Abstract

Following the epidemic, there has been a growing desire to travel and an acceleration of information technology development. As a result, several new words started to appear in society. Jargon is the phrase for the newly coined word. Numerous studies have examined jargon terms using a range of variations in their goals, approaches, and media sources. Previous research has shown that jargon words have been explored by many scholars across online platforms, newspapers, and social media. This research aims to discuss the type of jargon word-formation processes used in ticket reservations. This research is based on the Yule theory. This research is qualitative descriptive, which yields descriptive data. Data have been collected by listening and conversation, verbal or non-verbal, and written text between customers and other staff of Air India. The researcher identified six types of jargon in the word formation process used in ticket reservation: acronym, compounding, clipping, initials, derivation, and multiple processes.

Abstract

In learning English, speaking ability is essential aspect, especially for teachers, especially pronunciation. Implementation in the classroom, the teacher is expected to be a good facilitator and motivator with the hope that later students will have the ability to communicate smoothly and their enthusiasm for learning will continue to increase. One teaching method that can be applied is Communicative Language Teaching (CLT). The purpose of this research to increase the teacher's motivation, creativity, exploration of the teacher's English communication skills. Besides that, through this teaching method it is hoped that it can add new experiences for teachers. This research is classroom action research conducted at the Daar El-Nayl Cilebut Islamic Boarding School, Bogor. There are a total of 4 teachers, they are the objects in this study. Data collection was carried out by observing and recording the value of each research stage. The results of the study showed that there was an increase in the ability to communicate in the pronunciation of English vocabulary which could be seen from the increase in the average score.

Abstract

The phrase "Gen-z" refers to the generation born between 1997 and 2012. This generation has a global mindset and sees technology as their fundamental necessity. In other words, Gen-Z already outperforms the previous generation in terms of ICT/ICT skills. However, not all of the archipelago's Gen Z are yet proficient in navigating the digital age. Furthermore, the abilities required to become a competent individual include more than just being qualified to utilize ICT. As a result, today's youth must be capable of critical thinking and problem solving, as well as communication, teamwork, and creativity. According to the facts on the ground, many young people still do not comprehend the four soft skills and do not recognize the necessity of possessing the soft skills known as the 4C talents. This community service intends to introduce these 4C abilities and how crucial they are for the generation living in the twenty-first century, the digitalization century.The results of this Community Service are, (1) students of MAN 2 Kampar-Riau understand critical thinking and problem solving, communication, collaboration, and creativity skills, (2) students improve their 4C skills, (3) Students able to implement these 4 skills in their daily lives since they got enlightened about the knowledge from the given PkM, (4). Another goal of this PkM is to create the younger generation, especially Gen Z, who are aware of the massive changes in this digital era, are digitally savvy and encourage them to think critically and be able to solve problems, communicate well and effectively, collaborate with teams, be innovative and creative.

Abstract

Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini untuk memberikan sosialisasi pemanfaatan aplikasi lnshot; memudahkan para guru di era revolusi industri 5.0 terutama dalam proses desain bahan ajar secara daring; dan memberikan pengalaman desain bahan ajar yang baru kepada para. Kegiatan ini menggunakan aplikasi lnshot. Metode pelaksanaan Program Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM) yakni berbentuk pengenalan, pelatihan/praktik, pendampingan dan evaluasi. Dengan menggunakan aplikasi inshot proses desain bahan ajar dinilai lebih menarik guru mendapatkan hal baru setelah pelatihan singkat ini. Dari hasil tersebut dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa masih perlunya sosialisasi dan pelatihan secara intensif kepada para guru tentang penggunaan aplikasi inshot sebagai aplikasi video yang mudah bagi guru. Pengenalan aplikasi ini diharapkan tidak hanya diperkenalkan kepada guru di lingkungan SMPN 3 Setu saja, tapi juga bisa diperkenalkan kepada guru lintas sekolah lainnya. Namun, tentunya hal ini membutuhkan kerjasama dari berbagai pihak untuk mewujudkan kegiatan ini. Oleh karena itu, kerjasama dengan pihak terkait merupakan bagian dari rencana tahapan berikutnya bagi tim pelaksana dalam rangka memperkenalkan aplikasi inshot ini di setiap sekolah yang membutuhkan.

Diharapkan pada akhirnya Guru mendapatkan kemudahan dalam pembelajaran literasi yang dibuat secara daring. Kegiatan ini menggunakan platform. Metode yang akan digunakan dalam pelaksanaan Program Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM) yakni berbentuk pengenalan, pelatihan/praktik, pendampingan dan evaluasi. Dengan menggunakan platform meme membuat kegiatan berliterasi lebih menarik dan memikat peserta didik. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa media baru untuk literasi seperti meme dapat menjadi alat yang efektif untuk melestarikan dan menyebarkan nilai-nilai budaya, pendidikan, ekspresi diri bahkan promosi lembaga. Selain itu, kegiatan ini juga meningkatkan kesadaran akan adaptasi ke digital terhadap perkembangan zaman yang terus berlari dengan cepat di kalangan generasi muda yang merupakan penerus bangsa. Pengenalan platform ini diharapkan tidak hanya diperkenalkan terbatas kepada guru di lingkungan SKB, namun juga bisa diperkenalkan kepada guru lintas sekolah lainnya. Hal ini membutuhkan kerjasama dari semua pihak untuk mewujudkan kegiatan ini. Oleh karena itu, kerjasama dengan pihak terkait merupakan bagian dari rencana tahapan berikutnya bagi tim pelaksana dalam rangka memperkenalkan platform ini di setiap sekolah yang membutuhkan. The aim of this community service activity is to provide socialization on the use of meme applications; make it easier for teachers in the era of society 5.0, especially in the process of memes for online literacy and provide new experiences to teachers who ultimately find it easier to learn literacy online. This activity uses a platform. The methods that will be used in implementing the Community Partnership Program (PKM) are in the form of introduction, training/practice, mentoring and evaluation. Using the meme platform makes literacy activities more interesting and captivates students. The results of this activity show that new media for literacy such as memes can be an effective tool for preserving and spreading cultural values, education, self-expression and even institutional promotion. Apart from that, this activity also increases awareness of digital adaptation to developments that continue to run rapidly among the younger generation as the future leader. It is hoped that the introduction of this platform will not only be introduced to teachers in the SKB environment, but also be introduced to teachers across other schools. This requires cooperation from all parties to make this activity a reality. Therefore, collaboration with related parties is part of the next stage plan for the implementation team in order to introduce this platform in every school that needs it.

Abstract

Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk memberi pemahaman mengenai penggunaan mendeley dalam artikel ilmiah pada dosen fakultas teknik ITBU. Dengan pengenalan ini para dosen diharapkan dapat memberi pemahaman mengenai penggunaan aplikasi mendeley dalam artikel ilmiah secara komprehensif dan terlibat aktif dalam penulisan penelitian dengan sesama rekan dosen, mahasiswa dan semua  pihak yang terkait. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan ini dibagi ke dalam tiga langkah pelaksanaan kegiatan (workshop): (1) practical guidelines and tips on how to write at national accredited journal,(2) introducing mendeley, and (3) practice of mendeley ini diharapkan dapat menambah pengalaman belajar yang baru bagi para dosen. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini mayoritas para dosen dapat informasi dan pengetahuan baru mengenai aplikasi pengutipan dan sitasi mendeley ini. Dampak positif dirasakan oleh para dosen dari kegiatan pelatihan yang diselenggarakan dengan tujuan memudahkan penulisan pengutipan dan sitasi pada artikel ilmiah. Antusiasme yang positif dan rasa ingin tahu para dosen ditunjukkan secara interaktif selama kegiatan pelaksanaan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini berjalan dengan lancar sesuai dengan harapan serta terjalin komunikasi yang baik antara pihak mitra dengan tim pelaksana.Kata Kunci: jurnal bereputasi, mendeley, karya ilmiah Mendeley: Citation in Writing Scientific Articles in Reputable JournalsABSTRACTCurrently, some lecturers have not been able to make citations automatically using the application. This can be seen from several articles published in journals. One application that makes it easier to write citations internationally is Mendeley. The purpose of this community service activity is to provide an understanding of the use of Mendeley in scientific articles for ITBU engineering faculty lecturers. With this introduction, lecturers are expected to provide an understanding of the use of the Mendeley application in scientific articles in a comprehensive manner and to be actively involved in research writing with fellow lecturers, students and all related parties. The method of implementing this activity is divided into three steps of implementing activities (workshops): (1) practical guidelines and tips on how to write at a national accredited journal, (2) introducing mendeley, and (3) practice of mendeley is expected to add to the learning experience new to the lecturers. The results of this community service activity are the majority of lecturers get new information and knowledge about this Mendeley citation and citation application. The positive impact was felt by the lecturers from the training activities held with the aim of facilitating the writing of citations and citations in scientific articles. The positive enthusiasm and curiosity of the lecturers were shown interactively during the implementation activities. The abdimas activities run smoothly as expected and good communication is established between the partners and the abdimas team.Keywords: reputable journal, Mendeley, scientific work

Abstract

The aims of this research were to find the type of category shift, and quality assessment of noun phrase translation in the novel Divergent. Based on theory Catford (1965). Also, theory Nababan (2012) for quality assessment. This research used a descriptive–qualitative method. To achieve the aims of this study, the researcher used some techniques to analyze the data such as reading and collecting data, underlining the type of category shift in the text of the novel, categorizing types of translation shift, assessing translation accuracy, assessing translation readability and acceptability. Based on the data analysis, it was found that 92% of the data were accurate because the category shift of noun phrase in the target language has equivalent meaning with the source language; 6% of the data were less accurate because the category shift of noun phrase had no equal meaning with the source language and the equivalence seemed less natural, and 2% of the data were not accurate. Meanwhile, 93% of the data were readable because the translation was very easy to understand; 5% of the data were less readable because the translation was not very easy to understand, and 2% of the data were unreadable because the translation was difficult to understand. Furthermore, 92% of the data were acceptable because the translation sounds natural; the words, phrases, clauses, and sentences of the source text, 6% of data were less acceptable, and 2% of data were not acceptable. The dominant data of category shift are the structure shift which got the percentage of 56%, followed by intra-system shift 32%, class shift 8%, and unit shift 4 %.
