Abstract

This research aims to optimize the utilization of Lontara fonts and characters in the development of teaching materials and local culture-based learning media. It is expected to increase students' learning motivation by presenting learning materials in accordance with the trend of the times and current needs. The implementation of this teaching strategy involves the use of computers as an effective source of instruction and multimedia as a learning motivation tool that can accommodate modern learning styles. With this innovation, it is expected that the ability to use multimedia in the learning process will improve, which in turn will make students more enthusiastic in learning Bugis local content at the junior high school level. Overall, the main contribution of this research is to create relevant teaching strategies in learning, utilize computers as an effective source of instruction, utilize multimedia as a learning motivation tool, and increase students' enthusiasm in learning Bugis local content.

Abstract

Pemasyarakatan bahasa Arab di Gorontalo khususnya di Desa Biyonga menjadi fokus kajian ini karena keunikan karakteristik masyarakatnya yang erat kaitannya dengan budaya Islam dan bahasa Arab. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali cara mensosialisasikan bahasa Arab, mengidentifikasi tantangan dan menganalisis dampaknya terhadap pelestarian kearifan lokal di desa Biyonga. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode etnografi, pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi partisipan, wawancara mendalam, dokumentasi, dan Focus Group Discussion (FGD). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa upaya memperkenalkan bahasa Arab di Desa Biyonga telah membuahkan fenomena unik yaitu``Arabisasi kearifan lokal'', dimana ungkapan-ungkapan tradisional Gorontalo diterjemahkan ke dalam bahasa Arab. Program pendidikan juga mengintegrasikan studi bahasa Arab dan sejarah lokal, sehingga pemasyarakatan bahasa Arab di desa Biyonga tidak hanya meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa tetapi juga memperkuat identitas budaya dan spiritual masyarakat. Upaya ini menjadi katalisator revitalisasi kebudayaan, penguatan spiritualitas, dan pembangunan kohesi sosial yang lebih kuat dalam masyarakat.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis karakteristik Lontara pada aplikasi online sebagai media pembelajaran interaktif bagi guru mata pelajaran muatan lokal Bahasa Daerah di Kabupaten Maros. Lontara, sebagai aksara tradisional khas suku Bugis-Makassar, memiliki potensi besar untuk dilestarikan melalui integrasi teknologi modern. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi, dan analisis dokumen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi online yang dirancang dengan menggunakan aksara Lontara memiliki keunikan dalam aspek visual dan fitur interaktif, seperti latihan pengenalan huruf, permainan edukatif, dan evaluasi pembelajaran berbasis digital. Selain itu, aplikasi ini mampu meningkatkan minat dan motivasi belajar siswa, sekaligus memudahkan guru dalam mengajarkan materi Bahasa Daerah. Pemanfaatan teknologi ini juga memberikan solusi terhadap tantangan dalam pelestarian budaya lokal di era digital. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa integrasi Lontara dalam aplikasi pembelajaran online dapat menjadi inovasi yang efektif dalam mengembangkan pembelajaran muatan lokal, serta mendorong pelestarian budaya dan literasi digital di kalangan pendidik dan siswa.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan produk pembelajaran berupa bahan ajar mata kuliah Fonologi bahasa Arab. Penelitian pengembangan ini didasari oleh belum tersedianya bahan ajar inovatif yang sesuai dengan tuntutan kurikulum Universitas Hasanuddin Tahun 2023 (K-23) pada mata kuliah Fonologi Bahasa Arab di Program Studi Sastra Arab Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Universitas Hasanuddin. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian yang merujuk pada model ADDIE yang terdiri dari analisis, perancangan, pengembangan, implementasi, dan evaluasi. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan angket validasi (validasi ahli media dan validasi ahli materi) dan angket respon mahasiswa. Hasil validasi bahan ajar fonologi bahasa Arab menunjukkan bahwa ahli materi menilai buku ajar berkualifikasi baik, demikian pula dengan ahli desain menilai buku ajar berkualifikasi baik. Adapun respon mahasiswa pada saat ujicoba menunjukkan bahwa buku ajar yang dihasilkan berada pada kualifikasi baik. Dengan demikian bahan ajar fonologi bahasa Arab layak, dan siap digunakan dalam pembelajaran khusunya di program studi di Sastra Arab, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Universitas Hasanuddin. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the improvement of the maharah kalam ability of class VIII MTs Negeri 3 Kabupaten Gorontalo students by using a team quiz strategy. This research is a Class Action Research conducted at MTs Negeri 3 Gorontalo Regency. This research was carried out in 2 cycles. The data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, tests and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are descriptive and quantitative qualitative data analysis. The subjects of this study were students of class VIII C MTs Negeri 3 Gorontalo Regency, totaling 25 students. This research was conducted through 4 stages, namely the planning stage, implementation of actions, observation and reflection. The results of this study show that the application of the team quiz strategy can improve students' maharah kalam. This increase can be seen from the average value of the pre-test results, which is 33.2. After applying the team quiz strategy on the post test cycle 1 the average score result increased to 62.2, then in the post test cycle II the average score result increased to 79.8. With a successful pre-test result of 0%, post test cycle I 24% and post test cycle II 80%. Thus, it can be concluded that the team quiz strategy can improve the maharah kalam of class VIII MTs Negeri 3 students of Gorontalo Regency.

Abstract

The development of modern linguistics is spurred by technological advances and research methodologies, which encourage the utilization of new approaches such as corpus linguistics and bibliometric analysis. This method is essential for understanding the complexity of language in social and cultural contexts and identifying trends in research and scientific collaboration. This study aims to map the development of modern linguistics with a bibliometric approach using data from Scopus and Google Scholar from 2019 to 2023. The main objective of this study is to identify patterns of publications, scientific collaborations, and thematic clusters in linguistics. The methods used include bibliometric analysis with VOSviewer software to visualize the data. The analysis results reveal four main clusters in the Scopus data: traditional linguistics, computational linguistics, applied linguistics, and corpus linguistics. Meanwhile, an analysis from Google Scholar shows five clusters that show significant contributions from developing countries, especially in Southeast Asia. The United States and Western European countries were identified as the dominant centers of scientific collaboration, while the involvement of developing countries was limited. These findings highlight the integration between linguistics and technology and a shift in research focus towards interdisciplinarity. This research provides important insights for understanding the modern linguistic scientific landscape. It offers strategic implications for researchers, journal editors, and policymakers in designing research directions more responsive to global challenges.

Abstract

The increasing popularity of Arabic songs across Indonesian digital platforms has led to frequent misinterpretations, particularly when secular compositions are assumed to be religious expressions such as shalawat. This study responds to that cultural misconception by examining the lyrics of “Qoddukal Mayyās” by Mulla Uthman Al-Musili, a song often mistakenly regarded as devotional. Adopting a qualitative descriptive approach based on library research, the analysis is framed through Michael Riffaterre’s semiotic theory. The methodology involves a systematic progression through heuristic reading to identify literal meanings, hermeneutic reading to interpret symbolic and contextual layers, and the identification of matrices, models, and variants to uncover the internal structure of poetic meaning. The analysis reveals that the song articulates a deeply emotional and profane form of love, marked by symbolic imagery and figurative language. Expressions such as “your supple body,” “O my moon,” and “my heart is on fire” reflect themes of sensual longing and romantic idealization without any reference to spiritual devotion or religious content. These findings confirm that the lyrics align with the Arabic ghazal tradition, emphasizing aesthetic admiration and personal emotion rather than worship or prophetic reverence. The study contributes to the clarification of cultural misreadings in the Indonesian context and highlights the necessity for greater Arabic literary literacy. Its implications are particularly relevant for educational settings where semiotic analysis can help students and the wider public distinguish between artistic expression and religious discourse within the broader landscape of Arabic popular culture.

Abstract

This study investigates the semiotic construction of boycott messages against pro-Israel products on the Instagram account @bdsarabic, situated within the broader discourse of digital activism in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. As social media platforms increasingly serve as tools of resistance, the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement strategically utilizes Instagram to disseminate political messages. This study aims to explore how visual and textual elements work together to construct symbolic meanings that influence public sentiment and mobilization. Employing a qualitative descriptive method, the research applies Charles Sanders Peirce’s triadic model of semiotics—comprising representamen, object, and interpretant—to analyze three selected campaign visuals targeting Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, and Carrefour. The findings reveal that Arabic texts function not merely as linguistic signs but also as cultural codes that evoke moral and emotional responses. Meanwhile, modified brand logos act as visual arguments, transforming familiar corporate symbols into representations of violence and injustice. The study concludes that such multimodal constructions serve as rhetorical tools to align everyday consumption with ideological resistance. This research contributes to the understanding of how digital platforms, particularly in Arabic-language activist spaces, function as discursive arenas for contesting hegemony and constructing counter-narratives. The findings also offer insights into the role of semiotics in digital communication and the potential of social media as a catalyst for collective consciousness.

Abstract

Religious ritual practices among the younger generation are declining due to technological advancements, cultural shifts, social changes, and evolving lifestyles. Barzanji, as an oral tradition within Islamic societies, plays a vital role in preserving spiritual and cultural values. Yet, with the diminishing religious ritual engagement among youth, this traditional practice faces preservation challenges. The study aimed to examine the phenomena underlying Barzanji practice among students as a spiritual medium, reflected through their perceptions of the tradition. The subjects, purposively selected undergraduate students from Hasanuddin University's Arabic Literature Department (2021-2024 cohorts), represent future cultural preservation agents as Barzanji practitioners. Data collection employed in-depth interviews, with analysis conducted through data compilation, reduction, and conclusion drawing. Findings reveal that students hold complex perspectives on the relationship between tradition, social identity, and religious values. They perceived the Barzanji tradition not merely as cultural heritage, but as a vital vehicle for character development and spiritual formation. Thus, preserving this tradition necessitates a holistic approach, extending beyond ritual practice to incorporate educational and discursive initiatives that enrich understanding and foster active community-level participation in safeguarding religious rituals.
