Abstract

Non-timber forest products (NTFPs) have long been integral to the livelihoods of rural communities, providing essential resources for food, medicine, income, and cultural practices. Despite their importance, the role of NTFPs in improving rural welfare is often underexplored in scientific research. Understanding their contribution is critical for sustainable development and rural poverty alleviation. This study aims to assess the role of NTFPs in the livelihoods of rural populations, exploring their economic, social, and environmental significance. It further seeks to identify the challenges and opportunities surrounding the sustainable use of these resources. The research adopts a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative interviews with local communities and quantitative data collection through surveys. Fieldwork was conducted in selected rural areas where NTFPs are a key resource. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. Findings reveal that NTFPs significantly contribute to household income, particularly in communities with limited access to formal employment. They also play a vital role in maintaining cultural practices and providing food security. However, overharvesting and inadequate policy frameworks threaten their sustainability. NTFPs are crucial for rural livelihoods, but their continued availability depends on effective management strategies that balance economic needs with environmental conservation. Policy interventions should focus on promoting sustainable harvesting practices and supporting local communities in managing these resources.

Abstract

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) has gained increasing attention as a critical component of holistic education that supports students’ academic success, well-being, and interpersonal competence. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of cooperative learning strategies in developing students’ SEL competencies within classroom settings. A quasi-experimental mixed-methods design was employed involving an experimental group exposed to structured cooperative learning activities and a control group receiving conventional instruction. Quantitative data were collected using standardized SEL questionnaires measuring self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making, while qualitative data were obtained through classroom observations and reflective student responses. The findings reveal significant improvements in overall SEL competencies among students participating in cooperative learning, with the strongest gains observed in relationship skills and social awareness, followed by self-management and responsible decision-making. Observational data corroborate these results by demonstrating enhanced peer interaction, emotional regulation, and a more supportive classroom climate. The study concludes that cooperative learning provides authentic social contexts that enable students to practice and internalize SEL competencies through structured interaction and shared responsibility. The novelty of this research lies in its integrative perspective that positions cooperative learning not only as an academic instructional strategy but as a deliberate and sustainable approach to SEL development embedded in everyday classroom practice.

Abstract

The growing body of research on creativity has traditionally highlighted its positive contributions to innovation and problem-solving, yet recent studies suggest that creativity may also facilitate unethical behavior. This study investigates the “dark side” of creativity by examining how creative potential and creative self-efficacy relate to morally questionable decision-making in organizational contexts. The research aims to clarify whether creativity inherently increases individuals’ capacity to rationalize misconduct or whether situational factors moderate this relationship. A mixed-method design was employed, combining a quantitative survey of 312 employees from diverse professional sectors with qualitative vignette-based interviews to probe moral reasoning processes. The findings indicate that higher creativity scores correlate with greater justification of rule-bending behaviors, particularly when individuals perceive ethical norms as ambiguous or organizational climates as permissive. However, creativity did not uniformly predict unethical actions; rather, the effect was contingent upon motivational orientations and moral disengagement tendencies. The study concludes that creativity is a dual-edged construct—capable of generating both adaptive and maladaptive outcomes—highlighting the need for ethical scaffolding in creative work environments. These insights contribute to a more nuanced understanding of creativity beyond its celebrated positive dimensions.

Abstract

A significant academic debate exists on whether youth social media engagement is slacktivism (replacement) or a gateway (mobilization) for traditional offline political participation. The field lacks empirical clarity on the specific mechanisms linking different types of online actions to offline behaviors. study aimed to: (1) empirically test the replacement versus mobilization hypotheses by disaggregating online behaviors, and (2) analyze the mediating role of political efficacy in the online-to-offline participation pathway. quantitative, cross-sectional survey was conducted with a nationally representative sample of 1,500 youth (aged 18-29). Data were analyzed using hierarchical linear regression and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The replacement hypothesis was refuted; no negative relationships were found. Low-cost “Expressive” participation (clicktivism) was a weak, non-significant predictor. “Organizational” online participation (e.g., creating content, coordinating groups) was the strongest, most significant predictor (\beta = .48, p < .001) of offline action. The SEM confirmed this link is powerfully mediated by political efficacy. slacktivism debate is resolved by this disaggregation. The study’s contribution is a refined mobilization model: high-effort “Organizational” online labor, not low-effort “Expression,” builds the political efficacy that drives offline activism.
