Abstract

This research aims to delve deeper into the process of cultural transformation through the educational system of Tondo Lino Ngata Toro Nature School. This research uses an inductive qualitative analysis. Inductive analysis is an approach that begins with field facts, analyzes them based on relevant theories and arguments, and ultimately yields a conclusion. The results show that the Tondo Lino Ngata Toro Nature School is an educational innovation that combines local wisdom values with interactive and experiential learning methods. Arising from the Ngata Toro indigenous people’s need to preserve their culture amidst modernization, this school adopts a holistic approach to education, enriching the curriculum with traditional values and local wisdom practices. The outdoor learning process, designed to involve students through a learn-through-play method actively, ensures that they acquire knowledge and develop deep connections with their environment and community. This initiative demonstrates that education rooted in local wisdom and implemented through direct experiences in the outdoors can be an effective tool for sustainable cultural transformation. Therefore, it is recommended that the Village Government, Traditional Institutions, Community Leaders, and the Ngata Toro indigenous people continue to support and develop the Tondo Lino Ngata Toro Nature School. Strengthening collaboration among various parties is necessary to enrich learning resources and ensure the sustainability of this program. Ideally, the local natural resources and wisdom should be utilized as significant assets in the curriculum by providing more outdoor learning opportunities and incorporating more aspects of local culture into the learning process. Additionally, developing training for facilitators and teachers on experiential learning methods and learn-through-play will enhance the quality of education and the learning experience for students. Finally, encouraging active community participation in the school program will strengthen the relationship between the school and the community and support transmitting cultural values to the younger generation.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the ways in which widows of conflict victims manage their assets and their abilities in an effort to survive and improve social welfare after the Poso conflict. Data were obtained from two sources: an analysis of literature during the Poso conflict and interviews with victims and their relatives. The results of the study show that widows in desperate situations save their lives from threats and riots by utilising social capital by relying on relatives with ownership. Assets and capabilities are linked by access and property ownership. This was built before the conflict occurred so as to strengthen the bonds of post-conflict social capital with kinship strength among the closest relatives, such as parents, siblings, and nephews or nieces, based on the same religion, for their survival.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of ESL-LAB as media to improve student’s listening skill. This research conducted at SMKN 3 Kota Serang. Quasi-experiment with non-equivalent pre-test post-test design was applied in this research. The results of the study were evidenced by the N-Gain results of the experimental class which increased compared to the control class. The first the Paired Samples T-test aim to see that there was a significant effect of the ESL-LAB application as a media to improve students' listening skill. The result was <0.001, meaning that ?0 rejected and ?? accepted, which means that there was a significant effect of the ESL-LAB application as a media to improve students' listening skill. In the second hypothesis using the Independent Samples T-test which states that the sig value in this study was <0.001 which indicates that ?0 rejected and ?? accepted which means that there were differences in the use of ESL-LAB as a media to improve students' listening skill. It could be concluded that the use of ESL-LAB could improve students' listening skill after using ESL-LAB and there was a significant effect on tenth grade at SMKN 3 Kota Serang.

Abstract

A dissemination program for research findings on settlement history, local knowledge, and disaster dynamics in Salua Village, Kulawi District, Sigi Regency, was implemented to strengthen community capacity in disaster mitigation efforts. This activity involved the village government, the Village Consultative Body (BPD), community leaders, women's leaders, and the Disaster Preparedness Group (KSB). Through dissemination and focused discussions (FGDs), findings emerged that village vulnerability is not only caused by ecological factors, but also by the weak role of formal institutions such as the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and the forestry service in addressing forest destruction in upstream areas. Furthermore, the unclear function of the KSB also hampers the effectiveness of mitigation at the village level. Local community knowledge including migration history, settlement patterns, language, and experiences with floods and landslides serves as a crucial source of information in formulating community-based mitigation strategies. This program has yielded several outcomes, including increased risk awareness, the creation of participatory risk mapping, identification of the roles of local actors, and recommendations for strengthening village institutions through strengthening the Village-Based Village Council (KSB), implementing customary sanctions, and integrating local knowledge into village disaster documents.

Abstract

The drying process of corn kernels, which primarily depends on solar energy, is significantly affected by unpredictable weather conditions, especially rainfall, leading to a decline in the quality of the harvested corn. This study aims to design and implement a long-range communication system for an Internet of Things (IoT)-based monitoring and control system for corn kernel drying. The developed system employs an ESP32 microcontroller as the transmitter to acquire data from the DHT11 temperature and humidity sensor and the rain sensor, as well as to control a DC motor through an L298N motor driver. Meanwhile, an ESP8266 microcontroller functions as the receiver, receiving data via the LoRa SX1278 communication module and transmitting it to the Thinger.io platform over the Internet. The system is capable of operating in both automatic mode based on sensor readings and manual mode through the Thinger.io dashboard. The communication performance parameters analyzed include the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI), Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR), and communication delay at various testing distances. The experimental results indicate that the LoRa communication system performed successfully at communication distances of 100 m, 200 m, and 250 m. At a distance of 100 m, the average RSSI, SNR, and communication delay were −80.8 dBm, 3.5 dB, and 1800 ms, respectively. At a distance of 200 m, the average RSSI, SNR, and communication delay were −89.3 dBm, −5.625 dB, and 3000 ms, respectively. Although signal quality deteriorated with increasing communication distance, the transmitted data were still received reliably, enabling the monitoring and control system to maintain real-time operation.
