Abstract

Learning practices in elementary schools still tend to be oriented toward procedural mastery and surface-level learning outcomes, and therefore have not fully supported the realization of deep learning. One approach that has the potential to address this issue is the use of a learning trajectory framework, which serves as an instructional framework that considers the gradual and systematic development of students’ ways of thinking. This study aims to construct a conceptual learning trajectory framework grounded in the principles of deep learning for elementary school students. This study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method, in which data were obtained from scholarly journal articles, academic books, and relevant documents discussing deep learning, learning trajectory, and elementary education. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis and content analysis to identify key concepts, instructional principles, and patterns of interrelationships among theories. The findings indicate that the integration of deep learning principles into a learning trajectory can be formulated through instructional stages that emphasize conceptual exploration, multiple representations, reflective discussion, and the strengthening of interconnections among concepts. The learning trajectory framework constructed in this study is expected to serve as a theoretical foundation and a conceptual guide for teachers in designing meaningful learning and supporting the development of deep learning among elementary school students

Abstract

This study is an experimental research aimed at determining the effect of implementing the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach and Wordwall media on the IPAS learning outcomes of students at SD Inpres Palompong, Gowa Regency. The study employed a quantitative approach with an experimental research type. A quasi-experimental design was applied using a non-equivalent control group design. Research data were collected through observation sheets and tests. The population consisted of all students of SD Inpres Palompong totaling 217 students. The sample of this study was the fifth-grade students of SD Inpres Palompong, consisting of 45 students divided into two classes: class VA with 23 students and class VB with 22 students. Data analysis techniques included descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. The results of the study show: (1) a difference in IPAS learning outcomes between students taught using the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach and Wordwall media and those taught using conventional methods; (2) the effect of implementing the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach and Wordwall media on students’ IPAS learning outcomes at SD Inpres Palompong, Gowa Regency; and (3) the magnitude of the effect of implementing the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach and Wordwall media on students’ IPAS learning outcomes at SD Inpres Palompong, Gowa Regency.

Abstract

The transformation of education in the 21st century requires prospective teachers to have competencies that are adaptive to the changing times, such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and digital literacy. This study aims to 1) analyze the relationship between the teaching methods applied in the primary teacher education Department at Universitas Negeri Makassar (UNM) and the achievement of prospective teacher students' competencies in 21st-century skills; 2) identify the dominant learning paradigm and its impact on 21st-century skills; 3) map the level of student competency achievement in 21st-century skills and identify the factors that support and hinder the achievement of 21st-century skills. The research method used was a combination of quantitative and qualitative research (mixed method), with data collection using surveys and interviews, selected and implemented with consistency and accuracy. Quantitative data were analyzed using statistical techniques, while qualitative data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The research sample consisted of 250 students and 35 lecturers. The results of this study reveal that: the majority of the students teacher are at an intermediate level of competence in 21st-century skills; only a small proportion have reached an advanced level, and almost none have reached an expert level; there are variations in achievement between indicators; teaching methods and learning paradigms play a significant role in supporting or limiting these achievements; emotional support, self-reflection, and technology integration are aspects that need to be strengthened.
