Abstract

Abstract

Malnutrition in children under five years of age remains a public health challenge in Indonesia, especially in rural areas. Efforts to improve nutritional status through the use of high-value local foods are one sustainable strategy. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of providing biscuits made from millet and swallow nests in improving the nutritional status of children aged 1-5 years. This study used a pretest-posttest design without a control group with a sample size of 35 children selected purposively. The intervention was carried out for a certain period by providing millet and swallow nest biscuits every day. Nutritional status data were obtained through anthropometric measurements of weight and height, then analyzed using the Paired t-Test and McNemar's Test. The results showed a significant increase in the average nutritional status score of children from 13.45 ± 1.52 to 14.20 ± 1.47 (p = 0.000; p < 0.05). The McNemar test analysis also showed a significant change in the proportion of nutritional status (p = 0.042; p < 0.05), with a decrease in the proportion of malnourished children from 28.6% to 20.0%. These findings indicate that the consumption of millet biscuits and swallow nests has a positive effect on improving the nutritional status of children aged 1-5 years. Conclusion: The provision of jewawut biscuits and swallow nests is effective in improving the nutritional status of toddlers. The use of these local foods has the potential to become an alternative.

Abstract

Phycocyanin research shows fluctuating trends and remains underexplored, particularly in its application for functional food and nutraceutical development, creating significant research gaps and opportunities for innovation such as NutrisMO This study aims to identify research trends and gaps in phycocyanin studies and to analyze factors influencing consumer intention to use NutrisMO, a nutraceutical product based on Spirulina and Moringa oleifera.A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted using the PRISMA approach with data sourced from Scopus (2005–2024), analyzed באמצעות VOSviewer and Leximancer. In addition, a quantitative explanatory study was conducted with 150 respondents selected through purposive sampling to review public acceptance of NUTRISMO products. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with Smart-PLS. The SLR results indicate that research on phycocyanin is still limited and fluctuative, with identified gaps in food-related applications (21%), product-related challenges (8%), and C-phycocyanin concepts (6%), highlighting opportunities for further research and innovation. Meanwhile, the Smart-PLS analysis shows that all constructs meet validity and reliability criteria. Perceived Bioactive Content (β = 0.400), Health Awareness (β = 0.438), and Trust in Herbal Products (β = 0.440) significantly influence Perceived Benefit, which in turn strongly affects Intention to Use (β = 0.775). The model demonstrates moderate to strong explanatory power, with R² values of 0.513 for Perceived Benefit and 0.600 for Intention to Use. This study confirms that perceived benefit plays a crucial mediating role in shaping consumer intention to use nutraceutical products. It also emphasizes the need for further research on phycocyanin and supports the development of functional nutraceutical innovations like NutrisMO by integrating scientific evidence, health awareness, and consumer trust.

Abstract

Rising life expectancy has given rise to the ageing population phenomenon, which contributes to declining physiological function and the emergence of degenerative diseases among older adults. A balanced diet serves as a key foundation for helping the elderly maintain independent daily activity, yet adherence to nutritional guidelines among this group remains low due to misconceptions about nutritional needs in old age. This study aims to explore how elderly individuals in Kalajena Village perceive the implementation of a balanced diet and to identify the physiological, social, and economic factors that hinder its practice. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, involving six older adults as key participants and two supporting informants selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, then processed through data reduction, categorization, and interpretation. The findings reveal that participants' understanding of balanced nutrition remains at a basic level and has not been fully translated into daily practice, with hypertension emerging as the most prevalent health condition. This gap stems from deeply rooted eating habits, limited family support for those living alone, and economic constraints restricting access to vegetables and fruit. The study concludes that perception, physiological condition, social support, and economic capacity are interrelated in shaping elderly eating behavior toward healthy ageing. Keywords: elderly perception; balanced diet; physical health; nutritional barriers; healthy ageing

Abstract

The Information Systems Strategic Planning (ISSP) aims to align the information system's activities with the organization’s strategic goals. Effective control tools are essential to manage risks associated with organizational, policy, and position changes, ensuring the performance and success of SI/IT implementation. Developing the SI/IT Strategic Plan for the Health Office requires active stakeholder support, involvement, and commitment to achieve the organization's vision and mission. This research aims to create an SI/IT Strategic Plan using the Zachman Framework as a guide. A qualitative case study approach was employed, with problem identification and needs analysis conducted through SWOT analysis, Value Chain, and McFarlan Grid. While the Information System at the Bima Regency Health Office is relatively adequate, it lacks integration and requires development in IT human resources, infrastructure, networks, governance, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), stakeholder commitment, financial support, and regulations. Addressing these gaps involves preparing a comprehensive portfolio of planning, policies, infrastructure, and applications tailored to organizational needs. The study concludes that the Bima Regency Health Office requires new or improved systems to support its services. The SI/IT Strategic Plan (2016-2020) includes developing data centers, information systems, infrastructure, network security, human resources, and management processes.

Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health and nutritional problem affecting children worldwide, including Indonesia. Stunting is a condition of impaired growth resulting from chronic malnutrition and recurrent infections, characterized by a height-for-age index below the standard established by the World Health Organization (WHO). Parenting practices and adequate animal protein intake are important factors influencing child growth and development. Inadequate caregiving and insufficient consumption of animal-source foods may increase the risk of stunting among children under five years of age. This study aims to analyze the relationship between parenting practices and animal protein intake with the incidence of stunting among children aged 24–59 months in the working area of Woha Public Health Center, Bima Regency. The study will employ an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The population consists of 399 children aged 24–59 months, and a sample of 80 respondents will be selected using simple random sampling based on the Slovin formula with a 10% margin of error. Data on parenting practices and animal protein intake will be collected through structured questionnaires, while stunting status will be determined using anthropometric measurements based on the Height-for-Age Z-score (HAZ) indicator. Data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Chi-Square test to determine the relationship between variables. The findings of this study are expected to provide scientific evidence regarding the influence of parenting practices and animal protein intake on stunting incidence and serve as a reference for developing nutrition and child health intervention programs aimed at reducing stunting prevalence in the Woha Public Health Center area.
