Abstract

The increasing availability of large-scale health data has created opportunities for using data mining to support evidence-based decision-making and public health policy development. This narrative review aims to describe the role of data mining in identifying public health priorities, supporting healthcare decision-making, facilitating program planning and evaluation, and strengthening evidence-based health policies. Relevant literature published between 2024 and 2026 was identified through searches of the Scopus and PubMed databases using keywords related to data mining, machine learning, predictive analytics, health policy, decision-making, and public health. Eligible articles were selected based on their relevance and synthesized narratively. The findings indicate that data mining techniques, including machine learning, predictive analytics, classification, clustering, and knowledge discovery, are widely used to identify disease patterns, high-risk populations, healthcare needs, and to support resource allocation and program evaluation. These approaches improve the targeting of public health interventions and strengthen evidence-based policy development. However, challenges related to data quality, interoperability, privacy protection, and model interpretability remain. Strengthening data governance and analytical capacity is essential to optimize the use of data mining in public health.

Abstract

Extreme environments across land, sea, and air domains expose individuals to challenges such as hypoxia, extreme temperatures, pressure changes, isolation, and physical and psychological stress that may affect health and performance. Human adaptation to these conditions involves complex interactions among biological, psychological, social, and spiritual dimensions. However, adaptation mechanisms are often examined separately, requiring a more comprehensive understanding. This study aimed to review human adaptation mechanisms in extreme environments and their implications for military medicine, preventive medicine, occupational health, and operational settings. This study employed a literature review approach to identify, analyze, and synthesize scientific evidence regarding human adaptation mechanisms in extreme environments. The review included original research articles and relevant scientific reports discussing biological, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects among human populations. Only full-text articles in English or Indonesian were included. Biological adaptation includes ventilation regulation, erythropoiesis, thermoregulation, and cardiovascular-respiratory adjustments. Psychological adaptation through coping strategies and emotional regulation reduces stress, while communication, team cohesion, and leadership support social adaptation. Spirituality enhances meaning, hope, and resilience. Human adaptation in extreme environments is a multidimensional process requiring a holistic biopsychosocial-spiritual approach to improve preparedness, health, and resilience among individuals and groups.

Abstract

In Indonesia, soil-transmitted worm infestation remains a serious public health problem, especially for young children. The high incidence of worms increases the risk of stunting, anemia, and malnutrition in children. Prevention efforts are hampered by low public awareness and the belief that worms are not a serious disease. The objective of this community service project is to educate mothers of toddlers and Integrated Health Post cadres about worm prevention. Counselling and health education through booklets are among the techniques used at integrated health post Kemuning A, Ratu Jaya Community Health Center. Participants in this activity consisted of 17 mothers of toddlers and 9 cadres from the integrated health post. On December 17, 2025, the activity was carried out through counselling, discussions, and a question-and-answer session. The results of a qualitative evaluation showed that mothers' awareness of risk factors and how to prevent worms had increased, as had the cadres' knowledge, awareness, and confidence in educating the community. It was concluded that by using Integrated health post-based education strategies, this program succeeded in empowering the community to prevent worms in toddlers.

Abstract

Helminth infections remain a significant public health problem in Indonesia, particularly among young children. The high prevalence of helminth infection increases the risk of stunting, anaemia, and malnutrition. Prevention efforts are often hindered by limited public awareness and the misconception that helminth infection is not a serious health issue. This community service program aimed to improve mothers’ knowledge and awareness of helminth infection prevention through booklet-based health education at a community health centre. The participants comprised 12 mothers of young children who visited Community Health Centre X in Depok. The activity was conducted on April 24, 2026, using health counselling, group discussion, and question-and-answer sessions supported by educational booklets. Qualitative evaluation results indicated an improvement in mothers’ understanding of risk factors, transmission, and preventive measures related to helminth infections. In addition, community health volunteers demonstrated increased confidence and readiness to deliver health education to the wider community. In conclusion, booklet-based health education was effective in enhancing mothers’ knowledge and awareness, and community-based educational strategies can support the prevention of helminth infections among young children.

Abstract

Background: Psychosomatic disorders result from complex interactions among biological, psychological, cognitive, and social factors. Growing evidence suggests that cognitive dysfunction, particularly in attention, executive functioning, and working memory, contributes to the development and persistence of psychosomatic symptoms. This review aimed to synthesize current evidence on cognitive dysfunction, psychophysiological regulation, self-regulation mechanisms, and psychosocial factors associated with psychosomatic disorders..Method: A narrative review was conducted using articles published between 2016 and 2026 and retrieved from Scopus, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and ProQuest through a literature search conducted on April 24, 2026. The search strategy was based on the PICOS framework and included terms related to psychosomatic disorders, somatic symptom disorder, executive functions, attention, working memory, self-regulation, and psychosocial factors. Following the screening and eligibility assessment, 14 articles were included in the review.Result: The findings indicate that impairments in attention, executive functioning, and working memory are consistently associated with psychosomatic disorders and may influence symptom severity and treatment response. Psychophysiological regulation, particularly autonomic nervous system functioning, plays an important role in self-regulation and symptom management. Furthermore, psychosocial factors, including depression, illness beliefs, maladaptive coping, chronic pain, and childhood trauma, contribute to psychosomatic vulnerability and disease progression. Psychosomatic disorders are influenced by interactions among cognitive, psychophysiological, and psychosocial factors, highlighting the importance of integrated, patient-centered approaches to assessment and treatment.
