Abstract

Mining is a two-edged sword, which makes a positive contribution to the economy but has a negative impact in the form of environmental degradation. Reclamation is a step taken in restoring former mining land to provide sustainable social, economic, and environmental benefits. This requires an early understanding of reclamation for the younger generation as agents of change. This community service activity aims to provide socialization about the concept, urgency, and practice of mine reclamation to students of Senior High School Number 19 Palembang as a form of environmental education towards sustainable mining. The methods used include interactive presentations and joint discussions. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in students' understanding of the issue of mine reclamation, as well as high enthusiasm and active participation in the entire series of activities. This activity contributes to fostering ecological awareness among students, as well as a form of collaboration between higher education institutions and schools in supporting sustainable development in the mining sector. The development of a collaborative-based follow-up program is needed so that this environmental education can take place continuously.

Abstract

Acid mine water management can be carried out by active treatment and passive treatment. Acid mine water management in PT. Bara Prima Pratama is carried out with an active method by liming. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of the composition of a mixture of fly ash and quicklime as much as 0.30 grams on the pH and TSS parameters of acid mine water. The neutralization process is carried out on a laboratory scale using experimental methods with the addition of fly ash coagulant and quicklime in 9 test variations. Significant pH changes with an initial pH of 3.3 occurred at dose variations of 10:90 (1st try, pH 8.1), 20:80 (2nd try, pH 7.9) and 30:70 (3rd try, pH 7.6). This shows that to neutralize the pH requires a greater dose of quicklime in the composition of the mixture (quicklime can increase the pH value quickly). Furthermore, TSS testing was also carried out 9 times with an initial TSS value of 123 mg/L. After neutralization was obtained, the TSS value continued to increase in proportion to the composition carried out (test 9, TSS value 219 mg/L) but still met environmental quality standards with a threshold value of 400 mg/L. This shows that the use of fly ash and quicklime does not have a major effect on TSS changes.

Abstract

Coal mining has positive impacts in the form of increasing the national economy and people's income. However, it also has negative impacts, including the decrease of environmental quality such as air, soil, and noise, as well as the potential for spontaneous combustion. The research was conducted to assess the technical and economic aspects of environmental management at coal stockpiles in the Tarahan Port Unit of PT Bukit Asam Tbk to support environmental sustainability. The technical assessment of stockpile environmental management was carried out by comparing observation results with the Environmental Management and Monitoring Plan Document (RKL/RPL) and Indonesia’s applicable Environmental Quality Standards. The economic assessment focused on the cost of environmental monitoring and management by observing the discrepancies between the planned and realization in the first and second quarters. The technical assessment results show that environmental management at the stockpile has been implemented effectively. Air quality parameters and noise levels remain below the established standards, soil quality is classified good as indicated by vegetation growth, and no spontaneous combustion occurred during the observation period. The economic assessment revealed a discrepancy of 2.02% between the planned cost of IDR 121,183,548 to the actual realization of IDR 123,641,668. This increase was attributed to the construction of a dust reduction system and an operational chimney for the 2X8 MW Steam Power Plant, through the use of Electrostatic Precipitators. The study recommends a detailed inventory of environmental cost plans and potential cost escalation to anticipate risk factors. It also highlights the need for regular maintenance of machines that are known to frequently produce emissions. These efforts are expected to reduce the emissions and lower the costs of environmental management and monitoring.

Abstract

The environmental issues that usually arise from mining activities are ex-coal mining lands in the form of mine pits (void) and land (non void) which are not managed properly. The company has an obligation to manage ex-coal mining land so that the environment remains sustainable and benefits the community by carrying out reclamation activities. Reclamation of ex-coal mining land by planting oil palm provides benefits in the form of incomes and as a carbon assimilator. This study aims to analyze the economics value of the ex-coal mining land use as a carbon assimilator by using the extended NPV analysis method. The result of analysis revealed a positive extended NPV value of IDR. 1,961,057,020,-, which means that ex-coal mining land can provide positive benefits as a carbon assimilator.

Abstract

Pasir silika merupakan salah satu bahan baku yang digunakan untuk industri kaca pengaman dengan kadar 99 % berdasarkan Standar Nasional Indonesia untuk industri kaca pengaman. Kadar SiO2 di Indonesia belum mencapai standar dalam industri kaca pengaman dimana rata-rata 90% sehingga perlu dilakukan proses pengolahan terhadap feed pasir silika untuk meningkatkan kadar SiO2. Penelitian bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh faktor - faktor seperti lebar lubang umpan, lama waktu feed dan kecepatan putar magnet terhadap kualitas pasir silika, menganalisis kualitas pasir silika pada feed sebelum dilakukan pemisahan dengan alat magnetic separator; dan menganalisis kualitas pasir silika yang dihasilkan sesuai dengan Standar Nasional Indonesia industri kaca pengaman. Analisis peningkatan kualitas pasir silika melalui proses pengolahan menggunakan alat magnetic separator dengan variasi lebar lubang umpan yang digunakan 10 cm, 15 cm, dan 20 cm; variasi waktu feed yang digunakan 1 menit, 1,5 menit, dan 2 menit; variasi kecepatan putar magnet yang digunakan 100 rpm, 200 rpm, dan 300 rpm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil kadar SiO2 tertinggi dengan mengggunakan variasi lebar lubang umpan 10 cm, lama waktu feed 2 menit, dan kecepatan putar magnet 100 rpm yaitu dengan kadar konsentrat SiO2 sebesar 99,85% dan nilai recovery sebesar 82,12%.

Abstract

Sungai Batang Palangki merupakan sungai yang terletak di Kecamatan IV Nagari di Kabupaten Sijunjung Provinsi Sumatera Barat. Di Sungai tersebut terdapat beberapa aktivitas penambangan emas yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat setempat. Setelah dilakukan pengamatan langsung, air sungai tersebut tampak keruh, begitupun juga dengan sumur-sumur warga yang berada dekat dengan aliran Sungai.  Data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini terdiri dari pH, TDS, EC, dan Hg pada 3 lokasi penelitian yaitu hulu sungai, tengah sungai, hilir sungai, sumur warga 1 dan sumur warga 2. Data yang telah didapatkan akan diolah dan disesuaikan dengan baku mutu lingkungan yang telah ditetapkan oleh Peraturan Pemerintah no. 22 tahun 2021 dan Kepmen LH no. 202 tahun 2004. Tujuan penelitian ini melakukan pemetaan sebaran kualitas air Sungai. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebaran peta kualitas air sungai dan air sumur untuk setiap parameter telah memenuhi batas baku mutu perairan kecuali pada bagian tengah sungai dengan parameter konduktivitas listrik yang telah melampaui batas baku mutu perairan. Untuk kadar pH berkisar antara 6,4-7,2, kemudian untuk kadar Hg memiliki kadar yang rendah yaitu < 0,001 mg/l utuk semua titik sampel, selanjutnya untuk nilai TDS memiliki rentang nilai dari 33-159 mg/l, sedangkan untuk nilai konduktivitas listrik berkisar antara 64-318 µ/cm. Semua titik sampel telah memenuhi baku mutu, kecuali pada bagian tengah sungai telah melampaui baku mutu yaitu nilai konduktivitas listrik yang terlalu tinggi dengan nilai 318 µ/cm.

Abstract

PT. Sayang Ibu Sejati bergerak di bidang pertambangan bahan galian Pozolan (Trass) dan mempunyai wilayah Izin Usaha Pertambangan (IUP) sebesar 4,95 Ha. Pada kegiatan penambangan alat gali-muat dan alat angkut yang digunakan yaitu Excavator Komatsu PC 200 dan Dump Truk Hino 500. PT. Sayang Ibu Sejati bekerja sama dengan PT.Semen Padang untuk memenuhi kebutuhan bahan baku pencampur semen dengan target 10.000 Ton/bulan. Namun, PT. Sayang Ibu Sejati hanya memproduksi 4.922,98 Ton per tiga bulan nya, dikarenakannya banyaknya hambatan yang terjadi seperti hujan, pekerja yang tidak disiplin dalam bekerja, kondisi alat yang rusak, dan lain-lain. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah agar target produksi pada PT. Sayang Ibu Sejati berjalan secara optimal, sehingga tercapainya target yang diinginkan oleh PT. Semen Padang. Dilakukan analisis produktivitas menggunakan perhitungan Match Factor (MF). Perhitungan faktor  ketersediaan alat  gali-muat  Excavator Komatsu  PC 200  diperoleh nilai Mechanical Availability (MA) sebesar 94%, Physical Availability (PA) sebesar 97%,  Use  of  Availability  (UA)  sebesar  51%  dan  efisiensi kerja  sebesar  50% dengan waktu kerja efektif 119 jam/bulan. Untuk alat angkut Dump Truck Hino 500 nilai Mechanical Availability (MA) sebesar 87%, Physical Availability (PA) sebesar 89%, Use of Availability (UA) sebesar 53% dan efisiensi kerja sebesar 48% dengan waktu kerja efektif 120 jam/bulan. Didapatkan produktivitas aktual alat gali-muat sebesar 5.726,28 ton/bulan dengan waktu kerja efektif sebesar 119 jam/bulan dan efisiensi kerja yaitu 36% dan untuk alat angkut sebesar 3.967,2 ton/bulan dengan waktu kerja efektif sebesar 120 jam/bulan dan efisiensi kerja 36%. Diperoleh nilai keserasian alat gali-muat dan alat angkut sebesar 0,68 dan menunjukkan nilai Match Factor (MF) < 1 yang berarti alat gali-muat dan alat angkut tidak bekerja 100%.

Abstract

Kegiatan penambangan terbuka di Pit “Athran”, Kalimantan Timur, menghasilkan material buangan dalam jumlah besar sehingga memerlukan desain out pit dump (OPD) yang stabil dan aman. Variasi litologi Formasi Warukin dan Formasi Dahor yang terdiri dari batupasir, batulempung, batubara, serta material lepas memengaruhi perilaku geoteknik dan potensi ketidakstabilan lereng. Penelitian ini menganalisis kestabilan lereng OPD S2 menggunakan metode Janbu sebagai pendekatan utama karena sesuai untuk material non-kohesif dan heterogen. Beberapa skenario desain diuji melalui pemodelan numerik dengan mempertimbangkan kondisi air tanah, beban lalu lintas alat berat, serta variasi elevasi dan jenis material timbunan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan variasi nilai faktor keamanan (FK), mulai dari kondisi kritis (FK 1,161), nearly stable (FK 1,220), hingga sangat stabil (FK 1,48). Desain paling aman dicapai pada konfigurasi 3 bench dengan ketinggian maksimal 30 m, penggunaan material lebih kompak pada toe, serta penghindaran water ponding. Rekomendasi ini menjadi acuan teknis untuk meningkatkan keselamatan dan efisiensi operasi penimbunan di OPD S2 Pit “Athran”.
