siswa dan metode yang efektif dapat menarik perhatian siswa sehingga mau mengikuti pelajaran dari awal sampai akhir, sehingga dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menyimak siswa. Dengan demikian, seorang guru harus memperhatikan unsur-unsur pendukung agar tercapai tujuan pembelajaran yang optimal.
