Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the target game training method on the shooting ability of junior basketball players at the SMPN 1 Montong Gading in 2024. The research utilized a quasi-experimental approach with a control group pretest-posttest design. A total of 24 participants were selected through purposive sampling from the club’s junior team. The instrument used was the under-basket shooting test, in which players attempted as many accurate shots as possible within 30 seconds. The intervention was conducted over 4 weeks with 12 training sessions. Statistical analysis using the paired sample t-test showed a significant improvement in players' shooting performance. The mean pretest score was 15.5, which increased to 16.58 in the posttest. The result of the t-test revealed a t-value of 3.223 with a significance level of 0.008 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference. In contrast, the control group showed no significant improvement. These findings demonstrate that the target game method is effective in enhancing shooting skills by increasing players’ engagement, motivation, and shooting repetition in a fun and active learning environment. This method supports the principles of Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) and is recommended for use in youth basketball training programs.

Abstract

Soccer is a sport that requires mastery of various basic skills, one of which is dribbling. Fast and accurate dribbling skills are crucial, especially when under pressure or during counter-attacks. Observations indicate that PS Sakra players have weaknesses in dribbling, particularly in speed and precision when handling the ball against opponents. To address this issue, this study aims to determine the effect of conventional reaction training on improving the dribbling speed of PS Sakra players. The research method used is experimental with a "one-group pretest-posttest" design. The population consisted of all 15 players from PS Sakra, who were included as samples. The results showed a significant improvement in dribbling ability after the conventional reaction training. The t-test results indicated a significant value of 0.000 < 0.05, suggesting a positive and significant effect of this training on enhancing dribbling speed.

Abstract

Team performance in sports, especially basketball, is not only determined by physical ability and tactics, but also by psychological factors. The pressure of competition, team dynamics, and individual demands require a comprehensive approach that integrates aspects of sports psychology. This study aims to investigate the impact of applying sports psychology management and mental coaching on improving the performance of basketball teams in Bandung. This study uses a quantitative approach with an experimental design. The research subjects consisted of two youth basketball teams in Bandung, which acted as the experimental and control groups, respectively. The experimental group was given an intervention in the form of a 12-week mental training program, which included visualization techniques, self-talk, stress management, and team cohesion enhancement. Team performance was measured using a series of indicators, including winning percentage, individual statistics (e.g., field goal percentage and assist-to-turnover ratio), and psychological evaluations (e.g., pre-game anxiety levels). Data analysis results showed a significant improvement in the performance of the experimental team after the intervention, compared to the control group. This improvement was seen in the winning percentage, team cohesion, and decreased anxiety levels. This study proves that sports psychology management and mental coaching programs are effective in optimizing basketball team performance.
