Abstract

Abstract

The post-truth era presents new challenges to democratic discourse, as emotional manipulation and misinformation increasingly shape public perception. In this digital environment, social polarization has intensified, particularly among populations with low media literacy and limited exposure to ethical digital education. This study aims to explore the role of media literacy and digital ethics education in preventing social polarization within Indonesia’s diverse educational settings. Using a qualitative exploratory case study approach, the research was conducted in three regions—urban (Jakarta), semi-urban (Yogyakarta), and rural (Sumedang). Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, focus group discussions, and document analysis involving educators, students, and policymakers. Thematic analysis was employed to extract patterns and insights related to digital citizenship development. Findings indicate that schools with higher integration of media literacy and digital ethics—especially in urban areas—demonstrated significantly greater student awareness of misinformation and its role in political and ideological polarization. Jakarta scored highest across all indicators: media literacy (78), ethics integration (82), and polarization awareness (69). In contrast, rural Sumedang lagged with scores of 54, 60, and 47, respectively. These disparities suggest that without equitable curriculum reform and teacher training, educational systems may inadvertently reinforce digital divides. This study recommends a transformative pedagogical framework that unifies ethical reasoning, critical media analysis, and civic values to develop resilient, informed digital citizens in the post-truth era.

Abstract

This study examines the multidimensional effectiveness of educational podcasts as alternative learning media among Generation Z university students in urban Indonesia. The research focuses on the perceptions, experiences, and preferences of digital-native learners toward flexible learning through narrative-based audio media. Using a qualitative case study approach, the research involved ten active students from various study programs in Jakarta who regularly accessed educational podcasts via Spotify for at least the past three months. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews, participant observation, and supporting questionnaires, and analyzed using thematic analysis. Findings reveal that podcast effectiveness is shaped by several key characteristics: storytelling-based narration, optimal duration (15–30 minutes), engaging communication style, and contextually relevant, applicable topics. The impact is multidimensional: cognitively, podcasts enhance comprehension and information retention; affectively, they foster learning motivation and emotional connection; behaviorally, they promote self-directed learning habits, informal discussions, and peer content-sharing. Listening habits integrated into daily routines—such as commuting, exercising, or bedtime—reflect a mobile and flexible learning habitus beyond the conventional classroom. This study expands the discourse in digital humanities and social sciences by framing podcasts not merely as learning tools but as cultural practices that signify a shift in how Gen Z students engage with knowledge. Audio-based pedagogy is recommended for integration into higher education curricula.

Abstract

Objective: This research investigates the role of organizational consulting in promoting financial sustainability by integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, with a particular focus on businesses in Indonesia. The study aims to explore how ESG integration can contribute to business growth and rural development in the context of emerging economies.Methodology: A qualitative research approach was employed, utilizing in-depth interviews with organizational consultants and corporate leaders to gather primary data. This was complemented by secondary data analysis from corporate reports and relevant academic literature, providing a comprehensive understanding of the subject.Findings: The findings reveal that ESG integration significantly enhances financial performance, operational efficiency, and investor confidence. Moreover, the adoption of ESG practices contributes to rural development by strengthening local economies and infrastructure. However, challenges such as limited resources, cultural resistance, and a lack of technical expertise impede the widespread adoption of ESG practices, particularly among SMEs. Organizational consulting plays a pivotal role in addressing these challenges through tailored strategies and capacity-building initiatives that support organizations in achieving their sustainability goals. Conclusion: This research underscores the importance of organizational consulting in overcoming barriers to ESG integration, particularly in emerging economies. It emphasizes the need for localized and collaborative approaches to optimize the financial, social, and environmental benefits of sustainability initiatives. The study advances the understanding of ESG integration and offers practical insights for businesses, policymakers, and stakeholders in aligning sustainability goals with financial and social objectives.
