Abstract

From an Islamic perspective, the phenomenon of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) has become a controversial issue in social and religious studies. In Islamic history, LGBT behaviour is often associated with the story of the Prophet Luth people who were punished for their actions. On the other hand, modern human rights emphasise the im-portance of non-discrimination against LGBT people. This study examines hadiths related to LGBT and their relevance in the social and legal context in Indonesia. This study used a qualitative approach with a library research method, collecting data from primary sources such as prophetic traditions, and secondary sources such as books of interpretation, aca-demic journals, and scientific articles. The results show that the traditions related to LGBT have variations in Sanad and Matan, which shows differences in opinion regarding its validity among hadith scholars, causing differences in the interpretation of Islamic law. Many scholars classify LGBT behaviour as prohibited, although there are differences in the punishments given. The novelty of this research lies in the in-depth analysis of LGBT-related traditions by considering aspects of Islamic law and human rights in the Indonesian context. The academic implication of this study is that it provides new insights into the-matic hadith studies, particularly in response to contemporary social issues, particularly LGBT with Islamic law.

Abstract

Western colonization of the Islamic world from the 16th century to the mid-20th century is a historical phenomenon that had a profound impact on the socio-political, economic and cultural order of Muslims. This study aims to critically examine the dynamics of Western colonization and the various forms of political resistance that emerged in the Islamic world as a response to colonial domination. Using a historical-comparative approach, this study traces the diverse patterns of struggle, ranging from armed jihad, elite diplomacy, to social and intellectual movements that later shaped national consciousness and religious identity in various Islamic regions. The study reveals that the struggle for independence of Muslim countries was not only a political effort against foreign rule, but also a process of reconstructing cultural and religious identities that played an important role in the formation of post-colonial nation-states. The study also highlights how the legacy of these struggles has strategic relevance in facing the challenges of neocolonialism, political fragmentation and foreign intervention in the contemporary era. In addition, this study affirms the importance of the role of Muslims in building the future of civilization that is inclusive, sustainable, and based on Islamic spiritual and social values. The findings are expected to provide a comprehensive conceptual and historical contribution in understanding the relationship between colonialism, political resistance and religious identity in the Islamic world.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of the “Love-based Curriculum” initiated by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia through the perspective of the prophetic hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The research focuses on identifying, classifying, and analyzing hadiths that represent the values of love for God (ḥablum minallāh), love for fellow human beings (ḥablum minannās), love for the environment, and love for the homeland. Employing a qualitative approach through a library-based study, this research applies the method of takhrīj al-ḥadīth, followed by sanad and matan criticism to assess the authenticity of the hadiths utilized. This study is conducted to address the existing gap in the development of Islamic education curricula that explicitly draw upon prophetic traditions as primary sources of educational values. The findings reveal that out of 54 identified hadith, the majority are classified as ṣaḥīḥ (authentic) and are appropriate to serve as normative foundations for formulating a value-based curriculum centered on love. These traditions demonstrate a strong correlation with the values of tolerance, empathy, ecological responsibility, and national spirit. The results underscore the urgency of integrating prophetic teachings into the design of an Islamic education curriculum that is more holistic, transformative, and humanistic. A hadith-based Love Curriculum holds substantial potential in shaping a learning ecosystem that not only fosters intellectual excellence but also cultivates moral integrity, strengthens social harmony, and promotes the development of a robust national character.

Abstract

Character education has become an important issue in the global education system, especially in the modern era characterized by rapid social, technological, and cultural changes. This study aims to explore the integration of moral values derived from the hadith of Prophet Muhammad in strengthening character education in the contemporary education system. A qualitative research method was used with a literature study approach and content analysis of hadiths related to character education, such as honesty, justice, empathy, responsibility, and humility. The results showed that hadith as the second source of Islamic teachings after the Qur'an, contains universal values that are relevant to forming noble individual characters. These values include honesty, compassion, justice, patience, and care for the environment, all of which can be integrated in the modern education curriculum. This research confirms that hadith-based character education is able to answer the challenges of moral degradation in the era of globalization, while offering practical solutions in building a young generation with integrity, social responsibility, and noble character. The implications of this research include the development of a hadith-based character education model, increasing the capacity of educators in teaching moral values, and collaboration between schools, families, and communities in strengthening character education. The integration of values from the hadith into the contemporary education system is a strategic step in creating a harmonious, just and civilized society.

Abstract

Scrapping menstrual blood stains is prescribed as a way to purify clothing contaminated by menstrual blood. This research explores the rulings on scraping menstrual blood stains from the perspectives of female ulama and intellectual in South Sulawesi, viewed through the lens of maʻānī al-hadīth. This study employs a qualitative library research approach, utilizing maʻānī al-hadīth. Data is gathered from hadith collections that discuss the practice of scraping menstrual blood stains. Interviews were conducted to gain additional perspectives from ulama and intellectuals in South Sulawesi. The results indicate that a contextual analysis of hadith reveals an injunction to purify clothing affected by menstrual blood, specifically by scraping off the residue adhering to the fabric. According to the ulama and intellectuals of South Sulawesi, a contextual understanding of hadith related to scraping menstrual blood stains permits the use of cleaning agents, such as detergents, to maximize efforts to clean stains or menstrual blood that adheres to the fabric. Furthermore, if the stain is irremovable, the fabric or clothing may be used for prayer, demonstrating a leniency in religious practice. In the context of maʻānī al-ḥadīth, a textual understanding can create a rigid legal character, potentially diminishing the universal message of the hadith, while a contextual approach can reveal substantive values that remain relevant in modern society.
