Abstract

The Stand-Up Comedy Lombok community demonstrates substantial potential in advancing creative tourism development in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Indonesia. While studies on cultural tourism have primarily emphasized traditional arts and heritage-based performances, limited scholarly attention has been given to contemporary creative expressions such as stand-up comedy. This study aims to examine how the Lombok stand-up comedy community contributes to tourism by transforming humor into a medium for cultural communication and destination branding. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach through observations, interviews, and performance analysis, the research highlights how comedians creatively integrate traditional narratives, local wisdom, social issues, and unique cultural practices of Lombok into their material. The findings reveal that performances not only entertain but also serve as an educational platform that facilitates cultural transmission, encourages cross-cultural understanding, and strengthens audience engagement. Furthermore, their shows often attract diverse audiences, enhance the visibility of Lombok’s cultural identity, and foster authentic and memorable tourism experiences. The study contributes to the discourse on creative tourism by positioning stand-up comedy as a modern performing art capable of bridging cultural heritage and contemporary entertainment. The implications suggest that policymakers and tourism stakeholders should recognize and support such creative communities as strategic partners in sustainable tourism development in NTB.

Abstract

This study explores the aesthetic elements of Pringgasela woven fabric, a traditional textile from Lombok, Indonesia, as a source of inspiration for innovative dance floor pattern designs. Pringgasela weaving is celebrated for its intricate motifs, harmonious color schemes, and rich cultural symbolism. By analyzing its visual and symbolic characteristics, this research aims to reinterpret traditional textile patterns into dynamic and functional spatial designs suitable for modern performance spaces. The study involves an aesthetic analysis of the fabric's patterns, the extraction of key design elements, and their adaptation into modular dance floor layouts. It emphasizes the importance of preserving cultural heritage through contemporary applications, fostering a dialogue between traditional arts and modern creative industries. The results offer a framework for integrating cultural aesthetics into innovative design, contributing to both cultural preservation and artistic innovation.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of Pancasila values in the traditional theater performance of Amaq Abir, a cultural heritage preserved by Sanggar Pustaka Budaya in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. The urgency of this research arises from the impact of globalization, which often generates cultural dislocation, identity crises, and moral shifts. These conditions emphasize the importance of developing character education models grounded in local wisdom while reinforcing Pancasila as the nation’s ideological foundation. Using a qualitative design with an ethnographic approach, data were obtained through systematic observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings show that Amaq Abir performances embody the five principles of Pancasila through dialogic narratives, symbolic costumes, traditional music, and social interaction. Values of religiosity, humanity, unity, deliberation, and social justice are not only represented artistically but also lived communally by performers and audiences. The study positions Amaq Abir as more than folk entertainment; it serves as a medium for contextualized character education and ideological transmission. Its novelty lies in mapping how Pancasila values are integrated into traditional performance arts, framing them as cultural strategies and pedagogical tools. Broader implications highlight the revitalization of traditional arts, the strengthening of cultural identity, and the collaboration of local governments, educational institutions, and art communities to embed these practices into national character education agendas.
