Abstract

Agricultural waste generated from the crop production process can be a valuable resource if managed properly. The use of microorganisms in the treatment of agricultural waste has proven effective in improving soil fertility. Bacteria, fungi, and actinomycetes are examples of microorganisms that can make organic matter more easily digested by humans. The objective of this study was to analyze the role of microorganisms in agricultural layers and their moisture in relation to soil fertility. The findings of this study show that the use of microorganisms in agricultural composting and fermentation processes increases the amount of nutrients in the soil, improves soil structure, and increases its microbiological activity. Abstract

This research was conducted at Malaga Beach, Siwalu Banua II Village, Gunungsitoli Idanoi District, Gunungsitoli City, North Sumatra Province, with the aim of determining the feasibility of beach tourism objects from the limiting factors of the Tourism Suitability Index Value (IKW). This research was carried out for 1 month, namely from the beginning of March to the beginning of April 2021. The method used in this research was the purposive sampling method. The analysis parameters used are depth, beach type, beach width, bottom water material, current speed, beach slope, water brightness and beach land cover. Based on the results of observations, it shows that the Malaga Beach tourist attraction has good potential because it has a wide sand beach and has not big waves. The research results show that the Tourism Suitability Index (IKW) value is 58.16% and is classified as S3 (Conditionally Suitable) level of suitability. This value provides information that the tourist attraction is in the appropriate category conditionally for the feasibility of its development. The condition for the development in question is the appropriate use of potential, namely the potential width or breadth of the beach as well as the presence of shady pine and palm trees by creating comfortable shelters such as tourist tents, gazebos, children's toys. Thus, Malaga Beach, Siwalu Banua II Village, Gunungsitoli Idanoi District, Gunungsitoli City, North Sumatra has good potential to be developed into a recreational tourism and children's play location, but is not suitable for swimming tourism.

Abstract

Silkworms (Tubifex sp.) are one of the leading natural feeds that are rich in protein, essential amino acids, and fats, and have a body size suitable for consumption by fish larvae. However, its limited availability and fluctuating quality are challenges in fish hatchery activities. This study aims to optimize the direct cultivation of silk worms in tarpaulin ponds with a field experiment approach, in order to increase the quantity as natural feed. The research was conducted at Ceria Group, Tugalagawu Village, Sirombu Sub-district, West Nias Regency, from May 27 to June 15, 2025. The methods used included the use of mud media enriched with organic materials such as bran and tofu pulp, and fermentation with EM4 to increase nutrient availability. Environmental parameters such as temperature (26-28°C) and pH (6.8-7.2) were controlled during the rearing period. The results showed that organic fermentation media was able to increase worm biomass to 80-120 g/m² with a harvest efficiency of 75%. The worms produced had visual quality and nutritional content suitable as larval feed, with potential protein content of 55-60% and fat content of 13-15%. This study concludes that local fermentation-based cultivation techniques can increase the efficiency of silk worm production while supporting natural food self-sufficiency at the coastal community level.

Abstract

Feed is an important factor in cultivating catfish (Clarias sp.), which affects the survival and growth of fry. Catfish growth is greatly influenced by feed quality, including nutrition, digestibility and feed utilization. Fermented feed is one of the innovations developed to improve feed quality. Fermented feed has become an attractive alternative to improve feed quality and growth efficiency. This article aims to explore the effect of fermented feed on the survival and growth of catfish fry by reviewing various previous studies. The method used is a literature review by collecting research results from various published scientific articles. The research results show that the use of fermented feed in catfish cultivation can increase growth, digestibility and feed efficiency. Further research is needed to explore optimal dosage and composition.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendokumentasikan dan mengevaluasi proses pemijahan ikan lele (Clarias gariepinus) secara alami melalui praktik langsung di lapangan bersama Kelompok Budidaya Ceria di Desa Tugalagawu, Kecamatan Sirombu, Kabupaten Nias Barat. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif, dengan pendekatan observasi partisipatif dan wawancara lapangan. Pemijahan dilakukan tanpa induksi hormon, menggunakan kolam terpal, ijuk sebagai media penempel telur, serta penambahan daun ketapang sebagai penstabil pH alami. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa dari empat ekor induk betina, diperoleh total telur sebanyak ±8.925 butir dengan tingkat pembuahan ±70% (sekitar 6.247 telur terbuahi), dan tingkat penetasan ±65% (sekitar 4.061 larva menetas). Meskipun masih berada di bawah standar literatur, hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa pemijahan alami dapat berhasil jika didukung oleh pemilihan induk yang tepat dan pengelolaan lingkungan yang baik. Penggunaan daun ketapang terbukti membantu menurunkan pH dan mencegah infeksi telur. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa optimalisasi pemijahan alami berbasis kearifan lokal dapat menjadi strategi berkelanjutan bagi pembudidaya ikan air tawar.
