Abstract

This study explores strategies to develop reading habits among students at SDN 8 Tanjung Lago Banyuasin and the challenges faced. Reading plays a vital role in intellectual and character development, yet students' reading habits remain low. Using a qualitative approach through observations, interviews, and documentation, the study finds that while literacy programs like daily reading sessions and classroom reading corners exist, they have not fully established a strong reading culture. Challenges include a lack of engaging books, tight academic schedules, minimal parental support, and the distraction of digital entertainment. To address this, schools enhance teachers' roles as literacy facilitators, engage parents in literacy programs, and integrate digital resources. Strategies such as book discussions, storytelling, and reward systems create a more engaging environment. Findings highlight the need for collaboration between schools, teachers, and parents to nurture lifelong reading habits, supporting students' academic success and personal growth.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate how Sufism can function in shaping students' morals thru irfani, akhlaki, and tarekat approaches within the context of education. The background of this research is the importance of strengthening spiritual values to build integrity in the face of moral challenges in the modern world. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative, employing literature studies, analysis of religious texts, and research on the relevant thoughts of Sufi scholars in the field of education. The irfani aspect is discussed as a process of inner understanding, akhlaki focuses on shaping ethics and behavior, while tarekat is seen as a spiritual discipline that provides a framework for systematic self-development. The findings of this study indicate that integrating the three aspects of Sufism can strengthen moral development thru the internalization of values, the habituation of behavior, and guidance from teachers as spiritual mentors. The conclusion of this research confirms that Sufism can be an effective strategy in character education development if applied comprehensively, pedagogically, and can be adapted to the context. The results of this study contribute to the development of a spirituality- based moral education model that meets current educational needs.   Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki bagaimana tasawuf dapat berfungsi dalam pembentukan akhlak siswa melalui pendekatan irfani, akhlaki, dan tarekat dalam konteks pendidikan. Latar belakang kajian ini adalah pentingnya memperkuat nilai-nilai spiritual untuk membangun karakter yang memiliki integritas di tengah tantangan moral di dunia modern. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan cara studi pustaka, analisis teks-teks keagamaan, serta penelitian pemikiran para ulama tasawuf yang relevan dalam bidang pendidikan. Aspek irfani dibahas sebagai proses pemahaman batin, akhlaki berfokus pada pembentukan etika dan perilaku, sementara tarekat dipandang sebagai disiplin spiritual yang memberikan kerangka kerja untuk pengembangan diri secara sistematis. Temuan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penggabungan ketiga aspek tasawuf dapat memperkuat pembentukan moral melalui internalisasi nilai-nilai, pembiasaan perilaku, serta bimbingan dari guru sebagai pembimbing spiritual. Kesimpulan dari penelitian menegaskan bahwa tasawuf bisa menjadi strategi yang efektif dalam pengembangan pendidikan karakter jika diterapkan secara menyeluruh, pedagogis, dan dapat disesuaikan dengan konteks. Hasil penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi terhadap pengembangan model pendidikan moral yang berbasis spiritualitas dan memenuhi kebutuhan pendidikan saat ini.

Abstract

This research discusses the "Cultivation of Religious Moderation Values through the Ngidang Tradition in Kelurahan 1 Ulu Palembang." Amid growing religious exclusivism and cultural erosion, this study addresses the lack of scholarly attention on how local traditions can serve as a medium for promoting religious moderation. The Ngidang tradition is explored as a cultural approach to instill religious moderation through local arts in Palembang, specifically in 1 Ulu Village. The research focuses on how Majelis Ta’lim An Nur utilizes this tradition to cultivate values such as I'tidal (fairness), Tasamuh (tolerance), Asy-Syura (deliberation), I'tiraf al-'Urf (cultural appreciation), and Al-Qudwah (leadership). Employing a qualitative method, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model. The findings reveal that the Ngidang tradition remains preserved and actively practiced by the local community, supported by economic motives and government initiatives. However, challenges persist, including social prestige, limited cultural awareness, and economic constraints. This research makes a theoretical contribution to the discourse on integrating indigenous culture in fostering religious moderation, emphasizing its relevance in contemporary pluralistic societies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the pedagogical role of Islamic Education (PAI) teachers in instilling friendly character through greeting activities at SMP Negeri 10 Palembang, amid increasing bullying, declining empathy, and weakening face-to-face interactions among students in the digital era. Using a qualitative method with a sociological approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation of the “Morning Greeting” activity and greeting practices in the classroom, as well as visual documentation and school documents. Informants were determined through purposive and snowball sampling until data saturation was reached, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model with triangulation verification of sources, methods, and time. The results of the study show that greeting activities function as social rituals that build positive interactions and strengthen emotional closeness among students. PAI teachers play a role through exemplifying the correct greeting, integrating the value of greeting into learning, habituating greetings before and after lessons, and reinforcing behavior through rewards. Consistent practice of greeting fosters empathy, social awareness, inclusive attitudes, and students' ability to cooperate and show solidarity. Additionally, greeting activities effectively reduce dependence on gadgets and restore the quality of face-to-face interactions, making them an important strategy for overcoming adolescent individualism in the digital age. This study confirms that greetings are a simple yet significant pedagogical intervention in shaping friendly character and creating a harmonious and inclusive school culture.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the application of the Challenge Based Learning (CBL) model in improving students' critical thinking skills in Fiqh learning. The CBL model utilizes environmental challenges as a learning resource. This quantitative study employed tests, observation, and documentation to collect data. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and the "t" test. The results showed that the CBL model can be effectively applied in Fiqh learning, particularly in zakat material. Students' critical thinking skills improved significantly, with an average score increase from 63.42 to 75.56. Statistical testing revealed that 65.0% of students' thinking abilities were influenced by the CBL model. Additionally, students were more active in participating in learning through the CBL model. The study suggests that the CBL model can be a valuable approach to enhancing critical thinking skills in Fiqh learning. The findings of this study can be used as a reference for educators and researchers to develop effective learning strategies that promote critical thinking skills in students. Furthermore, the study recommends that educators consider incorporating the CBL model into their teaching practices to improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

The low learning motivation of students in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subjects has become a significant obstacle in achieving educational goals. This issue is reflected in the lack of enthusiasm, low participation, and teacher-centered learning activities that make students passive and easily bored. To overcome these problems, it is important to apply innovative and interactive digital learning media that can increase students’ engagement and motivation. One such medium is Quizalize, a digital learning platform designed to create a fun, competitive, and student-centered learning atmosphere. This study aims to determine the level of students’ learning motivation before and after the implementation of Quizalize in PAI subjects at SMP Tri Dharma Palembang. The research employed a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest–posttest design. The sample consisted of 26 students from class VIII A, selected using the purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and documentation, then analyzed using validity and reliability tests, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, and the Paired Sample t-Test for hypothesis testing. The results show that students’ learning motivation increased from 57% to 74% after using Quizalize, indicating a 17% improvement. This finding demonstrates that the use of Quizalize-based digital learning media is effective in enhancing students’ learning motivation in PAI subjects. Therefore, the integration of interactive platforms like Quizalize in the learning process is recommended to make Islamic Religious Education more engaging, dynamic, and aligned with the needs of 21st-century learners.
