Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to determine the effect of reflective journal writing activity along with corrective feedback on student academic performance in dynamic fluid subject on eleventh grade Pontianak State Senior High School 8. The research method used was an experimental method with quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design. Intact group random sampling technique was used to select samples from XI MIPA in Pontianak State Senior High School 8, and XI MIPA 4 was chosen as the experimental class while XI MIPA 3 as the control class. Academic performance data were taken using 25 multiple choice questions. Direct instruction learning models are used in both classes, with students in the experimental class given reflective journals (including exercises) as assignment which are accompanied by corrective feedback, while students in the control class are only given the exercises as assignment. Student scores in experimental class at pretest and posttest had average of 27.07 and 64.27, while in control class are 27.73 and 52.13. Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) U-test (? = 5%) shows that there is a significant difference (0,001) in the posttest scores of students in experimental and control classes, with Cohen?s effect size d value of 1.02 (high category). Keywords: Reflective Journal, Corrective Feedback, Academic Performance, Dinamic Fluids

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to improve student learning outcomes by applying the science-physics inquiry learning model on the subject of motion. The form of this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR) which was carried out in 2 cycles with stages of planning, action, observation and reflection. Subjects in this study were students of class VII H Pontianak 23 Public Middle School consisting of 30 students. Data collection through tests, observation sheets and documentation. The results showed the average post-test value of cycle I was 76 and cycle II was 87. The completeness of learning outcomes in cycle I was 50% while in cycle II was 86.7% meaning that there was an increase in learning outcomes by 36.7% of the cycle I to cycle II. As for the results of observations made, obtained data is that after the inquiry learning model is applied the learning process becomes more active. The results of this study indicate that the application of inquiry learning models on the subject of motion can improve student learning outcomes. This research is expected to be used as an alternative teacher to improve science-physics learning outcomes in the subject of motion. Keywords: learning outcomes, application of inquiry learning models, research subjects discussion of motion

Abstract

AbstractThis research was aimed to known effectiveness the SQ3R reading technique to remediate students? misconceptions on solar system in SMP Negeri 4 Pontianak. Sample of this research was students? from 7th grade (N=32). Diagnostic test which consisted 10 three tier multiple choice test used to known students? conceptions. Based on the result of data analysis found the average decrease of students? that misconceptions after being given remedial learning equal to 33%. The result of McNemar test shown there was significant conceptual change  (?2hitung = 51,17; df = 1; ? = 0,05). The average of gain value was ?g?=0,58 (medium). It is expected that SQ3R reading technique can be used as an alternative remediation activities to overcome students? misconceptions. Kata Kunci: Miskonsepsi, Remediasi, SQ3R, Tata Surya

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to analyze the multi-representation errors of students in solving straight motion kinematics problems at SMKN 1 Sintang. The research method used is descriptive comparative. A total of 65 grade X students of SMKN 1 Sintang who were taken intact from the population were included as the study sample. Data collection techniques used in this study are written measurement techniques and direct communication techniques (interviews). This study found the average percentage of errors of multi-representation students in solving straight motion kinematics problems by 84%. There were no significant differences in multi-representation errors among high, medium and low ability students. This study also found the cause of multi-representation errors, namely students are not accustomed to using multiple representations in solving problems, low understanding of concepts and forgetting concepts in the material. Seeing these problems, the teacher needs to give problem training and train students to use multi-representation in learning, especially when solving questions and providing motivation to students both inside and outside the learning activities. Keywords: Multi-representation Error Analysis, Solving Problem, Straight Motion Kinematics

Abstract

AbstractThis study aimed to improve the learning outcomes of class X students of SMA 5 Pontianak through inquiry learning using the experimental method. The form of research carried out in the form of a pre-experimental design with the design of one group pretest-posttest. This study involved 37 students of class X IPA 5 in SMA 5 Pontianak through a purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was made in the form of RPP, LKPD and description tests totaling 8 questions representing three indicators. The results of the study showed that there was an increase in student learning outcomes by 88.6%, from 34.84 to 65.76 is calculated from the average value of the pretest and posttest. Meanwhile, the results of effectiveness calculations using effect size show a significant difference of 1.85 with a high category. This shows that the application of the inquiry model is able to improve student learning outcomes in the measurement material so that the application of inquiry learning models is feasible to be considered as an alternative in an effort to improve student learning outcomes. Keywords: Inquiry Model, Learning Outcomes, Measurement.

Abstract

AbstractThis study aimed to determine the average level of ability of students in solving High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) according to Bloom's Taxonomy the results of the revision, namely C4, C5 and C6 and know the mistakes made in resolving the matter of HOTS by using the troubleshooting steps Heller. This research is a descriptive qualitative research with the use of test and interview as data collection method. The subject in this research amounted to 97 students that is all students of class XI MIA SMA Negeri 2 Sungai Raya. The results obtained by stating that the average ability of learners to solve the problems HOTS by 14 %. With the average level at each level of cognitive at the level of kogniti C4 by 10%, C5 by 19% and C6 by 12%, all of which are included in the category of very low. Interviews conducted to know about the HOTS difficulties in completing the matter of HOTS based on the troubleshooting steps Heller stated the average learners are able to in the activities understand the problem, but are less able in the activity make a plan or design of a problem-solving strategy, carry out the calculation, and re-examine the correctness of the results or solutions. Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan model pembelajaran learning cycle dalam meremediasi miskonsepsi siswa kelas VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Pontianak pada pokok bahasan tekanan zat cair. Metode yang digunakan berupa pre experimental design dengan rancangan one group pretest posttest design. Instrumen dalam pengumpulan data berbentuk pilihan ganda tanpa alasan yang diujikan pada 29 orang siswa yang dipilih secara intact group. Hasil analisis data diperoleh persentase rata-rata miskonsepsi yang dialami siswa pada saat pretest 63,18 % dan pada saat posttest 24,13%. Hasil uji Mc Nemar diperoleh tabel (3,84) lebih besar dari hitung untuk dk = 1 dan α = 5% maka secara keseluruhan terjadi perubahan konseptual yang signifikan dan harga proporsi penurunan jumlah miskonsepsi diperoleh nilai 0,62 (kategori sedang). Maka remediasi menggunakan model pembelajaran learning cycle efektif untuk menurunkan jumlah miskonsepsi siswa. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif melaksanakan remediasi miskonsepsi siswa tentang tekanan zat cair. Kata kunci: Efektivitas, Remediasi, Learning Cycle Abstract: This study aims to find out the effectiveness of Learning Cycle Model in remediating students’ misconception for Grade VIII students of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Pontianak in the topic about Liquid Pressure. The method used is pre-experimental with one group pretest posttest design. The data collecting instrument was a multiple choice test without explanation, which was tested to 29 students sampled by using intact group. The result shows that the students’ average misconceptions in the pretest and posttest are 63,18% and 24,13% respectively. Mc Nemar test obtained X2table (3,84) bigger than X2 count for dk = 1 and α = 5%, therefore, overall there is a significant conceptual improvement and the proportion value of the decreasing number of misconceptions is 0,62 (moderate). As the result, remediation by using the Learning Cycle Model is effective to decrease the number of students’ misconceptions. This study is expected to be used as an alternative way of implementing remediation to the students’ misconceptions on liquid pressure. Keywords: Effectiveness, Remediation, Learning Cycle

Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this research is to analyze the student’s mistake make in answering questions about the kinetic theory os gas and finding the cause of the mistake. The method of this research was descriptive method. Essays dan interviews were the tools of data collection which were given to upper, medium,and lower level students. Sample of this research was 23 students 11th grade of SMAN 1 Kendawangan. The result showed that the kind of mistakes were unit mistake (59,13%), formula mistake (19,56%), count mistake (26,14%). Students often make mistake in deciding the unit because they were not careful, in rush and they cooperate as well. On the other hand, students made mistake in counting because they were not careful and in rush. Abstract

AbstractThis pre-experimental study aims to investigate the implementation of the delay feedback strategy using video tutorials to remediate students' misconceptions of parabolic motion material in Seponti 1 High School.  The sample of this study was the students of 11th grade Science 1  who were selected using the intact group technique based on the class with the lowest learning outcomes (pre-test).  A diagnostic test consisting of 20 multiple choice questions with open reasoning is used as a research instrument to determine students' conceptions.  Based on the results, the highest number of students' misconceptions at pre-test (95.23%) and post-test (38.09%) is on the concept of analyzing the time (t) of free fall simultaneously with different trajectories.  The average decrease in the number of students' misconceptions per concept was 41.36%.  Students' conceptions changed significantly (; ; ) after being given remediation learning. The price of the proportion  that the students obtained was 0.516 (classified as medium).  Delay feedback strategies using video tutorials are expected to be used as an alternative to remediation activities to improve students' misconceptions. Keywords: Delay Feedback Strategies, Misconceptions, Parabolic Motion, Remediation, Video Tutorials

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas pembelajaran learning cycle 3E dalam meremediasi miskonsepsi siswa pada materi fluida statis di MAN Sintang. Bentuk penelitian yang digunakan adalah pre-experimental design dengan rancangan one group pre-test post-test design. Sampel penelitian ini ialah siswa kelas XII IPA 1 yang terdiri dari 24 orang yang dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Berdasarkan hasil, profil miskonsepsi siswa tertinggi saat pre-test yaitu pada konsep tekanan hidrostatis (58,3%). Sedangkan profil miskonsepsi siswa tertinggi saat post-test yaitu pada konsep terapung dan melayang (33,3%). Penurunan rata-rata miskonsepsi tiap indikator soal adalah 41,2%. Berdasarkan perhitungan, diperoleh effect size cohen’s rata-rata sebesar 2,06. Maka  remediasi  menggunakan pembelajaran  learning cycle 3E  efektif  untuk  memperbaiki miskonsepsi siswa pada materi fluida statis. Model learning cycle 3E dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif untuk meremediasi miskonsepsi yang dialami oleh siswa. Kata Kunci: Remediasi, Miskonsepsi, Learning Cycle 3E , Fluida Statis Abstract: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the 3E learning cycle in remediating students’ misconceptions in static fluid material at MAN Sintang. This study was a pre-experimental design with one group pre-test post-test. The Sample of this research was students of XII IPA 1 consisting of 24 students selected by purposive sampling technique. Based on the results, the highest students’ misconceptions in pre-test was that the concept of hydrostatic pressure (58.3%). While the highest students’ misconceptions during the post-test was that the concept float and drift (33.3%). The average decrease of misconceptions for each indicators were 41.2%. Based on the obtained calculation, the average Cohen's effect size is 2.06. Therefore, remediation using 3E learning cycle was effective to improve students’ misconceptions in the static fluid. The learning model cycle 3E can be implemented  into use as an alternative to remediate the misconceptions experienced by students.
